    If your passanger seat folds down all the way down (like mine- 07 Ridgeline) you could raise the level of the bed 6-7 inches to clear the center consel and the side ridges of our seats to make a fully flat 6 ft + bed.

    I did the same , but took the back seat, gain 6 inches add felt on bottom of the plywood,that don't tear the seats while sleeping.. also put up the seat like a Murphy bed..

    Thanks for the idea. For a budget setup, it's pretty good. If the backs of your seats would fold, you could have even more room. In my F150 they weren't meant to fold down but they do.

    I enjoyed this video very much especially with the dogs roaming around the property. I think I will use this idea for the back seat of my RAM 1500 express. Thank you!

    I'm definitely going to build something like this. Due to gas prices being so high and commuting 4 hours a day back to forth to work

    Vizsla ❤ . My 2 dogs go to work with me everyday so I'll be making one for my truck

    Thank you for the inspiration, I've been thinking of doing something like this in my Trail Boss, and this is exactly what I was thinking! This will help me save money for my hiking adventures! Hotels are adding up quickly! 😂

    Have an older 96 250 Chevy. I do flea markets in Dallas Ft. With. 130 miles away. Motel 6 is now 109.00 dollars on the weekends. Lot cheaper to sleep in truck. Thanks.

    This is one of the best backseat bed builds yet. I’ve seen one better but it’s a very expensive blow up mattress with sections that fill the floor and you lose good storage space.

      I was very happy with the performance but I will be adding more padding for next trip

    Can you stretch sleeping in your back seat?
    The bed seems to be leaning in the back seat. Is it still comfortable to sleep that way?
    Thanks.

      The bed is flat if parked level. I am 5’10” and can stretch out if I lay at an angle.

    What is the material he used around the plywood?(I didn’t watch the video)

    What’d you use to attach the pvc to the wood?

    • @DoItThenOutdoors
      @DoItThenOutdoors  6 месяцев назад

      Used a pvc cap and ran a screw up into the board. Just make sure it’s not too long so you don’t penetrate through the board

    Couple years later how is it working?

      Thanks for watching. Still using the same setup and still love it. Going to be using it next week for my out of state archery trip to KY.

      @@DoItThenOutdoors that’s awesome. I was thinking about doing that exact same thing or using the same board system that you did but just putting a blowup air mattress on top.

    I dont know why he didn't just use some 3/4 inch flooring board. Stronger and smooth no sanding

    Good idea Dan, I’d consider that if I didn’t have a cap on my truck.

    • @DoItThenOutdoors
      @DoItThenOutdoors  3 года назад +1

      I don’t like the truck bed for sleeping. If you ever find yourself in a situation that you need to get out of quickly you can’t access the cab to drive away. I also wouldn’t feel safe sleeping in the bed at a rest stop or truck stop. We can use this when someone is driving as well.

    • @RedBeardedPredators

      I don’t get to worried about that stuff, I tent it all the time, so not much of a difference for me. But I’m usually not in populated areas too.

    How did this work out? Did you have enough leg room?

    • @DoItThenOutdoors
      @DoItThenOutdoors  3 года назад

      I couldn’t be happier with it and the only thing I will change will be more cushion to sleep on. I am 5’10 and my buddy who went with me was 6’ and we had no issues. We would take turns driving and sleeping and I spent 8hrs straight on the bed. It made the 29hr drive enjoyable. I even had my bow strapped to the back of the drivers seat. My wife is 5’10” and in a pinch we could both fit at the same time.

    • @willjohn8485
      @willjohn8485 3 года назад

      @@DoItThenOutdoors I'm 6'2 so I was concerned about leg room. I plan on doing something similar for muzzle/rifle season in New Hampshire as well.
      Thanks!

      @@willjohn8485 well if you don’t end up finding time to make one let me know. I spend some time mountaineering in the Whites from Jan-March and plan to use it then. Depending on what part of NH you are in we could try to meet up and you can see if you fit before spending the money and time building one.

      for a smaller truck your best bet is to use the space of the drivers/ passanger seat to make the bed.
