- Основные отличия М-51 контрактов 50х-60х годов.
08:40 The main differences contracts 50s-60s.
Первые куртки М-51 производились только для USMC в рамках двух контрактов:
CONTRACT NOm # 59369. MARCH.16. 1951, US MARINE CORPS
CONTRACT NOm # 61463.OCT.5. 1951, US MARINE CORPS
Supply Department US Marine Corps 1951-1952.
Последние контракты 60-х годов были изготовлены из 100% хлопка или 50/50 хлопок/нейлон(NYCO).
Фото сделаны при разном освещении и на разные камеры, поэтому цвет курток может отличаться.
The first M-51 jackets were produced only for the USMC under two contracts:
CONTRACT NOm # 59369. MARCH. 16. 1951, US MARINE CORPS.
CONTRACT NOm # 61463. OCT. 5. 1951, US MARINE CORPS.
An experimental pilot version, the only one of its kind. The characteristic feature of these jackets, is their lightness in comparison with further contracts. Fine cotton poplin with satin sheen, reminiscent of the fabric of the M-51 fishtail parka. The next M-51 contracts were made of a denser 100% cotton sateen with a density of 9 ounces.
There are jackets in various weave fabrics, sateen or oxford with markings
Supply Department US Marine Corps 1951-1952.
The last contracts of the 60's were made of 100% cotton or 50/50 cotton/nylon.
The photos were taken in different lighting conditions and on different cameras, so the color of the jackets may vary.
Really enjoyed this video! Been wearing OD green field jacket since the 70’s, they are a classic! Never seen , even a picture of the USMC field jacket, far out!
Really good addition, especially the USMC versions wow. Seeing the Navy budget it may have been cheaper in production than the US Army version?
Love the M1951, still have two in my closet, had to have the collar on them modified because of fraying and I had to personally hand stitch reinforced cotton web around the edges of the sleeves, due to fraying which is common to these models. I've owned many 51s, they used to be an easy find at the salvation army stores or second hand stores right up to the early 2000s. My wife loves hers it's just a really sharp well made coat. My buddy had a mint 1950 transition jacket which was interesting in itself.
What price glory (wpg) on line had a beautiful reproduction M1951, in cotton sateen for $130 that's probably still available in line. It looks great 👍. And priced right for a kick around jacket. Originals are hard to find now but still pop up from time to time on Facebook marketplace etc sometimes priced right 👍.
Thanks for posting this, the liners were a pile type, and actually the later M65 liners usually could be used as it's a nicer liner.
I really don't think 🤔 there was a nicer line of combat jackets produced in history than the M1943 lineage up to the 65 versions.
Thanks again, and I can attest to the life of these jackets, I still own and wear a 1950s green enlisted trench coat for fun.
Cheers
Thanks for the detailed comment. I do not know the exact reason for the release of thin fabric contracts. I think it was a trial version. By the way, fishtail parks in 1951 were also released in two versions of 100% cotton sateen and cotton-nylon fabric.
I also consider the M43,M51,M65 to be reference jackets.
The same ( shiny) material as my M1951 fishtail parka! 👌👍( the first jacket on video with USMC logo) .
