    Camera angles don't give a real appreciation of the terrifying climbs and descents. Fantastic.

    Now this is a real motocross track. None of that nonsense out in a big flat field, pretty much just overgrown supercross tracks these days.

    Old track with lots of history. All the greats like Mikkola and DeCoster battle here a long time ago.

      Went there in'73, eyepopping changes in track. Worlds best circuit.

    I was lucky enough to see the last GP ever ran there and it was fantastic. As great as that was I can only imagine the 500cc GP's back in the day with DeCoster, Mikkola, Lackey, Noyce and the rest; they must have been epic.

      I was there in '74 and the start in the stadium by 40 works 2 strokes made your rib cage vibrate. I watched the first leg there and the second from the climb back from the high street. You did the climb on your hands and knees it was that steep. After all, they were part of the citadels original defences. Great days.

    stefan everts tu es le plus grand champion de tout les temps

    • @francisnickler5895

      Stefan est certes un grand monsieur du cross, mais derrière Ricky Carmichaël, Mc Grath,.et des gens comme JMB par exemple, qui a tout gagné aux USA. Everts n'aurait jamais eu 10 titres là-bas mais il a préféré rester n°1en Europe, certains de ses adversaires partant aux US, plutôt que de risquer d'être 2 ou 3 aux USA... A vaincre sans péril on triomphe sans gloire..

    Aux débuts de la vidéo,les commentateurs belges font une erreur quand un des deux dit : «la 500 ,la catégorie reine » en motocross,pendant l’époque du 2 temps c’était la 250cc qui était la catégorie reine,depuis qu’on est passé aux 4 temps c’est la 450cc maintenant la catégorie reine et n’en déplaisent à nos amis belges qui avaient plein de pilotes belges qui dominaient la 500 2 temps mais tout les meilleurs pilotes roulaient en 250cc et idem aux États-Unis où les grands pilotes roulaient aussi en 250cc,c’était juste un petit point que je voulais souligner,en grands prix de vitesse la je suis d’accord que la 500cc était la catégorie reine

    Why did they close this amazing track anyone knows?

    • @Archimede330
      @Archimede330 4 года назад +4

      It was related to the dangerosity of the track: many trees, huge cliffs on the side, ... No organiser would want to take so many risks nowadays

    • @SebTheFrenchGuy
      @SebTheFrenchGuy 2 года назад +1

      @@Archimede330 no, the reason is that the Citadelle de Namur and the near gardens are now classified as historic monuments.
