Last night, in uncut, Kevin was talking about a meeting that they had with the people who is over it. Said that it makes since to them now cause the espn people explain how the bands our judge.
@j_y06 Bandheads/fans should be the audience ESPN is marketing and want to sell their event . Those same fans who are watching the bands throughout the year. Ijs.
Additionally, whether or not an individual had “seen much” of a particular program is subjective and inconsequential to the competition. All programs have been contacted and elect as to what degree they wish to participate, submit videos or not, that’s on them. Bands are requested to submit ONE video each month to be adjudicated by a deadline as stated above. That’s a total of 3 shows that will determine said bands overall placement. Not Zero or 5th quarters parades etc, just halftime. Each judge receives a score sheet with categories specific to what that judge is adjudicating, such as, blend and balance, dynamic contrast for Musicality, marching style uniformity, use of whistle and baton for Drum Majors and so on. You made valid points about the videography as it relates to various shots and sound editing. I do however believe that the organizers and judges are doing the best they possibly can for a “virtual” competition.
Let’s just call a spade a spade . Whoever the powers that be are trying to push a narrative . ESPN just sponsors it but those judges i don’t believe like SWAC bands style of play . It doesn’t matter that you got ppl on the committee from jsu and FAMU if they are fans of fieldshows and drills versus what the fans love to hear which are stand battles
These people are not a part of the culture that keeps HBCU bands in the spotlight and like it or not, the SWAC style is more popular and more entertaining to the majority of fans and better at putting butts in seats. This ranking is essentially ESPN marketing for the bands like Famu that struggle to live up to their reputation nowadays, but represents a certain family- friendly, homogeneous, easily marketable, mayo-flavored style you can make a TV series around. Famu doesn't even sound clean this year and they got #2. These rankings is jokes. In no way respectable.
Honestly, you'll are just being blatantly ignorant, picky, & downright cry babyish about this whole thing. I don't understand how this is so hard to comprehend. Why don't all of the complainers just have their own event!
The entire concept is awful because the HBCU band style is too varied to fairly adjudicate. PWI bands resemble each other but HBCU bands range from picture drills to 8 to 5. Some bands don't have majorettes or flags. The playing styles vary from orchestral to big jazz band. Just discontinue the entire event. As you stated, the HBCU band community has spoken.
JSU was literally in this last year against NCAT. What is the real complaint?! Just because JSU or SU or your fav band isn’t at the top this year just means the competition has changed. Bands have up and down years. It happens. Calm down
Maybe all the SWAC bands should boycott no matter what number they are .. showover !! The money not worth it because you still have to pay for travel and room and board
@ real musicians judge off of arrangements , instrumentation , clarity , clean , crisp and etc . Let’s be honest whatever band you support are not in the top 5 from a program or fan perspective .. yall need this … we don’t … we are the most popular and most watched
@ uhhhh seeeeee that’s that swac mentality ur wrong they judge bases off of musicality, balance , tone , articulation , marching , general effects, majorette, flag, you know 90s something y’all don’t use down south we do those up here in Va WE MARCH and play and dance and chant y’all only play,……… like cmon now but see u wouldn’t know about those things bc they don’t matter in your band class what matters to y’all is blowin at 3 am for no good reason when that drill looking and sounding down right crazy
A lot of crying in this video lmaoooo
A lot!

I wonder why part of rankings doesn't include fan/public votes.
Fans tend to be basis
Why would they? It would be nothing but biased bandheads
@j_y06 Bandheads/fans should be the audience ESPN is marketing and want to sell their event . Those same fans who are watching the bands throughout the year. Ijs.
@@tanyabrown8008shut up it’s ranked off of 3 field shows from each band u notice I didn’t say stand tunes 😅
becouse some of the fans never been on a band or played a instrument so i would been who they like
Bands submit a show by a certain date. If they do 3 or 1 it doesn't matter, whatever 1 show they post by the date is what is judged.

Why not have a winner from each conference (MEAC, SWAC, etc.) battle in a bracket type format? 🤔
Absolutely agree
Famu has some of the most diverse band arrangements throughout the hbcu world whether it comes to dynamics woodwinds etc

Facts reece. The style of play from the swac is uniquely OURS.
@ facts !!! They want bands like NCAT to be the representation of HBCUs because their style is similar to DCI but SWAC bands run the HBCU culture

@ perfectly said bro
@@big_reece8632do u not realize it’s judged off of drill not stands 😂
I though the bands submitted once a month.
They do. He’s being dense on purpose cause he mad at the rankings 😭
Some of them panel attends events and games. Not just based on video from what i remember

I do agree that FAMU shouldn’t be ranked that high.
Well I disagree
There will always be debate, but it seems that he majority of the band work is just perplexed at what they're doing
Exactly!

@@jeromebrooks8209 a well executed show is a well executed show. Both A&T and JSU made it last year and they are completely different from each other
I thought each weekend was dedicated to certain bands hence each band is only judge on one video.

How do you wear a KKY hat and not know how many years? Represent better, bruh!
Lol math wasn't my friend...I got it right in the end... #letmemakeit

Those costs are covered
Or just do better drills and stop crying bc real musicians aren’t judging based on stands

The people over it are FAMU and ncat grads and supporters. It’s awful
That's a lie. The judges are from various schools including jsu
@ the judges yes, but the actual creator and executives are from ncat and FAMU please don’t make me post people names 😅
