Why does no one ever mention the fact that Jennifer's murder was also a representation of xual assault? The way it was set up, the way the group acted during, how Jennifer's personality and attitude changed after the fact, withdrawing, lashing out etc. That part of the movie always stuck with me with how raw the emotions felt. Something was taken from her and now she's taking her power back by hurting others.
It was such a clear drink drugging and gang r*pe set up. The bleeding after even. Inability to talk and say what happened. And the 180 personality changes.
In the reaction video that Dylan Is In Trouble made on Jennifer's Body almost all commentors kept pointing that metaphor out because Dylan laughed at the part where Adam Brody started stabbing Megan Fox. They kept telling him that laughing at the jokes Adam made before stabbing Megan was okay (i.e., getting the ritual incantation from Google) but laughing at the stabbing itself is offensive because it's like laughing at rape and sexual assault issues. I think people here / Trin's audience didn't point it out here that much because there's an unspoken, silent, mutual agreement that we all understand (including Trin) what the sacrificial scene meant, unlike in Dylan's Channel where he obviously didn't realize the metaphor.
Also, I don't know why you think "no one ever mention" the metaphor of Jenn's murder, because 2 RUclips videos have discussed it already (one is Jennifer's Body: The Effects of Bad Marketing, and the other was Jennifer's Body: Failure Revisited), not to mention the 2 J's B 10th anniversary interviews (back in Septembet and October 2019) conducted by ET and Hulu. In the ET one Megan Fox and Diablo Cody discussed that metaphor, and in the Hulu interview Megan Fox pointed it out. So I don't know why you think "no one" is ever pointing it out. Maybe you haven't watched the videos I mentioned? I do recommended you check them out. The comments in those videos are amazing, like one commentor even pointed out how the lyrics of the song Through The Trees looked like Needy's POV at first but when you sing it in Jennifer's POV it becomes heavier and more painful. Hope you'll visit those videos! 🤞 P.S. The Megan Fox episode of Eli Roth's History of Horror podcast also dived into the topic of Jenn's murder's metaphor and how Jenn's angsty and man-hating attitude could be because of an absentee father. Lol I remember when it was a big deal when megan Fox was like the first actress to come out as bi and it was HUGE to everyone, but totally “yeah, so...?” to her
i actually really love the way this movie balances out comedy + horror + a genuine and sincere story that sets it apart from other campy teen horror films. the unsubtle metaphors re: the scummy band guys taking advantage of jennifer and how her experience is implied to have changed some part of her personality completely + how that view needy has of jennifer in the van is the last time she ever sees her truly alive. AND how the whole premise of seducing, killing, and eating boys can be viewed through the lens of jennifer taking back control of her body and sexuality, but never really being fulfilled by what is essentially just a facade of confidence and power. not to write a whole jennifer's body analysis in the comments but i was soooo obsessed with the underlying sincerity behind the writing and, like you said, you can really tell that this was a story written by a woman and not some weird dominatrix fantasy (like a lot of horror involving women as the "villain" seems to be). i feel like that sincerity gets so overlooked when people talk about this movie and i'm so mad that it flopped back when it first came out because no one back then had TASTE and could acknowledge megan fox as a great and intelligent actress
I feel so surface level after reading this lol. I watched the movie for the first time when I was like 10, so I kinda forgot most details but is it implied that they raped her?? Or did something to turn her into a demon?
i remember i read a fanfic where they pinned all the deaths on chip and ran away together cause he was tryna expose jennifer then after like 5 years they felt bad so they sent some info in that could free him and it ended like that LMAOOO
I only rediscovered Jennifer’s body maybe like 3 or 4 years ago but what hit be so hard now as an adult is when she’s about to eat the emo boy but she murmurs “I need you frightened” it hit me so, so hard. I like savored that moment because it was like seeing the revenge I can never get on all the men who’ve touched me as a teen and as an adult, who’ve followed me, who’ve screamed at me terms I didn’t even know the definition of, who’ve broken my trust as professionals I thought had the best intentions, etc. They all made me scared, and scarred me as it continues to teach me this world is not made for women to feel safe. I just love, love, love, this movie. Had I been of age when it came out I would have defended it to my last breath lol
I almost cried reading this because I didn't even realize this. I knew I connected with the film but I didn't know-how. UGH like why is it such a shared experience for women to be abused and bullied by men since childhood.
The difference is: you wanted revenge of the people who tormented you - she’s getting sadistic pleasure from killing the innocent. There’s a reason males have been criticized for watching slasher films for 40+ years: it helps them cope with certain aspects of their childhood and adolescence BUT it’s within the realm of horror and fictional murder. This is why storytelling is so important and why censorship can be so dangerous.

