  • Engine 502 responding to a reported building fire in our first due. Engine 55-2 arrived seconds prior to us and laid out to the reported address, while we hit the hydrant and sent our crew up. As other units arrived it was determined there was no fire, only condensation from a dryer. Willow Street Fire Company. Taken 8/5/22
    Engine 502 is a 2010 Pierce Arrow XT/

    FAQs-
    Q: "Where is this?"
A: Our fire house is located in the town of Willow Street, just south of Lancaster City, Lancaster County Pennsylvania.
Q: "What is the spinning thing?"
A: That is called the "Roto-Ray," it is a spinning light designed to catch drivers attention.
Q: "Why is the call so far away?" or "Why does it take so long to get there?"
A: Many of our responses, or at least many of the ones that are uploaded are responding to assist other departments. Usually another firehouse can be seen or is passed by who is already on the call. We can reach the far end of our first due in West Lampeter Twp within 5 minutes, and in Providence Twp about 7.
Q: "What camera are you using?"
A: For dash cams I use a GoPro Hero 7, helmet cam videos I use a FireCam 1080

Awesome, thanks. I was 27 years all positions. In a multifamily occupancy you only get one chance to get ahead of a fire. Its ok to dump the house like that if you dont know better before arrival.

Driving one of these trucks is wild, massive trucks with water on the back complicating things (fluid dynamics ain't a joke); total respect to firemen and firewomen.

how does condensation start a all hands fire response no one thought it was wise to see if there was actually a fire before calling in the states entire fire department ?

A lot of departments and areas have it to where certain structures and or building types are automatically a dual or multi department response just due to the fact of how big a place is and how densely packed spaces are so they from the get go call in extra man power so that if the report of a fire is true they dont have to wait for extra man power to arrive unless they need more than what two departments can provide

Well, maybe some surprise for the housewife when a group of firefighters storm her house for her dryer's water steam or so. 😆

Nope we have one on our ladder truck your way more focused with getting their safely to even have time to focus on it and in the cab you barely see the top of it when it's actively spinning
