Great stuff guys, all we want is a balanced view. Always swings and round-a-bouts. There were many times where we as Saffers felt the AB's got the rub-of-the-green a few years ago. I also think that Razor should be given space to grow and if you loose a couple of games on the way, so be it, look at the fruits.
We lose by 4 points, lose to them by 1 in the WC and people write ABs off. People are weird. Its like people are sick of seeing ABS at the top they're so quick to write em off. If you're not delusional, the ABS are right there. Need to stay disciplined. UpTheABS
As a Bok supporter, we never write off the AB's - too much history, too much competition. Its the ultimate test (for both teams) and a match we always want to watch. Will be at the match this weekend - let the best team win.
He was deff far worse for the AB's particularly in the closing of that game. the amount of penalties the boks got in row and the end there is impossible for anyone with any basic nouce and critical thinking to justify.
This is a quality breakdown of the game and decisions during the game and where the game was won and lost no excuses or complaints about the bomb squad or knock on try . On point with everything down to the coaching well done .
Big time. Caleb Clarke was asked earlier this year during Super Rugby about how is game has changed. He put it down to 2 things, the work load and accountabilty at the Blues, and his pre season work with the South Sydney Rabbitohs.
Question for James Parson - How much od chat is too much with a ref (specifically as a half back). Where do we draw the line? I.e - TJ has always been warned by refs in super rugby, and now it has translated to the international level. TJ's chat back and penalty in the first game just 10 meters out was a game-changing moment. Where do you draw the line? Keen for James's view as Bryn generally knows his limits 😉.
Thanks guys! really enjoyable show with good music as intro and outro. Insightfully intelligent without all the egoic arrogance & chest puffery that is a hallmark of the Breakdown (Mils excluded). A special mention to the host Ross who sets the tone with great civility, impeccable manners and abiding respect. James & Bryn are simply superb! From a saffa in oz
If this is an all time great bokke side and we came rhat close, im happy. To win next week we have to have a bench of Tamaiti, Taylor, Lomax, Vai'i, Cane, jacobsen. Perenara and B Barrett. 6 2 split and experience to finish off the game. Imho
This is not an all time great Bok team. Remember, in 2020 we missed a year of rugby, we didnt have a chance to build like we wanted to, we had to radically experiment to ensure we secure another world cup victory. Now we got time to experiment not as much but also win Now. We couldnt do that in the last cyce. 1980s, 1999 and 2009 Springboks are the best we had.
Still not convinced this side is better than 2015's. They were able to threaten the most dominant international side in Rugby history, 2023 Boks wouldn't come close based on last and this year's performances.
@@icefarrow7959 Well, 2015 ABs nearly lost to 2015 Springboks who lost to Japan😂. That All Blacks team scraped against 2015 Springboks just like The Springboks scraoed it in the last minutes on Saturday. This is what good teams do. 2015 ABs didnt deal with the competition that 2023 Boks had to deal with. 2015 ABs biggest competition was an average bok team that lost to Japan. 2023 Springboks competition was a good ABs team, the best Irish team in history and the best French team in history and an England team that could beat anyone on their day.
10 mins in and it’s already a great, level headed convo on the controversies of the game. Gotta love these 3. Almost as much as I love a good Boks/ABs game, up the boys next week let’s go!
I agree. We will be much better come Saturday.Internal searching will happen and the guys will be made aware of the fault on D and attack.Leaked soft tries
On that Bongi try if a team blames the reff then they dont deserve the win. While it can understandably be seen by many that the Bok hooker is the one who knocks the ball on in this case, it is in fact Barrett who does. Law 11.2 states: It is a knock-on when a player, in tackling or attempting to tackle an opponent, makes contact with the ball and the ball goes forward. The laws read: The ball can be grounded in in-goal: a. By holding it and touching the ground with it; or b. By pressing down on it with a hand or hands, arm or arms, or the front of the player’s body from waist to neck
The ball was still short of the line when grounded. And the boks should of never had that field position in the first place they only got down there off the ridiculous penalty against TJ for asking "what was that" when a bok player was in NZ's ruck messing with the ball while TJ was trying to pass it hot on attack in the boks 22. Thats where the game was won and lost more so than the last 18mins where the ref decided to screw NZ aswell.
To say that the try scorer does not need to be in control of the ball in Bongi try is simply face saving. Of course he had to be in control and was not. Hundreds of trys have been disallowed for not being in control of the ball Plus it was short of the line. Inept.Own it and move on.
Seriously one of the best rugby shows out there. Unbiased, entertaining and well produced. Much better than the other Sky offering with biased and bitter commentary based on ref decisions etc. Kudo’s to you gents and your team🇿🇦
Hi guys, Paul from South Africa. The ABs played a great game. I agree that the boks did not play a very good first 60 minutes, but that was because the ABs outplayed us. The last 15 min could have gone either way, and letting the ABs lead by 10 with 20 min to go is not how you win the ABs. The boks have just as much to work on if not more than the ABs. Great game, but the ABs had the better game for the larger part of the game.
