There are unused voicelines from Wipeout 2048 (for its crossplay wipeout hd mode) that indicated there to have been "Transonic" (which would have been around Mach 1) and "Hypersonic" speed classes at one point, but those never came to be.

The camera tracking problems at high speeds definitely contributed to the end of your run.
People at Studio Liverpool definitely didn't expect anyone to go above Zone 100... or past Supersonic for that matter 😂
Issue to what you're describing is tied to frame rate being greater than ~90
It works fine at 60 at higher zones
