  • M I Tarr Guitars. PART 2 of 3. Restoration of a Fender Stratocaster 1979 guitar. The documentary is a fly on the wall day to day working life of Music Tutor, Luthier and Photographer Michael Tarr. The Ex British Steel Electrical Engineer working from his home Workshop and Studio with his Grandchildren in South Wales, UK. Just watch and enjoy the film. I film my guitar progress to give enjoyment to other's with an interest in guitars, and for my Children and Grandchildren. PLEASE NOTE.... This film is not a tutorial, it is filmed for enjoyment and entertainment. Please note there is more than one way to do any of the processes in building or repairing a guitar. Do what works for you and with the tools/equipment you have to hand. Also Please Note. All Health and Safety equipment was in place and used when making this documentary. If removed it was only for filming purpose. Many thanks Mike Tarr and Oliver.

I`ve been watching you videos foe a while now and this is the first time I noticed your accent. It sounds like you live near me. I am about to start my first guitar build based on a Tele Delux but using a four bolt neck instead of the usual three bolt for this style. I have been modding my guitars for years but its time to build from scratch. Your videos have been an inspiration, keep up the good work.

Hi Richard. I’m from Ebbw Vale South Wales. Yes go for the 4 bolt neck, 3 is a different system all together. All the best with your Guitar build. Any help I can be just ask. Mike

I'm no expert on vintage Fenders, but a bridge swap should be easily reversible as long as the mounting holes line up. Should you ever wish to sell it or return it to its original form, it will be easy and won't devalue the guitar in any way since nothing was drilled or modified. Callaham and Wilkinson do really nice vintage style bridges if you want to retain that feel. Original bridge can go into a safe place for later.

Hi Johnny. Thanks for your comment. Yes I full agree with you there. Only thing since I’ve finished the guitar and have been playing it for a fews weeks, it’s a fantastic Strat and I’ve got to like the bridge. But a good idea if I did change it. Mike
