I just bought this boot, and I bought it for stiffness and longevity. I also bought the burton showstopper because of your reviews. Keep up the great work

Great review! 100% agree...I actually buy the ion SO and tourist specifically for the life liner. I prefer the flex of the imperial/photon...but the life liner is just sooo good.

    my experience with ION is
It used to be a 8 , but I'd say newer model sits around 6.5~7
    I have both 2016 ion and 2019.
They redesigned the tung, in 2018. And the newer one is softer and narrower, which also contrubute to the softness.
I had about 150 days on 2016 Ion and it was still stiffer than the brand new 2019 model on the day I bout 2019 model.

The heel pillows blow out after about 40 days. Consistently, season after season. Burton doesn't sell Life liner replacements, which is not only financially a burden on the customer, but also ecologically terrible as you have to buy a whole new boot just because those pillows tore open.
Wish Burton would a) reinforce the material around those hell pillows and b) sell liners.

Major design flaw that BURTON won’t be accountable for. Or should I say “selectively” admit design flaw accountability. The exposed toe cap stitching is a bad design. They will say it’s resting your board on the toe cap which is false since it happened to both boots and the stitching starts breaking on the sides not the top of the toe cap, so that is a bs reason from warranty department. They have known this for the last 4 years with warranty information, but still will sell these boots probably because they produced a mass quantity. It seems that they will redesign in 2025 cause it looks like online they are running out of sizes and they know if you look at several negative reviews that it is a common flaw with the ions. They are playing the numbers game on how they honor certain claims since they don’t want to take blame for a significant design flaw.
