  • In a previous video • Nissan Frontier: Runni... I had a look at this Nissan Frontier that came in with a misfire and I diagnosed it as a bad fuel injector living under the intake manifold. In this video I swap it out and make sure I made the right call. -Enjoy!

I would like to thank you Eric for all the great content. I have been watching many of your videos as a "DIY" mechanic I learned a ton! Yesterday I was able to put some of that knowledge to use. After my father threw 3 motors, a window regulator assembly and 2 switches at his 1998 Dodge Caravans drivers side power window he still was unable to fix it. Using some jumper wires, a power probe, and armed with the factory wiring diagrams and plug pin outs. I was able to isolate the issue to the sub harness in the door itself. Took less than 30 min for the proper diagnosis. Even though we were getting battery voltage at the proper terminals, it was unable to power the load or even the express down relay. In an effort to never have to deal with this issue again, I pulled the whole harness out of the door, and re-wrapped it and checked it for loose connections. We also cleaned the contacts on the door-body connector. In the end a corroded body to door plug was the likely culprit. After re-installing the harness back in the door, the window worked perfectly.
I doubt I would have been able to be so confident in my ability to fix the problem without the lessons learned on your channel. Most importantly I got to make a memory with my 75 year old father as we beat this dumb problem once and for all. When I was growing up he taught me a lot about working on cars, it was cool to have the tables turn and be able to teach him about more modern car electrical systems and how to troubleshoot them. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience with the rest of us.

I'm a Nissan owner since 89. I've had three. Great to see you working on that one. Still have a 2001 Pathfinder LE V6. Intake hoses and connectors are hellish. My 89 Pathfinder swallowed a valve when the timing belt gave out. Repaired it myself and my ex brother in law is still driving it. Newer Nissan's have gone down hill and are not near as reliable as rear wheel drive ones. Big Fan and always learn new techniques from you. Thanks!

One way of getting those side feed injectors out without breaking them is to pry it with a wide flat screwdriver, stick the flathead between the the injector were the pigtail clips in and top of the fuel rail were the injector sits In and slowly twist the flat head until it pops out, spray lube around the injector helps it release smoother,

Great black n white fast-forward clip there - the music reminded me of Grandpa Smitty ... and it made me imagine the comments he would have, seeing the process required to reach one lousy injector! He's turning in his grave right now! I'll never forget when he brought home his spankin' new '76 Torino - we had the hood up in his garage with the drop light blazing away, and he said, "Look at this! Pretty soon you won't be able to work on these G/d engines!" Those were the days of emission bandaids in the form of 1,000 miles of vacuum lines. He forgot how stubborn we can be in our younger age - we're still gettin' 'em fixed! 👍
Man, sorry you have to deal with all the phone calls there! I would feel embarrassed calling some shop and saying I'm a viewer of their channel, and can you help me ... People today are cut from a different cloth than I'm used to, that's for sure! I suppose it's pretty easy to avoid, though - any number that isn't a local area code, don't answer - that's what I do with the crazy Craigslisters. Doesn't make it any less aggravating, though! I'm not known at all on the net, and I still get bombarded with spam calls. 10 a day gets annoying - I can't imagine what you're getting every day ... 😣

What does the constant calls to your shop say about some in our society? Pretty depressing. Some real weirdos out there. We used to advertise in the val pak coupon mailer back before the ole internet. Every time the mailers went out we would get very strange calls from psychotic people. Ranting, screaming, preaching about the end of the world. The devil. Aliens. Etc, etc.

My wife is a Physician and (years ago) the practice (group) she was a part of was shutting down. By law she had to inform every patient of this and their options. So I'm her IT guy and had to set up the mass email for a few hundred people. It was a simple email with just the facts of the situation and had no patient info other than the patient name and email. We got about 30 email replies, 25 of which were thank you style. The other 5 were, well, different - and completely unprintable on a family youtube channel like this. I feel Eric's pain as he has 286,000 chances to win the nutjob lottery.

Eric, your videos are always fun to watch because I'm always learning new things. I had the same problem on my 2001 Xterra with the same engine but it didn't correct a mother lovin problem i'm still having when my truck warms up which is, it starts to stumble down to 500 rpm's but doesn't stall. I have also found a bad ignition coil and 3 O2 sensors and all were replaced with still the same issue occurring when it gets hot... Have you run into this problem with either Nissan's or any other makes of vehicles that you know of? Thank you in advance for all you do!

After changing injector did scan show knock error code gone? (Knock error alone will not post money light). My 1997 QX4 also has misfire 2 and Knock errors. (Online I seem to see misfire 2 and knock errors coincide often on Nissan V6). U said u heard that misfire errors can cause knock error with Nissans. But specs on that engine say knock error means only 1 thing - bad knock sensor (or wiring). Bad knock sensor causes cpu to change timing, so could conceivably cause misfire in my old QX4 with lots of borderline working parts? My knock sensor shows very high resistance at external connectors, so I'm diving in to find out why. Have yet to check injector 2 resistance. But if coil is in spec, I'm not sure if I should replace the injector while I'm in there? Money pit :)
    Great video! Thank you!
