kind of scary how easily it bent...makes me wonder what people are paying all this money for these green tractors and get wet spaghetti noodle buckets.
Thanks for the ideas-log splitter and excavator. My small Kubota has not been strong enough to bend it back, and I have access to the tools mentioned-hope it works, and thanks again
@@EverythingElliott I worked at a coal fired power plant for 15 years running equipment. I’ve seen a lot of the bigger equipment have those gussets too.
Custom swale bucket!! I did that to a friend's tractor, took chains, chain binders, vgroove the cutting edge, 7018 rod and stress relieve the bottom of the bucket. I snapped the cutting edge though, it should be hard hard steel. guess not
@@EverythingElliott Right, exactly, my friend's deere that I injured the bucket, I snapped the edge, it was a pre-2000 model. maybe that edge is just hot rolled, I suppose a punch test would reveal some clues.
It needs a gusset. Come along it as straight as you can and weld in tube gusset in the center. Its been done on many tractor buckets for this same reason.
My JD has had a gentle bow for years. I’ve straightened it a few times, but it always ends up returning to its normal shape (slightly bowed). I suppose I could do the old heat/shrink the metal, but it never gets worse than a slight bow and for my uses that’s not a big deal (it’s not like I’m doing dialysis). Besides I have other attachments if I need perfection.
If it bent that easy to put it back, there’s a serious softness issue……I’d weld a 6” wide by 3/8ths hardened steel plate the width of the bucket under the bucket. I’ve done some crazy stuff with my Kubota and never an issue.
Elliot, just doesn’t seem like that bucket was designed heavy enough for the size of that tractor. Especially by how easy you were able to bend it back. Need a couple AR400 by 3/8” gussets equally spaced between the sides, starting a couple inches back from the cutting edge and following the curvature around to the top of the bucket.
I recommended they put a heavy bucket on it, similar to what you'd see on a skid steer. Those are designed to take the abuse that this tractor can put out.
what caused the reset? I had 3 tractors since 2018 I have a tym t494 I got it cause it is mech fuel inj. also it is 6600 lbs w loader and rim guard and hard lines to bucket for 3rd func
2 comments, 1) I always wondered how anybody can find their camo coats when they take them off, 2) I have a bucket with the same finished bow as yours however it's from the 50s and looks like swiss cheese(probably still weighs as much as yours).
I always seem to be misplacing mine! I can never find them. And I would expect a bucket thats 70 years old to look like that, not one thats 5 years old!
Yup, exactly why I said the proper fix is cut the cutting edge out and replace. But they wanted a quick fix to get them by until I can get it into the shop
Typical newer made John Deere tractor and another good example of why to not buy one. Another example is the fact they have went to denying the owners rights to repairing their own tractors. I wont let a Deere on my place.
tractor was in park with parking break set...if it started to roll, wed have way bigger issues to deal with. I appreciate the concern though! Thanks for watching!
Hello Elliot, had to believe Deere would have an economy bucket on a tractor that nice👍🇺🇸
Crazy isn’t it. Should have a full steel skid steer bucket on it with its HP range it’s in
That’s because yanmar made the tractor and gay pride supporting Juan Deere made the loader.
That has to be the filmiest bucket I've seen on a tractor.
I was certainly not impressed with the quality, thats for sure. Thanks for watching!
Here I was thinking this would be an all day task! Thank you for sharing your project.
Glad it was quick and easy! Made for a nice afternoon of some free time!
John deere buckets are really light weight . Bending it back and forth is making it weaker. Bolt a cutting edge on it now before it bends again.
I told them that. I also recommended buying a HD skid steer bucket for it, and never worry about it again.
That’s the direction we are headed where everything is made as cheap as posiable so quality goes out the window
It's pretty disappointing to be honest! Thanks for watching!
Evidently. I heard JD had cut back but dam.
Thing's like taffy. Wow.
the ole wet spaghetti noodle bucket
Pretty impressive. Elliot, you straightened that ditching bucket right up.
kind of scary how easily it bent...makes me wonder what people are paying all this money for these green tractors and get wet spaghetti noodle buckets.
Good video 👍 Kinda surprised that the bucket bent that easily. I suppose that it is a light duty utility bucket, but still surprised.
Being such a large tractor it should have a HD bucket on it. Can’t believe JD would sell it this way…
@@EverythingElliott It's the only way to compete on price. Sell crap to make up for the expensive green paint.🤣
Nicely done
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the ideas-log splitter and excavator. My small Kubota has not been strong enough to bend it back, and I have access to the tools mentioned-hope it works, and thanks again
hopefully you can get it fixed up!
To salvage that bucket maybe see if they want to put a gusset in the center of the it. Welded in. Cut to contour the half round shape
Not a bad idea, I’ve seen a buncha old farm tractors like that
@@EverythingElliott I worked at a coal fired power plant for 15 years running equipment. I’ve seen a lot of the bigger equipment have those gussets too.
After the over bend , place chain hooks on bucket edge and tie off to the tractor’s front axle Curl the bucket to straighten .
Not a bad idea!
Wow.. you fixed it back to almost perfect, just never try to scoop anything with it ever again!
That's the plan!
Custom swale bucket!! I did that to a friend's tractor, took chains, chain binders, vgroove the cutting edge, 7018 rod and stress relieve the bottom of the bucket. I snapped the cutting edge though, it should be hard hard steel. guess not
one would have thought the cutting edge would be AR400 or something similar...the way it folded, I think its just mild steel.
@@EverythingElliott Right, exactly, my friend's deere that I injured the bucket, I snapped the edge, it was a pre-2000 model. maybe that edge is just hot rolled, I suppose a punch test would reveal some clues.
You can drill thru the old cutting edge. Order a new one bolt on style. Juan Deere cheep as cheep can be.
I was really surprised/disappointed that it happened to such a "name brand" tractor. Guess that name doesn't mean what it used to.
The next time it's used as easy as you bent it back it's just going to bend again in my opion.
I know, and I told them that, I don't have the time to put a new cutting edge on right now, I told them it can get done over winter.
It needs a gusset. Come along it as straight as you can and weld in tube gusset in the center. Its been done on many tractor buckets for this same reason.
the point being, you shouldnt have to when you spend that kind of money!
@EverythingElliott You're right but sometimes you need to make your own improvements for their poor designs.
@@mudbunny6388 dang shame you should have to though!
Sweet ! That was a non involved easy fix .
Usually things don’t go easily like that in my life. It was a nice surprise
Nice video, just shows that not everything is a difficult fix. Just take a little time and some patience
I was very pleasantly surprised how easily it went. Thanks for watching!
You would think that $2000 a quart green paint would stiffen up that bucket. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
They must have forgotten to add the hardner to the paint mixture.

