@@gerrysoifer my son and I have tickets to fly to Cabo on Christmas Day. So, I want to go to La Paz and do some diving, particularly freediving with whale sharks. That’s a dream of mine.

If you don't already have arrangements, let me recommend Jamie who owns Baja Wild Encounters out of La Ventana, an hour closer to Cabo than La Paz. He is amazing. Don't know if that is the time of year for Whale Sharks in the Sea of Cortez, but Jamie will know and be able to arrange it for you if they are there. Just look up his website at Baja Wild Encounters for contact info, good luck

Thank you! I will look that up! I have not started making any specific plans yet, other than doing some research, and booking the flights. I’m probably going to complete a freediving course in November, although I do have a good amount of freediving experience and lots of past SCUBA experience. I’m thinking that I want to do a mixture of mostly freediving, but I would still like to take my son to do some scuba. I got him certified at age 10 with scuba but he has never experienced scuba diving in a good place, so he doesn’t realize what exists in the warmer ocean waters. I’ve previously done scuba in Honduras, Mexico, and California, but currently just do freediving. So it has been like rediscovering diving in the past few years.

Thank you, glad you liked the video. We always enjoy diving in La Paz and surrounding areas. In this video, we used Cortez Dive Club for the scuba outings each day and stayed right on site at the Hotel La Concha so very convenient to the dive dock and shop, but a ways out of main town of La Paz, so need a cab or transport if going into town, 15 minutes drive, not prohibitive at all. All the dive masters are very good and experienced and so no particular recommendation, and may not be a choice anyway. The dive sites are very well known routine for all dives off La Paz area. The wreck is the Salvatierra, the massive bait balls with cormorant and sea lion was Swanne Reef and we were told that was not a typical experience but exceptionally large school. La Reyna ia a pinnacle with a lighthouse, you go around with various small fish and sea lions. We went in Nov and so we also spent a few dive days out at Los Isolotes sea lion Colony, not in this video. A must do when in La Paz but they close it during breeding season which starts beginning of June, not sure when it reopens. So think about that when scheduling. Summer time is also major Mobula schools there for snorkeling with and another must do if there then. Have fun. 😀 Gerry
