I'd like him to much more in his lower register. The infamous London gig a couple of years ago, where he was forced to lower his register in the GN'R songs sounded great!

I remember a bunch of years ago there was a scientific study to some extent that proved that of all of the pop singers axel rose head like of, if not the widest range you could have. This is the demonstration of that low register he rarely ever showed us.
He's singing in more falsetto head voice these days, lots of aging rockers have needed to change their singing technique with age. Not knocking him just a observation. He's a legend.