You can just tell that this movie was written for the girls (and the gays). Didn't love Dylan's reaction to it, but it's because he is a het guy who just didn't get it, but when girls react to the movie, you can tell it just hits differently. Honestly marketing ruined the film. I'm glad it is having its resurgence as a cult classic.
Exactly, I love Dylan's videos, but there are some movies he comments on that he just can't get (fully) because he isn't he target audience. Your comment is stupid. Im a bisexual girl and I pretty much had the same reaction as Dylan did. It's a horror comedy movie, yall are making it more deeper than it actually is
I don’t really understand how Jennifer came to be a succubus. A lot of forums say she died in the ritual and then became possessed by one because it backfired since she wasn’t a virgin. However, when Jennifer explains to needy what happened to her that night and in the ending when she is stunned by the friendship necklace getting ripped off which symbolized her friendship and love for needy, how could it affect her and how could she have any memories of Jennifer’s life unless her actual soul became a succubus. I don’t believe she was ever possessed like everyone keeps saying I think she became a succubus.

but wait, so the spell was actually for her to be possessed by a demon. i really thought it was just for them to kill and to "take their souls to Satan" but ok
i think she wasn't possessed, it's more likely that she became a succubus, like her actual soul, the real Jennifer became a succubus. i feel like the real Jennifer is the one that seems weak and tired just like Needy saw her and the succubus version of her is the like flawless one
its unfair how trin has to wait for some time to post a movie commentary video. I dont get why people accuse her of copying dylan. Trin and Dylan have very different sense of humor. Dont let this stop you from posting your videos sooner trin
But they have a huge audience overlap and not everyone wants to watch two videos about the same movie within a month or two of each other. I get bored when the commentary channels all do the same movies. There are literally thousands of movies to choose from.

I've seen dylans and loved it but now im here for Trins view 🤷🏾♀️ just how reactions/commentaries work.
i'm sure this has been pointed out but i just wanted to really quick add that it's very much implied (perhaps stated?) that jennifer became a succubus because a virgin was required for the ritual, and she wasn't one, so rather than it working she became a demon (also i love love the underlying commentary on the toxicity of some female friendships and the way it subverts the way that women's bodies are just fodder within horror to being MEN'S bodies being the fodder, and the woman's brutal murder scene was the actual horrifying part, and also that it's kind of a story of how women are screwed over within the entertainment industry like i mean megan fox herself has said this was her absolute favorite role she's ever been in)
I love that Jennifer’s murder was easily the most disturbing to watch while also being the least gory. We don’t see anything but their faces which is somehow so horrifying while also not making the female death into horror porn.
This was my first ~gay panic~ movie, and I will never forgive the marketing team for marketing it towards teen boys against the directors wishes because ”teen boys like Megan Fox”. I will also never forgive Hollywood for the way it has treated Megan Fox.
I don't personally remember people hating Scott Pilgrim, in fact I remember it being wildly popular since the graphic novel was already a cult classic by the time the movie was made.
I've loved this movie since it came out. I'm gonna shed some insight that's gonna blow your mind :) When she was kidnapped, and she was talking about being a virgin and not knowing how to do anything to try to get away from them 19:40 They smiled because the "ritual sacrifice" that they are planning to do requires a virgin, so they were happy about that HOWEVER, at 6:38 she says she isn't even a backdoor virgin anymore Meaning, when she was sacrificed, it backfired and instead of dying, she came back as a succubus (which is what she/the blonde was researching when she was trying to figure out what happened to her) sorry i just love this movie lmao
Yes, however I made this comment because of Trin’s reaction and the conclusions that she made from the movie. I was just clarifying what was happening because she kinda had it, but not exactly. Thanks for the input tho 😁

