After hearing Tom Brands tell the full story of this race on the Lex Fridman podcast it changes everything! Right before the clip that we all see of the race, Terry did a false start and swam all the way down as hard as he could! When he hit the wall he turned around and saw Tom still on the blocks. So we had to come back and race all over again and was gassed! They should’ve included that in this video!

I'm amazed they didn't swim at each other mid race and start punching wrestling and trying to drown each other. But very cool, good job Terry. Terry I have something to tell you, there is a guy who is an Olympic medalist, a multi time national wrestling champion and a world champion wrestler freestyle. YOU are that guy.