Springboks have to work on their passing and timing. Felt like junior level rugby from them at times, and the All Blacks punished them for it. When you got Tyrel Lomax passing better than backs, you know something's wrong, lol.
Why do we have a specialist wing on the bench? Especially one who is out of form. We’d be better off with a 6:2 and including a big, strong ball running, line bending forward like Sititi.
I think we should have a 6:2 split as well, especially against South Africa, we need to match their physicality off the bench. I liked the starting 15 but if you had papalii and Jacobson/sititi off the bench it would be much better.
Telea is in form, he just handle the high ball unfortunately :/. Sititi is a poor choice, too green. The Argentina game in Wellington proved so. He's not going to get picked again until the Wallabies games.
@@icefarrow7959 you’re probably right. I was just using him as an example of the type of large, ball running forward we should be picking over another wing. TJ, Mackenzie, Barrett x2, Ioane, ALB, Jordan can all play multiple positions, we don’t need more than 2 backs on the bench.
As a South African, I 100% agree that the ABs lost that game. They could have won. Our backline looked average at times against the ABs, which is concerning to be honest. Not that we were bad, I just think the ABs blackline were far superior at times (especially on attack). ABs to win the game in Cape Town. Hope I am wrong.
Unfortunately it reminded me of the hit in the RWC final 🤦♂️ Uno the one when Siya lead with his head and made contact with an upright Ari's cheek which but somehow it had mitigation 🤦♂️😂🤷♂️ Just jokes bruz 🤣 I completely missed it in the match until they showed it but it didn't look good, Sammy was very fortunate not to go again.
14:42 No way that 99% of people didn't give NZ a chance - NZ is always dangerous. Most people on the street and even pundits said it would be close within 5 points.
I think Mills is hanging with the wrong click. He tries his best to be level-headed, but the other two clearly rate controversy over sensible analysis.
Stupid comment You lost it rather than south africa winning it Like this show but you can do better than a lame comment like that Great sides never give up New Zealand used to be like the springboks are today
This has got to be the most respectful podcast coming out of NZ I could watch you guys all day Well done. I just dont agree on the point of no one expecting the Kiwis to win and that there was a greater loss expected. NO ONE not even our pundits wrote AB off we all knew AB were going to come hard and Boks were going to have their work cut out. As A Saffa I can guarantee you we as fans were very very nervous. You never underestimate the AB they will never be underdogs.
Yeah what James Parsons means is that is our own media and ex All Black players (Justin Marshall especially) shooting their mouths off before we have even started playing!
I never liked him either but he was harshly yellow carded in that game it seemed to be more of a team yellow than him specifically because he came through the middle of that bok maul completely legally. But yeah Id like to see Tosi given a chance.
@@rodeo4-p6u Dunno, Bower just looks like another Tuungafasi to me. Nothing exceptional about him unlike Tamaiti, Ethan degroot, Newall and Lomax. Id like to see what Tosi has got. Iv seen Bower.
I feel Razor is just not a good enough coach. I men seriously what has he done... taken the best super rugby team in history and won the competition, like wow big deal a truly great coach takes a team full of players who are not the best individually and turns them into the best team. It only takes an average coach to take the best players and turn them into the best team and now thats what we have with a pretty good group of A.B's playing pretty good rugby and that's just not good enough.
His last few years were marred with multiple injury crises, to the point where he was using a 37 year old player in the forwards, so you clearly don't know what you're talking about.
It will happen one day but doesnt need to happen yet. The moment we do that our domenstic game is dead. Mounga is coming back outside of him who is there? Retallick? Not worth it.
@@JamesSmith-qr7be we thought the same and if anything it allowed more players to come through domestically and our top players overseas are exposed to more styles while keeping their DNA. I feel it’s inevitable. We were clearly wrong about the same concerns.
@warrenbooysen SA didnt really have a choice the rand nose dived you lost alot of players overseas add to that the white players who didnt want to stay due to quota selections. Was either keep them interested or give them away to another team. The exodus of SA players when you guys changed policies far exceeds the players we have abroad who we would actually select. Its gonna happen one day I have no doubt about that but its definitely not right now.
@@JamesSmith-qr7be agree but the concerns around drop in form or losing their DNA is nonsense. If anything the lower intensity of a league like Japan keeps the likes of PSDT, kwagga, etc well refreshed and injury free come test window. where they just lift their game back to hard physical SA approach. Also they pick up skills ordinarily not seen in SA. And ofcourse back home the new blood are filling the spots left open and playing URC, Currie cup, etc. whatever the reasons that caused it, and those you listed are true. Another accolade for your great analysis and insights. So much more enjoyable that the Breakdown hype and rambling nothings; or the Keo and Zels rabid and embarrassing rants .. makes my Tuesday every week !!
Finau aint all black material just yet. I think he still needs time. Sititi needs to be in the next match, tj needs to sit this one out. Razor needs to throw on the new players stop playing safe. who cares if we lose there will always be other matches just try the new players. Tosi, hoatham, love etc we need strong ball runners and sititi is one of them
Finau came on and got bumped off immediately. But... that's a much more justifiable mistake than Blackadder's greed botching a try. Having the mentality of an U12 player for the All Blacks, against the Springboks no less, is disgraceful. So we're not looking good at all for #6 especially going against Siya Kolisi. Scott Barrett has often played at 6, even just last year, so it might be best to play him there.
