Thank you for posting this. My dad and I used to go to that drag strip a lot when I was a kid. He passed away two years ago and was my best friend. I’ve been thinking of going again, but I will have to manage some courage to go without him. This video and seeing the track on such a beautiful day was great. Thank you.
It was cool to see a car that I know allot about. Loose Caboose, Jonny is a cool guy. I first meet Jonny around 1992 when I was still in the Army. He would race a ton at Clarksville Drag way in Clarksville TN. Great to still see him out doing his thing. I bet he still doesn't wear a shirt.
Remeber this from the late 70s, he had 2, one 440 one hemi, identicle otherwise. Used the old " let me go put my slicks on" trick to beat you on the second run , street racing.😁
Good stuff right there. Lots of cool cars. Cotton's Nova and Scott's 55 raced with us at the Nostalgia Nationals the following weekend at Bowling Green in the Modified Production class.
I believe ive seen the 300 six dragster before down south. He was from the ATL area and had a head made from Cleveland heads. He was with another rear engine dragster with a 2300 four cylinder that had a boss 9 head on it.
Laboose, Perry, Headrick everyone remembers them but no one remembers Jimmy Daniels who had Rat Power that old English Ford Anglia with Speedy Gonzales on the side. Or his Monza funny car or Thunder Bug his VW.
I was a little surprised when you showed the engine in the 68 Camaro and it had Pontiac valve covers on it😯 There were a lot of neat cars there. I love the older Pro Stock cars...
Prety sure the Avenger was built in a wind tunnel for prostock, Dodge hadn't been racing muck after the K car mini van's of the 80's. Lee IC just got hired to make money late 70's, C Shelby built the Turbo Daytona, nothing near, but, they were fun car's then. They needed drag racing again. Now look at what they are selling turnkey.

Wish we had know you were there, we were there with the AMC Gremlin; @Mountain Boys Racing. would like to have met you.
Ahh man, wish we could've met. I don't get to the drag strip nearly as much as I used to, but maybe we'll cross paths again at some point.
What car is at 9:33 ?
Plymouth Valiant
It a shame you didn't post more on that '66 GTO, it has a long race history too.
Ahh, I didn't realize that. Unfortunately, I had some photography commitments that kept me from videoing the whole deal.
Didn't Laboose also race VW's back in the day?
awesome