I just can’t believe such a flimsy bucket comes on such a powerful tractor. John Deere needs to step their game up
Sounds like JD needs to beef up their buckets. If thats the bucket it comes with thats not cool at all.
Seriously, I’m not sure why a tin foil bucket comes on an 85 hp tractor.
If it bent that easy to put it back, there’s a serious softness issue……I’d weld a 6” wide by 3/8ths hardened steel plate the width of the bucket under the bucket. I’ve done some crazy stuff with my Kubota and never an issue.
I told them that’s the correct way to fix it

@ yes sir, going to a heavier gage bucket would be the best way to go. I’ve never heard of that happening with one of our orange machines. 😉
Damn thing's the wrong color, but use it to load mulch only, but be careful.
I warned them, that’s all I can do
It's possible to strengthen the bucket by replacing the blade with a thicker one, but that's time and $$$ spent in a welding shop.
Lucky for them, it would only be material cost...They are good enough friends, that I would do the fabrication work for them for free
what caused the reset? I had 3 tractors since 2018 I have a tym t494 I got it cause it is mech fuel inj. also it is 6600 lbs w loader and rim guard and hard lines to bucket for 3rd func
Not sure, that sounds like a really nice tractor!
The simpler the better
Did that on my 4044m, I just pushed it into a tree and bent it back
They certainly shouldn’t bend that easy.
Geez! I'm glad our Kubota buckets aren't that flimsy... makes me wonder how you can even scoop topsoil with that bucket?😂
Well, it’s made of tin foil. Soooooo we have to be very very careful!

The have camouflage beer cans then nobody can tell that you have one.
Oh I might have to try that next time my wife is around wondering what I'm doing.
Without heating it up. Your making it weaker with every bend
I told them the correct way to fix it is weld a new cutting edge in...we will see if that happens
@EverythingElliott what's done if done but if you heat it up next time it won't weaken it as bad. It will probably go right back
hi there i was supersized best to all john
Thanks for watching!
Soon as you put it to work will bend again.
sure will, and I told them that.
No wonder it bent, it’s no thicker than the one on my JD 790 (a much smaller tractor).
Yeah, I was surprised how easy it folded...I'm not impressed with the quality, thats for sure

You’re probably not wrong
Wow! That bucket is a POS.
No way that tractor should be sold with that bucket on it!
First scoop…..bent again
Yup, exactly why I said the proper fix is cut the cutting edge out and replace. But they wanted a quick fix to get them by until I can get it into the shop
The problem is that is a VERY cheap made Bucket !!!!
That's John Deere for yah
Easy fix. Stop giving money to a company that disrespects its customers and employees.
what's the deal with that there Ku-Boater
Waiting on a new ECM to come in from
Texas
That bucket is too weak.
You ain’t kiddin.

I can't believe they have the audacity to charge the amount they ask, and this is the product you get.
@@EverythingElliott I cant believe people are stupid enough to buy them,
That is embarrassing for John Deere just disgusting to be honest I expected more
For being the “name” with tractors, I expected better.
I dont see how you bend a JD bucket like that. I would be looking for more damage on the loader brackets and tractor.
surprising, isnt it! I would have never guessed it would bend as easy at it did
