LVP is waterproof because it's made of plastic and stone (typically) also the locking mechanism helps make sure water doesn't leak down through. Has 0 percent to do with the backing.
LVP is also great for resale value in most family centered markets. Literally tearing out beautiful hard wood floors to replace with LVP because it's easier to maintain with kids
My house has a mix. Typical story, bought a 1950s home, and during the initial inspection I pulled up the awful carpet. Bingo! Golden Oak hardwood! Refinished it for 4k$, best floors I've ever had. I also have LVP in the bathroom and I love the LVP there!

Nah. Im not putting hardwood on a house I am going to sell. Its not going to do much to the resell value. A fresh well installed LVP will do fine.
