    Man I'm so glad I came across these videos. I have a 67 with the 6 & C4 auto and have a donor 2000 Explorer 5.0 waiting for the swap. I was just gonna toss the EFI stuff and go FI Tech or something more modern, but you 100% have my full attention now on the factory EFI wiring project. I'll be impatiently waiting on you to upload that video 😂 I also was gonna toss the 4r70w because of the wiring.. but same as the EFI you have me rethinking it.

      That's awesome man, I'll make sure to document the wiring stuff really closely. I've been gathering together bits of information about it, and from what I can tell it's doable to run the full 5.0 and 4R70W combo off the factory stuff. Engine wiring should start two episodes from this one.

    Thank for the detailed videos of the process. I’ve also got a 68 Mustang coupe and I’ve trying to decide on a swap between SN95, Fox, or Explorer. Anxious to see what harness modifications are needed. Keep the awesome videos coming!!

      For sure, glad I could help! I went through the same debate, from my research so far the early 5.0 Explorers should have the advantage of no PCM editing needed. I guess we’ll see here soon, I should be starting on wiring in two episodes from this one.

    Great work! @22:28 I think sanding down the intake manifold fins to get the bare aluminum would look awesome!

      I'm thinking so too. I almost pulled the trigger on a set of black/aluminum finned valve covers, I couldn't figure out the compatibility between the GT40 heads but I think the matching intake would be awesome.

    I was 🤔 thinking, when he put valve covers, in that beautiful oven, this guys gotta be single !?!?!?
    Right cause no way, I want to answering that question!!!! Keep at it brother!!!

    If you went with a carb intake and used an injection that looks like a carb would look great and eliminate some clearance issues. Would the stock computer be adaptable to something like that? Great work. Helping me out heaps

    • @noboltsleftbehind
      @noboltsleftbehind  19 дней назад +1

      @@tvmax1962 if you’re talking about a Holley sniper type thing I don’t think the stock computer could run it. That would be a single injector throttle body type injection vs the multi point from factory. And it would be a shame to give up multi point, it’s better in every way vs a TBI setup.

      @@noboltsleftbehind I was just thinking about looks. Also eliminating the brace clearance issues. Great articles. Wiring is scary Haha

    Use a little heat to extract the bolt 🔩

    I am looking to doing the same swap except in a 65 mustang. One thing I have been thinking about is removing shock towers for easier clearance and maintenance. But I know that is a lot of time and $.

    • @westparley
      @westparley Год назад +1

      Also, I have a lot of work to do as it is a 6 cylinder. Do you think I should work on everything else first then do the engine? I need to do suspension, the entire fuel system. And the interior. Curious as you are doing what I plan on doing.

    • @noboltsleftbehind
      @noboltsleftbehind  Год назад +1

      From what I can tell so far, shock tower clearance shouldn’t be an issue with the 5.0 swap. My little brother (@4wdtrek) did the shock tower removal and Mustang II front end swap on his ‘66. It’s labor intensive and a bit pricey but definitely improves handling.

    • @noboltsleftbehind
      @noboltsleftbehind  Год назад +2

      @@westparley I’d say keep the interior stuff for last, you’ll have to take it apart to run wires and things for the swap. Suspension I think could be done just as easily before or after, unless you’re doing big changes which might affect exhaust routing.

    Hey, have you thought about going with A N Fittings for water and fuel lines?😊

    • @noboltsleftbehind
      @noboltsleftbehind  Год назад +1

      I’m for sure doing AN lines for the fuel, in fact if you look close you’ll see AN adapters already on the fuel rails. Haven’t considered them for coolant, I imagine you’d have to weld on fittings to make it happen?

    Just a heads up if you plan on doing mods ditch that explorer computer and wiring it’s not known for playing well with mods. You can probably find a mustang computer and distributor pretty cheap

    • @noboltsleftbehind
      @noboltsleftbehind  Год назад +1

      Do you know what in particular makes it more difficult? I was hoping to keep the OBD2 setup with the Explorer and connect with something like HP Tuners, I think the Mustang setup would roll it back to OBD1

    Battery in the trunk

    • @noboltsleftbehind
      @noboltsleftbehind  Год назад +2

      Definitely seems like the best option. The only downside is the required external battery kill switch at the drag strip for trunk mounted batteries. Not sure I want to drill a hole in the rear of the car..

    Take pictures of stuff before you take it apart.
