They have worked their butts off, and managed to win Grand Nationals, Best general effect, best visual effects, and best musical performance and your comment is essentially that their music sucked. @@GlissandoGang I think Avon would beat all the Texas bands and go #1, as well as Carmel. Also the UIL state championships happened much later than ISSMA, so Avon would have had plenty of time to clean up and beat all the Texas bands, especially over Hebron.
I’m flabbergasted at the sound & production of the band. There are band competitions in WV but nothing like this extravaganza. It’s astonishing that every instrumentalist & color guard member has on something that’s NOT a band uniform. This had to be a huge investment for the band boosters/parents. Paul Mondrian is proud!! I noticed @6:55, the person had a flute in one hand & a clarinet in the other.
Wonderful performance! Great musicians and incredible guard. Too bad the costumes are so busy and make it hard to see the forms. Too many scatter drills as well. (IMHO)
Broken Arrow should have won 1st. This show just didn't do it for me. It was kinda creative with the cubes. But thats it. It seemed like a hot mess. It seems their strategy is to do so much at once with abstract uniforms on so the judges won't catch the mistakes.

US Bands World-Class might be a better option assuming the top bands take their money and resources elsewhere to get a fair shake. Avon's show is a good high school show, but not on a 97+ level. More like 93 to 94 range aka 5th to 7th
im not trying to hate on your statement when i say this but i really hate when people compare bands to other bands, or more specifically i mean when people are hateful when they say it like "this band would be destoryed by vandy so they suck!" but that isnt what you did so i appreciate that but i just wish more people would enjoy the music without comparing different schools and completely different music
@ I hear you. I think it’s possible and fair to both enjoy each show as its own but also draw some level of (respectful) comparisons since these are some of the most competitive bands and shows in the country. They’re all simply exceptional at the end of the day.

Flowermound in particular would give both Avon and Carmel a run for their money this year. Hebron would probably still lose, but it would be close. Vandergrift would just heavily depend on their run.

beautiful visually, great sound, i found the music arrangement boring, but they performed it well

All of you in the comments need to read and realize that this was Avon at State and not Grand Nationals state happened way before Grand Nats
If this is what gets you first place for state in Indiana, then no Indiana high school can compete with Texas bands.
