I loved your story because it matched mine so many times.. Wanting something and holding off because you don't want to spend the money only to come across it a few weeks or a month or so later brand new or nicer at Goodwill. I love how the wood looks on your kitchen table.
I bought a small bookcase at a thrift store solid wood and an old record table with a sliding door, for $45.00's. You can't buy it now days for less than $300.00's...An Awesome set of finds for me...Get so much inspiration from you Miranda, Holly, and Kayla Friday. Love ya'll young ladies, and so happy you all love vintage, old, antiques like what my mother used. I am happy for all you treasures!!! Thank you so much for your tops, and inspiration❤😊
Great tips! Yes, I agree that brand new baskets can be so expensive. You've found some really beautiful ones while thrifting. I love your vintage cookbook collection too!
Great advice! I love how you said that buying vintage pieces help the environment! I have been shopping for vintage furniture for over a year now! So true! Love your channel and your sweet spirit!
Thank you for your sweet videos! I love thrifted real wood furniture, crocheted doilies and other embroidered pieces, milk glass, baskets, books, and just found wicker furniture! Shari
I know exactly what you mean about the thrill of finding a piece vs buying at Walmart, when thrifting treasures it just makes your home feel more cozy and inviting for friends and family to enjoy and have conversations about your finds!! 😊
I love vintage pieces. They add true beauty to a home, have stories I wish they could tell. Great video. So good to see you and spend time with you on this video and hear your great ideas. Married 37 years and always prefer thrifted over new.
I love to thrift and add vintage to my home along with the modern style. I just found two white platters from goodwill and incorporated them in my new farmhouse renovated kitchen . I am on the hunt for vintage wooden cutting boards.
I have thrifted such beautiful sold pieces of wood furniture, unique dishes, baskets etc. I totally agree with you! I also appreciate them more because they are unique quality items at a great price and you can't just go to any store and just buy them. I love collecting the pieces and making them my own. It means so much more!
Maranda, I totally agree with everything you said!!! It’s so contradictory that young people go nuts over recycling but then go crazy buying cheap NEW furniture. You get so much better quality from older wood pieces. Love love thrifting baskets and jars as well. You are absolutely right. Great video. 😊🌷👍Lisa from Dallas
I head directly to decor. My mom heads directly to furniture. She also has great luck with clothes, I do not. It's nice that you have this figured out at a young age! Thrifting is great for switching out decor even if you get tired of it it doesnt break the bank.
I always say my grandma taught me right by shopping at yardsales and thrift shops. I am looking for a kitchen scale, and I also recently found some great deals on iron skillets and a little old washboard for decor. Have a blessed weekend!🌺🌻
Super video. I have used jars fir storage for ever. You are so young and so wise!! We all need to cut plastic waste. I try to buy products that are packed in glass. I have collected crock bowls and used them for years. They are so pretty and useful. Are you sure that we are not related. I also agree that you need to make a video with your husband .😊 take care and keep making these beautiful and helpful videos. Even your music is restful .🎀❤
Tell your sweet husband that his behind the scenes work is greatly appreciated! Am on the search, now , for jars with the wire closures since you showed so many ways to use them . Thank you for sharing!❤❤
Last week my 87 year old Mom and I went junkin/thrifting and I was so excited to score a huge Corningware covered casserole. I married in the early 70s and the main design they had out then (while adding the spice design) was the cornflower blue. So I have tons of that and am always on the lookout for more. It is very expensive in antique stores, online shops, etc. and I scored my beauty for only 6.99 at Salvation Army! Even the ladies that checked me out were amazed at the price. So worth it and I was so happy. Makes all the times you find nothing worth the trips. xoxTX
I have been using Mason jar storage for years. Another way is using it for left over foods that are liquid. Once it's cold down pour in the jars and refrigerate. So much better than and plastic containers. Great video! Thank you for sharing. 🤗❤
These tips will definitely help me when I go thrifting again. You have found some great pieces!! I also never even thought to check the book section so thanks for sharing your tips with us. 😊
Thank you so much for this video! I’ve only been to a thrift store or antique store a few times. There are a few in the town that I live in & I am getting more & more motivated to look in them for things! I never thought of going there first before the other stores! I thought I was saving money by shopping at places like walmart, Marshalls etc, but I can see now that I can do better! I’ve always been a spendthrift, rarely one who saves or even gives thought to saving money. But I can sure see the value in that now. THANK YOU! Im hoping to actually do it & not just talk about it. Hope you have a wonderful week!
Maranda, I have the SAME floral mug that you showed in your video today.😃 I still remember the joy I felt seeing the haul video when you bought it thrifting, and seeing it again put a HUGE smile on my face for the 2nd time. 😁 I have owned my (thrifted) mug for over 40 years now, LOL‼️😳🤣 Everything you said you look for and buy 2nd hand are on my previously owned "must buy" list too. Added to my list are: brass, silver serving pieces, linens, curtains, small electrical appliances, lamps and light fixtures, Depression glass, faux florals and greenery as well as real gold and silver jewelry. I have been fortunate to find 18kt, 14kt, and 10kt gold and .925 silver jewelry pieces. 🥳👌 I've purchased new-in-box hair dryers, styling tools and even an electric "Mr. Tea" iced tea maker that is still going strong since I found it in 1996❣🙉 I get my picture frames, wall art, shelves and large wall mirrors this way, too. Really like having unique oil paintings 🖼 no one else will have. 🤗 I also don't overlook seasonal decor for Christmas, Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day and Thanksgiving. (I don't celebrate Halloween.) Much more economical, better quality and good for the environment, too❣🥰
