It's iconic if you're into early 90s action shows and fighter jets. I seen a few people on youtube build lego versions of the jet with functioning parts (motorcycle that detaches, thrust vectoring engines, sweeping back wings and ejection pods in cockpit), and they're quite impressive.
One of the best aspects of the show was not only the high flying action of the main duo, but that the main female characters were not just damsel in distress plot victims. Callie essentially ran the city, could usually handle herself in bad situations, and even saved the Kats a time or two. Felina was one of the best Enforcers, devoted to her duty and more level headed than her uncle. Even Ann Gora, the reporter, didn't shy away from danger even if going for the big story often got her into trouble, she actively pursued them rather than being a big celeb for kidnap bait.
Agreed. The female cats on the show are badass. Felina was definitely an excellent character. Much better than the greenhorn slacker-ass Lieutenant Steele.
The fact that they were considered low level soldiers but we're able to build a jet out of scraps from a junk yard screams volumes of underestimation. I'm pretty sure many veterans from the Air Force will tell you that if anyone could do what the SWAT CATS did in real life then they would be respected and admired.
I love The Swat Kats! it's one of my all time favortie 90's cartoons to binge watch!!! this cartoon had it all interesting characters, comedy and some badass villains!
For the record, the original creators are working on bringing this show *back* and *upgrading* just about everything. The Turbokat is getting a 5th-gen glow up, going from F-14 to a hybrid of the F-14 and the F-22 Raptor. The characterization will be more involved. And so on and so forth. It's called Swat Kats: Revolutions, IIRC? But basically, considering how well Top Gun has done in theaters, who wouldn't want "Top Gun + heavy metal + cats + Batman", all thrown into a blender? Really hyped about this show, and yeah, Swat Kats as a kid was AMAZING.

If and when this series gets a reboot, I would really like to get a backstory with Dark Kat and Commander Feral. Besides the one-off characters like Turmoil, Morbulous, and Chop Shop, every other Villian in the Swat Kats series had some measure of an origin/back story except Dark Kat. As for Feral, how did he end up as the Comander of the Enforecers and does he have any skeletons in his closet from his days as an officer/lieutenant?
Why use Evil Callie (a villain) as an introduction clip to describe Deputy Mayor Calico Briggs proper? Also, it's Queen Callista, not Princess. Razor didn't hurt anyone in Razor's Edge - Dark Kat set up a warehouse to blow up and arranged it so it looked like Razor caused the accident (and hurt innocent civilians in the process - who were just actors pretending to be injured).Any anxiety Razor had over the incident went right out the window when he learned he was duped (i.e. - he doesn't suffered from permanent anxiety because of that incident). You forgot to mention that Felina's recklessness usually ends up with the SWAT Kats needing to save her or the fact there is clear nepotism in the Enforcer ranks (not hyperbole - we never see Commander Feral discipline his niece for her repeated insubordination - despite holding others to task for their screw ups (Jake and Chance/Lt.Commander Steele, etc) He even mentions how he should kick her off the force - but doesn't because his brother/Felina's dad would never speak to him again if he did). Speaking of Commander Feral - he's not solely responsible for the destruction of the Enforcer Building - Jake and Chance hold as much responsibility for it as Feral does (they were told to back off and let Feral handle Dark Kat - the guys were flippant and didn't listen, causing Feral's Ego to get the better of him and clip their jet - forcing the guys to eject from the jet, causing it to crash into Enforcer HQ). If Jake and Chance did as they were told, all of that could have been avoided - but then, we also wouldn't have the SWAT Kats, so... Also, Mutation City is not the last time we see Viper - (unless you consider that episode to be the last of his appearances if attempting to put the episodes in chronological order; Viper's origins would be the last episode you see him in in Season 2).
