Hey! Thank you for the thorough step by step process, especially with the detailed information on the sprayer! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Your video is the best I’ve come across. You even let us watch you actually paint from the start of the furniture painting and included cleanup of the sprayer. Bravo!!! Everyone could learn from you (myself included) on how to put together a pro tutorial. Thank you for your efforts!

To make life so much easier buy a plastic bin from Dollar General(2 large ones with lids) to clean your sprayer. I do Fluid Pours and I have to clean my brushes, bottles and jars to clean. I don’t do them in my sinks.(not good for the plumbing). I dump it down the the toilet and not outside because it is not good for the soil even though I only use water base paint. The plastic bins come in handy to wash in one then rinse in the other dump the wash water dry it out line with towels to drain. It also contains everything and it keeps it organized.

Thank you for doing this. I actually had an outdoor furniture making business and was always baffled with my sprayer. The paint was not waterbased though and getting it to have the right consistency was a coin toss. You had to time the drops coming through the strainer to see if the thickness was right or too dense. it was a pain in the A. Kudos to Neiman. he is not in front of the camera so much but without him helping to haul the pieces I dont know what you would do. At 64 I have extensive furniture building and restoring experience but have no helper and that is stopping me from getting back into doing it. God bless your efforts, enthusiasm and love for each other.

For those on a budget may we offer some tips. There are literally dozens of paints that are suitable for repainting or painting furniture pieces. Many are waterbourne and come in many finish levels. Some need a topcoating especially on surfaces that will support objects. As examples flat wall paint or "Chalk Paint", a registered trademark. Coverage depends on many factors; many of the chemical and natural tints are by nature transparent. Red is a great example. Many paintmakers even have specific recommendations for painting and repainting and decoration for furniture so long as proper prep is accomplished.
For home style spraying, even using aerosols, a tent is not perfect but adequate. an older tent in can be sourced from a thrift store or from even a retailer at end of summer prices. A helpful step before doing any painting of any kind is to make certain the fractions of the material are well mixed. Unlike James Bond stirred or shaken is fine. On steel cans with lids, to reduce the bits that accumulate in the female part of the seal, punch 2-3-4 holes in the seal with a nail or an awl. The paper and cheesecloth cone type strainers are many times not made for waterbourne paints. the adhesive attaching the cheesecloth to the paper is water soluble. Test one to see. Straining 99% of paints to be sprayed is mandatory and great insurance. A source for strainers for the budget mindered is panty hose again from thift stores or those with holes.. Toss em on the wash and cut to length, Tie a simple knot and secure with a heavy rubber band..
Spray techniques vary with the type spray paints and equipment. For instance a rattle can V. an airless are really different. Some general tips are to try for a 50% overlap when spraying horizontally. Vertical spraying is best saved for when horizontal is not possible. And example of this is in the video. The furniture shown has an overlapped top leaving the underside of the top a collection point for too much paint to accumulate.. In that some paints and coatings are thixotropic and some are not. The build up in the right angle could run or sag. The solution might be to apply what in the trade is called a pisscoat to the entire area of the leading edge and the right angle of the piece. Just a dusting will suffice
We wonder if the adhesive residue from the removal of the drawer liners accumulated any of the "dust" from sanding. We submit that the residue was likely soluble in paint thinner. Masking the drawers could be less a chore with an "apron taper" that dispenses both masking tape and roll paper. We use one of the standard brown masking tapes and the roll papers in several widths that are compatible with the type paint or coating for the job of work. A handy-dandy tip when doing any type spraywork is to to have at least a small brush at hand for those 'ooops" moments. Sorry about the typos Brain working faster than me fingers sometimes.

When you pull the drawers out, there’s that inner lip that the drawer closes against. Did you hand paint that? I can’t figure out how to spray that part with the drawers in. Especially on dressers that the drawer doesn’t lay flush to the dresser, where it actually overlaps.