I shop Costco and always buy what I can in glass jars. Big pickle jars, fruit, etc. I wash them out and use them for storage. I also love thrifting for the environmental reason but also because many of the older items are made in the US!
Great video. I love thrifting too. I love finding kitchen items and recently found a wooden rolling pin! I know you’ve found some also while thrifting and was wondering how do you clean them? Do you use anything special? Thank you
I love your glass jar storage idea. I’m stealing it Lol. I recently came across some WECK jars and I saw on their website you could purchase different sealing lids. They are pricey new but I feel they are investment pieces. I’m hoping to come across some at my local thrift and antique shops, I’m really loving the style jars they are. You always find the neatest things thrifting. My area is subpar unfortunately. Love your videos ❤️
I loved the whole video..my husband and I, have been huge thrifters for years now...we have been blessed to get some awesome treasures...I love seeing all of your treasures...tfs..have a blessed weekend...
You get me into baskets! And mixing bowls, vintage cook books, coffee mugs, white vintage Pyrex, actually today I scored a rectangular medium white Pyrex wheat pattern with the lid, oh happy days! A white medium canister with Wooden spoons script in blue letters,a ceramic apple teapot in dark red and rust colors ideal for this coming Fall decor.Thank you for the inspiration, from North Texas 👋
I love glass jars. I found some really nice square ones at junk stores for very little money. I painted the lids red. I left the old labels on a couple and they make charming canisters.
Oh and I have cast-iron skillets. My in laws gave me my first one. A 6 inch that I only bake my cornbread in. It cooks perfect and just slides out of the skillet. The others I bought years ago.
I usually hit the brass candle sticks first, then the rest of the home decor , than I move on to the sweaters and shirts, but occasionally I will find anything
I hit the like button asa I see your face lol. I really couldn't agree more with the items you mentioned but especially furniture!! I actually go a bad sinus infection for months and figured out it started with a table I purchased that was made out of particle board made with formaldehyde! Don't think they use that anymore in furniture, but also, because they are so cheaply made.
I especially love to find glass serving dishes because they can be used with any China or color scheme. Because of arthritis in my hands, I try to stay away from the ironstone and heavy ceramic pieces you most enjoy. We could shop together since we would not be in competition for the same style pieces. LOL😆
Be careful when wetting down baskets, they can become brittle and not as sturdy when they dry (even with just plain water). It’s fine if you are using as decoration only, but you can risk them coming apart if you put items in them to transport. (Guess how I know this?!)
Maranda, this was a truly great informational video! How right you are about “new” is NOT always better. It seems like the new items don’t last long at all anymore. Appliances are a BIG ONE ! They say the average use of a “ dishwasher, washer, dryer, stove” is like 10 years! That is totally insane for what we pay! Dishes are not nearly as sturdy as the old dishes. Furniture is another big one …. The list goes on! Great, great video! Truly enjoyed it! Hugs sweet girl! 💛💛💛🌻💛💛💛
Totally agree with you, everything is made a lot cheaper, silverware, dishes, sheets, towels, appliances, utensils, furniture, cushions, outdoor tools, weed eaters, clothes, shoes... Pretty much everything.
You have shopped so wisely! Solid wood furniture is not inexpensive. If only young couples I know would shop as you do, they could save so much money! Well done!
Glass canisters are so expensive $😅 The glass canisters you found are so pretty 🤍 I have bought a few and painted the lids copper. It has turned out so cute👏🏻🤍👏🏻
I have enjoyed your videos and this particular video was great!!! I have learned from you to be patient and keep looking for the exact pieces that I want. I found a small white restaurant ware platter. I have been searching and there it was waiting for me!!! I also had been looking for a glass lemon juicer, found it the same day at a goodwill store. Thanks for just being you.
Do you use your cast iron skillet on a gas or electric stove top? I have a smooth glass electric and I'm nervous the skillet would scratch it up😁 But I've heard food taste better in cast iron!
Yes I do! I’m just really careful with it and don’t run it across it or slam it down hard and it should be fine, it works great for me! I say try it ❤️
No, he will probably never be on camera. He is shy and doesn’t want to be filmed and I completely respect that! He goes above and beyond to help me with RUclips behind the scenes but the talking on camera part is not his thing! Lol

Yes!! So pretty and functional! ♥️
I’m so glad you don’t feel that you have to paint everything. You had very good tips. 👍💕
Thank you so much! ❤️
Love all your videos!!! Always watching for them! 🙂
I love to find old english biscuit tins and country style items and scan for pigs and roosters for my collections. Love florals!
I liked this video. I like to look for baskets and stones are right now. Have a great weekend

It’s a real treasure! ❤️

I also saw a video on TikTok where you can bleach baskets to get the yellow out and it looks more light colored and modern.
Good tip if you don’t like the color, I love the warm color of them though to me it’s cozy ❤️
Be careful when wetting down baskets, they can become brittle and not as sturdy when they dry (even with just plain water). It’s fine if you are using as decoration only, but you can risk them coming apart if you put items in them to transport. (Guess how I know this?!)
Love baskets too..
Love this video! I collect thrift store books too, as well as baskets and cookware.
I agree, keeping a list of what you are looking for is helpful.
Thanks I’m so glad you enjoyed ❤️
I love thrifting books also. Then once I've read them I donate them to nursing homes and shelters.

I never thought of painting the lids. I've put burlap on them and tied with rafia but it doesn't hold up well on jars that I use often.
