It's not a question of having all the data points an athlete can obtain, it's how to interpret those data points. The machine is useless without a coach that knows what that information means and knows their athlete.
For a video made by the official Olympic channel, the explanation sounds ridiculously amateur. The force plate and motion cameras merely provide a biomechanical analysis. The analysis does not tell you what is "wrong" with the lifter's motion, it only gives you the statistics. What needs to change is for the coaches to decide.
WoW. They are not only using reflective spheres. They are using RETRO-reflecting spheres. (The more syllables in the nouns and adjectives, the better...)
This may be an old reply, but I think it may be Qualysis (QTM) for the infrared software and then Visual 3d for the data processing. They are reflective spheres you stick on to the anatomical marks.
yeah but this research helps to develop the understanding of the sport and athlete further down the line. Your right though most people wont need this or have access to it.
if you don't have strong foundation that technology doesn't work, the most sucefull team, China team, they don't work with all this technology, they believe in hard work and their coaches

maybe because that's the (bad) stereotype of weightlifting...
exactly, these people who know better should help debunk it
yes, it's so annoying when you tell someone you do weightlifting and they are like "aren't you too skinny for it?"

The top female weightlifter from the USA,Sarah Robles, trains in her coaches garage in Houston. Not exactly this level of technology.
Maybe if she wins a medal, they will get an upgrade.
