I couldn't be a truck driver but I would make great truck passenger! I wouldn't be able to keep my eyes off the beautiful views. Thanks, again for the video.
Your video appeared in my recommendations, and I am so glad it did. Thank you for sharing this beautiful country with us. I look forward to seeing more of your clips.
Thank you Gary for a good video, I hope the driver of the red semi is ok, I also send a big thank you to all of the trucker's that are bringing supplies to the towns & cities in BC.
I noticed the yellow caution tape running from the cab of the truck to the rear wheels. Probably put there by accident investigation team. I can see from the comments that the truck has been there for at least six days. They are not allowing tow trucks to even remove it until the coke hiway is open . Not going to shut the highway down for four hours.
Thanks, Gary, for all you truck drivers have done for us all this while. Another beautiful video of driving in the mountains of BC. Beautiful, but treacherous roads that need respecting. While my parents were alive and living in Kelowna, I drove most winters to spend Christmas and New Years with them. I have a few stories to tell about driving through the mountains in conditions much like you experienced in this video. And few with snowfall, from light to heavy, with poor visibility. The problem wasn’t necessarily the road conditions, that can almost always be compensated for. Inevitably it was a few of the other drivers that made things just little too hairy for the rest of us.😂😱🤣🤣
BC has some of the most scenic views in Canada , I used to hunt in Merrit many years ago there the sage brush , baldy , Sunday summit etc . Great vid . Cheers
anyone else see the irony that after passing the rig on its side in the ditch, the van that had pulled over 100m down the road was On Side Restorations, couldn't have had better timing for that.
30 YEARS AGO I DROVE THE SAME WAY AND SAW THE SAME RESULT!!!! However the one I saw in exactly the same spot had the trailer completely demolished with freight everywhere!!! I quit running those lines when the driver standard went to shit, Great video Gary
Thanks for the vid. Used to live by pigs gorge. Quite refreshing. Dont have much time to hit the road anymore. Keep the shiny side up and sticky side down. Bon voyage, vaya con dios.
I drove this route a few years ago at 2 in the morning in July. I ran into a huge snowstorm near the peak and couldn't see a damn thing due to very large snowflakes causing a blinding reflection from my headlights. No guardrails and about 1500 feet to the valley on my right. I didn't want to stop in fear of someone coming up from behind so I moved over to the left lane because I could see the rise of the mountain on my left. My lights reflected off the mountain as I drove with one eye on the mountain and one eye trying to see ahead. It was a scary 20-30 minutes but I knew as I descended toward Merritt the temperature would increase and the snow turn to rain. That's exactly what happened and I made it to Merritt without incident. A scary night in July!
Was watching this nice video when a 3.6 earthquake struck near Ganges British Columbia. 04:13 on December 17, 2021. The house shook, there was a loud, deep boom and my front door cracked. No damage. My dog Haley... just slept ...🙄 I'm so well guarded...😅🐕 We will rebuild.
That truck in the ditch looked like Turk out of St Andrews Manitoba near Winnipeg. Spent many years running North America for Reimer Express Lines including lots of BC.
Shitty way to end up on a winter's day....hope he's ok. Not much room for mistakes out there...minimum width on shoulders and if black ice (or any ice) is present, you could fly right off into space!
My hat is off to you I used to drive big trucks. That road you got a pay attention to the curves the corners the speed and the animal life running around. That road is very hazardous you have to be extra careful. You only want truly professional drivers on that road with a big truck
There are not a lot of trucks on that road. If you don't know the road, those corners will sneak up on you and you fall off the road like this trucker did. Too fast for the corner. The climb out of Princeton past Allison Lake and others is quite steep.
Drove that hwy a couple of times. But only in summer and it wasn't nearly as busy. Too bad for that driver but was there a smaller vehicle on the side just before it?
This is NOT a difficult rd to drive in the least! Resided in this exact area for 16 yrs, never once had an issue in any kind of conditions, only an idiot would.
This is a major highway route in B.C. so it astonishes me that the BC government keeps it one lane each way--which is inadequate especially in the winter!
This is why the residents in this area want the big semi's off this highway!!!!! That's the reason the connector was built from Merritt to Kamloops!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fine, *you* pay for a straight road that won't be wiped out in the first rainstorm, be covered by avalanche, and still comply with all environmental regulations. This is *hard* country, the road doesn't get used much (this is waaaay more than the usual traffic) and everything costs money.
If you know how to drive, this road is very adequate for the purpose that it serves. I'm guessing that you are a city boy. If so, then stay on the multi lane highways where you belong.
@@FRLN500 not from the city or 4 lanes, but Canadian highways are sure outdated & underserviced. How do you plow snow off when the mountain is at the edge of the lane? Guardrails that don't stop pickups from going over let alone tractortrailers. Pavement seems to saved for big cities, just patchwork like a quilt.(Ontario) Hope our gov. Starts spending & upgrading hwy stanards so at least they don't wash out from 2 days rain.
So there's a truck on it's side in a ditch. Nobody around, no police, no wreckers, no first responders, nothing. Did anybody check to see if the driver was hurt? Is the truck leaking fuel? oil? Is it normal in Canada to just leave a flipped truck where it lays? It just seems kind of weird to see a truck wrecked like that and nobody around.

@@spikekavalench, that road barely has shoulders, just a steep ditch. That road was pretty clear considering how recently the snow fell. Just because it's sunny doesn't mean it's above freezing.
Dude, it's not a major highway - that would be the #1 or the Coquihalla. This is typical for this part of the world following a recent snow. Perhaps *you* would like to pay for snow removal to your standard? The people who live there know how to drive it; the recent damage to other routes has pushed traffic far above normal volumes.

So far I only had to drive it at night one time but it was also snowing- saving grace was that there was not much traffic
