- What are the 10 prettiest towns in the county of East Sussex? To determine this, I visited them all. Here's what I found out.
As a disclaimer, this list is neither a social commentary, nor a guide on which are the nicest towns to live, but purely a judgement on the aesthetics of each respective town centre.

Nice to see Hastings one-up Brighton in something for a change. Up yours brighton.
Love these videos. Makes you realise what a great country we have
Excellent. Thank you.
The Mermaid Inn is well worth a visit.
Thanks, yeah it's a stunning building, for sure!
I MUST SAY i HAVE MISSED SO MUCH BY CONFINING MY EAST SUSSEX VISITS TO Brighton. Very INFORMATIVE AND FUN Alex. thank YOU .
Thanks, and yeah some of these towns are in Brighton's shadow a bit, so that's understandable!
Liking these videos! Looking forward to West Sussex.
Wahey, he's back! And an excellent list too from a superb scenic country. 😊
Hey, thanks!
Been to Wadhurst and stayed in Hastings old town. My favourite though is Rye!!!
Thanks!
Thanks Dianne, very much appreciated! :)
My guess for number one was Rye, beautiful town. Shoutout the pretty Mayfield too
Well guessed! I passed Mayfield on the bus to Heathfield. A lovely village indeed.
Great video! 👍
Thank you Alex
No problem!
It must reflect the fact that East Sussex doesn't have many towns (I assume) as places like Bexhill and Eastbourne can make their way on to a top 10 of prettiest town. I used to live in Hastings and know East Sussex very well and absolutely agree with the number 1 choice: Rye is simply beautiful. I didn't realise that Winchelsea was a town but glad to see it on this list. I think it should be noted that it's the old town in Hastings that makes it in any way special - and the old town is certainly a wonderful gem. The rest of Hastings is bog standard.
Great video Alex, Rye looks like an absolute gem.
Thanks, and yeah it is indeed!
Brighton is known here in Brazil for its team and beaches
Whilst not the county of my birth, I have lived in East Sussex since 1989. It is a very picturesque county with lovely countryside as well as all those towns you feature. I may change the order slightly, but that would be picky. I enjoyed this one.
Ah, thank you!
I used to live in East Sussex and enjoyed this video a lot. Fair to say that Hastings is by no means all pretty, but it's got fantastic history and character and is sometimes put down unfairly IMO. I was hoping that Alfriston might come up, another beautiful place, but it turns out it's a village. Likewise Robertsbridge.
Thanks, yeah for me Hastings & St Leonards are the perfect alternative to the often crowded Brighton & Hove!
I live near lewes very nice town
Brighton and Hove is a city of course, though its a large town. Hastings old town is great, the rest not so. Rye is Lewes on steroids for sure.
St Leonards is architecturally superior than pretty much all these
I wonder how many North Americans laugh at the name of this place - especially with the new word 'SUS' going around?
