The most underrated racing game I've ever come across. Nothing has replicated the feel of playing this game late at night and breaking the sound barrier for the first time and your engine whine fades away into nothing but the trance song...good memories man
It took me 20 years and an enlistment in the Air Force to finally realize that the sound and audio cut out like that when you exceed 750-770 mph because you are literally breaking the sound barrier in this game.
Absolutely the best futuristic racer ever made. Destroys the WipeOut series by a WIDE MARGIN. I loved playing with maximum # of racers, and slowly seeing the participant counter go down as I DESTROYED my opponents.
the studio that worked on this game, Acclaim Cheltenham, was founded partly by a bunch of psygnosis employees. So it's not actually as far from wipeout as you might think
@@warhawkfan1234 that’s probably why it played so well, it ticks a lot of the same boxes The sound of the bikes rotary space magic motor and jet engines always made me smile, just fits the design
Seeing as how both Nintendo and Sony are ignoring their futuristic racing games (F-Zero and WipEout), I'm gonna need someone to make a new Extreme-G game.
Sadly, Acclaim went defunct and brough the Extreme-G series down with them. A shame. An XG5's sheer speed could truly have taken advantage of 60 fps. =(
Man, there's isn't much that gets my blood pumping like listening to Celldweller while playing this game. Geez, even to this day just watching it and listening. It takes me back.
It's sad that 5 years after playing this title, I would actually sit down and listen to The Last Firstborn. Like... I was a dumb friggen kid who turned off the music because "My parents might hear it" and I hated the feeling. VIDEO GAMES NEEDS MOAR CELLDWELLER. Also kill more of the other racers. :D
With some changes 1 a.I difficulty 2 your avatars 3 color changes on your choice on your bike dlc on previous tracks on previous extreme g games all of them 4 battle mode 5 online multiplayer and offline multiplayer for racing up to 8 players battle mode 6 players per party 6 multi-system functional for example PlayStation to Nintendo switch to Xbox to pc and vice vrsa just you need one game save file and cloud storage account and you are good to race to 1st place 6 tournament mode online and online 7 able to use mascots to unlock to race for example Nintendo version Mario,Luigi, princess peach, daisy,Rosalina and more PlayStation version jack and daxter and others same as Xbox all the way that is what I want on extreme g racing 4.
XGRA is undoubtably the most charming in the series. But this video really shows exactly how easy it was compared to the prior titles, select Rail Accel every time and providing you can turn corners you've basically won the game.
But there are contracts you must fulfill for example take a number of opponents before the end of the race and others reach this number of mps of speed and take out the screen posts and ext and ext.
@@richardguilamo976 It's true, there's various contracts to achieve. But they aren't of huge concern unless you're trying to attain 100% completion. If the goal's winning in a contest of speed, XGRA doesn't hold up to its predecessor, XGIII.
Breaking the sound barrier was so epic in this game but the controls were so tight you could never maintain the speed and effect for more than a second or two at a time.
It would have been awesome if they made this game for Nintendo 3ds systems. I'd play it all the time. I still have this game but I don't own a ps2 any more. Still can't believe they didn't expand on this cool game and keep it going.
I really like the design of the surroundings and the bikes. And the portraight voice calls. The future looks big. But also very used. That what it looks like. I like it.
If you haven't, check out Ballistic-NG on Steam. It's a free game heavily based on the PS1 WipEout games. It includes Workshop support, and you can even import Ships from PS1 WipEout games into it!
Just discovered III today. I worked at GameStop when it was new, and I thought it was too pandering to the extreme generation, but I was a cynical 23 year old. Now I see how blinded I was by my crappy attitude. Playing these portably on a Odin Lite, so fun.
Gr8 vid! Makes me want to go out and buy a ps2 again with XGIII and XGRA. Fell in love with XGIII when i played it on a demo disk and then found the game was bargain price ps2 game back then which was confusing as i always saw it as a gr8 little racer in the same lvl as wipeout. Good Times! :D
I've never played this game, because I didn't have a GameCube or PS2, but I loved the first one on the N64. It's kinda sad this series hasn't been continued. Was there anything similar in the past 5 to 10 years?
While I think XG3 is a better game...this one isnt bad either since its more of a throwback to XG1 and 2. And the Last Firstborn track is one of my favorites.
Я обожал до ракет раскачиватся и когда оппонент в борт взрывается на бешенной скорости. Мозг отключался когда разгонял ее тело и тачка 1 целое Форд против Феррари
Doesn't seem as good as XG3, but still looks amazing. Don't like that constant crosshair on screen. I didn't even know this game excisted until 2 days ago, I wouldn't be surprised if I walked past this at some stage when I was younger and didn't know what it was, the cover Art is total trashed compared to 3.
@@TrumpDeeznutsinYomouth maybe. I bought the game a while back and I have to admit it's really good. Sadly they messed up the weapons and took away manual boost. So the combat isn't very good and the tracks are so crazy the frame rate is unstable. I still think XG3 looks amazing.
Extreme G3 ''speed'' made it crap! Every track needed to be in your mind to know when turn left or right. Nice idea if a friend comes over for a multi play and doesn't know any better. Xgra picked up the bones and made it right.
The soapy handling looks as horrible as "Zombie-Wipeout", the impression of speed is not even half of what it was on the first one on N64, the music is repetitive... But please go around writing an essay on how it's the best racing game ever *roll eyes*
Pretty sure you need to give it another go lol it's still decent for what it's worth after all these years i mean imo i had both extreme-G and wipeout and they sure do put enjoyment on my face. Now the handing i can confirm on ps2 it's twitchy but it shouldn't be a huge bother since everything else is pretty damn great tbh. Now speed i can feel the sense unlike most games that are out today and what other Game has you going 300+ mph with tracks that are pretty much like roller coasters and for the music it's pretty good as it just catch the early 00s atmosphere just right.
