    As one of the primary environment artists who worked on Without Warning for its entire development I would just like to apologise to everyone.

      We started the company ‘CiRCLE Studio’ when half of us left CORE DESIGN IN 2003 off the back of Tomb Raider going tits up and Crystal Dynamix stealing it.
      I even did the CiRCLE logo for us and got my love of small letter ‘i’s’ in the title. Probably my greatest achievement at the company.

    The PS2 did have pressure sensitive buttons. MGS3 with the circle button for CQC was probably the most famous example. Ace combat used R1 and L1 pressures for the speed and air brake.

      I hate pressure sensitivity with a passion. It's why I always turn it off. The issue is that there's absolutely no reason why you need analogue or motion controls in any game. And developers who force it in their games are only making the game design worse and more redundant.

    Something incredibly odd to notice was at 25:37, you can actually see a blink-and-you-miss-it blood mist of the protagonist getting hit by the enemy fire, which makes for the exceptionally rare instance of getting shot in a cutscene and it not meaning a story beat which impairs you. That guy just took a bullet and shrugged it off.

    To be fair this looks like normal decent graphics for a PS2 game from 2005. It looks a bit generic and bland, lacking any interesting style or colour palette making it stand out. But juding by the graphics alone this looks fine. Unfortunatley for this game, gameplay and story is also important.
    ...and yes. I guess someone have already commented on this, but PS2 did have preassure sensitive buttons. MGS2 makes use of it.

    I'd think that in a firefight, it'd be hard to unzip your pants, so I'm assuming that (like ZZ Top) you have a Velcro Fly.

    This game had some interesting thematic going on, about playing the same story with different perspectives and gameplays, sadly it was made with laziness.
    Also, as for the "game master" facts, you guys should add a section were you mention what other games were published at the same year, for comparison on how shitty and lazy the game was, just a suggestion.

    • @DR3ADER1
      @DR3ADER1 Год назад

      That's because Circle Studio was being lazy. When they joined Jeremy Heath-Smith after he was fired from Eidos, they lacked the ability, publisher connections and most importantly, the budgets to make the games they wanted to make as they used to when they were at Core Design(didn't help that their PSP remake of Tomb Raider, that was going to feature parkour elements as demonstrated in their freerunning game, and a Chuck Rock remake on the same system were BOTH CANCELLED). This was coupled with the fact that they gave up on developing Fighting Force 3 when Heath-Smith was kicked out of the Wimbledon, London-based publisher when they were working at Core.

    34:58 This right here. The game blocks you with a locked door that will not open for any in-game reason or mechanic, but it allowed you to open the PREVIOUS door to get blocked by it? Why not block the previous door instead? Why have these doors be here at all? Details like this all point out to ridiculously poor design decisions.

    I’m disappointed in you boys, not knowing the ps2 has pressure buttons

    Obviously never played MGS3... If you want to aim gun and not shoot, you lightly press the button, also same for grab, if you hit button too hard you slit their throat, have to go light if wanna interrogate... Seriously guys...
    Also on the Triggers comment, I think they mean the PS3 onwards how the R2 is Triggers, not just buttons...
