The thing I dislike about Elder Scrolls armor (and weapons) is that it makes no contextual sense per the material and its possibilities. The programmers just tried to make stuff look cool and apparently they don't now how to do that, anyway. Chitin armor just has random bits of stuff everywhere and some jagged thing sticking up randomly on one shoulder for what doesn't seem to be any reason, glass armor is made to look overly fancy with no thought given to the purpose of, well, armor, chain armor was removed after the fourth game even though in real life it was, for good reasons, very successful for many centuries, there was silver armor (and weapons) even though that metal is too soft to be practical for such purposes, the ebony (IIRC a real substance that's a kind of wood, so the stuff in the game shouldn't have this name) looks like it was ripped off from the Ingram-98 robots in Patlabor, that kind of thing. It'd help with the immersion much more if design practicality was given priority. For instances, a chitin torso piece would be a large crab shell with the sides worked down to allow forward movement of the arms and glass would be volcanic glass, which helps make sense because it indeed was used for capable real things, like an Aztec whacking sword that was reputedly able to decapitate a horse in one swing, and would actually have parts formed how it would work in defense of the anatomy. Besides that, all armor per an overall kind is the same, without the distinction or uniqueness that helped make at least a possible real equivalent or similar thing so remarkable and successful. Imperial armor is always just regular plate with vaguely Roman aesthetics. It's not like the famous real Roman suit that had a lorica and the rest of that stuff. Designs should be individual, not stuck under a crappy overall type.
What I *LOVE* about Morrowind is that there's so many different armor and clothing pieces.

I actually really like oblivions orcish armor for some reason. Probably because it reminds me of lamellar armor.
Say what you want about Skyrim but damn did they improve the armor designs a lot.
Oblivion is my personal favorite
I'll go for Oblivion.
I think that Ebony in oblivion looks better than how it looks in Skyrim. They should’ve kept the oblivion design just updated the graphics.
I almost forgor Morrowind characters were like 75% legs