Waldo Lumberjack I think it’s to do with the way he edits it or something. I stopped watching him because he was kinda pissing me off and he came across a little mellow and mean. Dunno, didn’t like the vibe
I like Dylan, but he can be slightly myopic (during his “off” days). It frustrates me a little as well. Aside from those nitpicks he’s probably a lovely person.

I just realized that "Jennifer's Body" is literally the reason why the ritual failed.
the ritual failed because to work Jennifer should've been a virgin which she wasn't, that's why the ritual ricocheted, because she had already lost her virginity. she would've been really killed if she was a virgin, then yeah she would've truly died.

i actually really love the way this movie balances out comedy + horror + a genuine and sincere story that sets it apart from other campy teen horror films. the unsubtle metaphors re: the scummy band guys taking advantage of jennifer and how her experience is implied to have changed some part of her personality completely + how that view needy has of jennifer in the van is the last time she ever sees her truly alive.

I hope you're doing alright
power to all survivors 🖤

Yea she definitely didn’t get possessed she was a succubas she became it
What does succubus mean?
She did become a succubus but there’s still a demon partly in her. It’s not Jennifer anymore, it’s just a body with some of her memories.

@@jammastrjess i will watch two videos from two people even if it's the same movie and a movie i like and i wanna know what they both think
i'm sure this has been pointed out but i just wanted to really quick add that it's very much implied (perhaps stated?) that jennifer became a succubus because a virgin was required for the ritual, and she wasn't one, so rather than it working she became a demon
(also i love love the underlying commentary on the toxicity of some female friendships and the way it subverts the way that women's bodies are just fodder within horror to being MEN'S bodies being the fodder, and the woman's brutal murder scene was the actual horrifying part, and also that it's kind of a story of how women are screwed over within the entertainment industry like i mean megan fox herself has said this was her absolute favorite role she's ever been in)
I love that Jennifer’s murder was easily the most disturbing to watch while also being the least gory. We don’t see anything but their faces which is somehow so horrifying while also not making the female death into horror porn.

I've loved this movie since it came out. I'm gonna shed some insight that's gonna blow your mind :)
When she was kidnapped, and she was talking about being a virgin and not knowing how to do anything to try to get away from them 19:40
They smiled because the "ritual sacrifice" that they are planning to do requires a virgin, so they were happy about that
HOWEVER, at 6:38 she says she isn't even a backdoor virgin anymore
Meaning, when she was sacrificed, it backfired and instead of dying, she came back as a succubus (which is what she/the blonde was researching when she was trying to figure out what happened to her)

No hate to Dylan but he missed the entire point of this movie and I got so mad and frustrated watching his video. He only focused on the male characters and missed the after credit scene completely
I haven’t watch a lot of his videos but...that seems like a constant in his videos
Both his heathers and endgame videos made me think this all the way through
Waldo Lumberjack I think it’s to do with the way he edits it or something. I stopped watching him because he was kinda pissing me off and he came across a little mellow and mean. Dunno, didn’t like the vibe
Earl Grey he has one of those “I only like 3 hour movies where white guys run around trying to beat time” kinda vibes
I like Dylan, but he can be slightly myopic (during his “off” days). It frustrates me a little as well. He sure didn’t give Heathers the credit it deserves either, it’s almost like he’d made up his mind about the film long before actually watching it. Aside from those nitpicks he’s probably a lovely person.
I think he did watch it but most of the time he is there to make fun of a movie, or point out when something is dumb or funny. I've always enjoyed Dylan, and I still enjoyed his reaction to this, even if I disagreed with him at certain points.