@@rugbyunit6737 how can you say Ioane is better against bigger teams when Proctor hasn't played any? I agree Ioane has the defensive edge but I think we would benefit from Ioane with his speed and defensive prowess playing off the bench against a more fatigued Saffas squad. I'd play Proctor just to try to get a different picture in front of the Boks this weekend.
B.Barret is the best player so why would we want to have him miss most the match. I sick of these stupid comments about his impact of the bench, lowering the standard of the starting line up just to make an impact off the bench is stupidity

I feel enriched and I understand the nuances of the game so much more after watching. Also great to learn so much about NZ rugby and the players strengths and weaknesses. I would love to know more about the Hakka. The history and the meaning, because it's all foreign to me. What does it do to the psyche of the players after performing it - they seem all wide-eyed and high on adrenalin afterwards. Does it have spiritual significants or is it just a cultural tradition? I would love to know more.

@@subhuman119to be fair Keo and Zels never said anything close to that. And I heard of no South African saying anything along those lines (perhaps some social media troll?)
@@subhuman119 thats entertainment friends. Keo & Zels are for laughs, and some takes.

This was an exceptional show. An illuminating, objective, rational and appropriate rugby discussion. Hope you get much more subscriptions from all over. Appreciation from Pretoria
Excellent, best analysis I've heard, so detailed
Haven't seen the abs at the top for a good 5 years
This was the best all black performance since the ireland game in the wc for-sure.

Best NZ rugby show. No big egos, just great insight
Like many others in the comments, I agree that the Aotearoa Rugby Pod offers excellent analysis. Great job, team!
Excellent conversation. This should be the No 1 NZ rugby channel. Greetings from Cape Town.
The part no one talks about is the fact that the Springboks had a lot of players with very little international experience and still get the job done
as did the ABs
Yeah, but it was the experienced guys coming on at the end that changed the game.
Surely some SA content will talk about it. Can’t expect the opposition to talk about every great part
Another thing that no one is talking about is home advantage.
@@elizabethleiper2664wasn't aware of that, I thought most players for the ABs had more games under the belt
This panel is the best 🎉 well informed no bias.
Ref was just bad for both sides,
It's definitely discipline.
He was deff far worse for the AB's particularly in the closing of that game. the amount of penalties the boks got in row and the end there is impossible for anyone with any basic nouce and critical thinking to justify.
Oh right
I only saw what 8 penalties all for the maggots,I must have missed the ABs 8🤷♂️🤷♂️
Get a grip,it’s obvious what’s happening
@@austingtir you were probably one of those who said the boks always complain about the ref. Interesting how things change.
@@austingtir you should have gotten a red card mate and it was the same dude that did it last time what are you on about
This is a quality breakdown of the game and decisions during the game and where the game was won and lost no excuses or complaints about the bomb squad or knock on try . On point with everything down to the coaching well done .
Caleb Clarke, Tupou Vaa'i coming of age
I have always been an armchair critic of Clarke, but man this year he has re-invented himself.
@@philgardiner445 yeah, trying the Olympics was a big mistake.
This was an excellent show with a very balanced assessment of the game, unlike the biased analysis on The Breakdown.
This is the best Kiwi rugby podcast by far. Great work guys!
May the best team win 😊
From a proud south african supporter
South African here, excellent chats, knowledgeable, unbiased, nice format, dues given to either team for quality play. Cheers Gents.
Thank you so much for your unbiased view on the ref. I couldn't agree more. Some iffy decisions both ways
This show is simply fantastic. So balanced. Well done.
The Boks are definitely expecting the AB's to bounce back, we would expect nothing less.
True I have to say It would be nice for the boks to win for morale
10 mins in and it’s already a great, level headed convo on the controversies of the game. Gotta love these 3. Almost as much as I love a good Boks/ABs game, up the boys next week let’s go!
Good morning from SA 🇿🇦
Great analysis, you guys are the best technical crew. Also the fact that you don’t moan about refs is much appreciated.
We played 💩for 60mins. Expect a vastly improved Springbok side this weekend !!!
I agree. We will be much better come Saturday.Internal searching will happen and the guys will be made aware of the fault on D and attack.Leaked soft tries
Always a great analysis!! Well done guys!!
Effectively, the ball has gone backwards out of the Bok hooker’s hands but forwards out of Barrett’s.
There is an argument that Mbonambi is ‘not in control of the ball’ when he grounds it but that is not a factor as per World Rugby’s laws around grounding the ball.
@@austingtir NZ need to be more disciplined.
Bongi was letting go off it before Barrett's arm even hit it.
Best Rugby ever Boks v All Blacks
As a neutral, this show is a lot easier to listen to than the other.. Great game , great analysis. Looking forward to the next match
If the ABs play a great game. The Springboks must be unreal to beat the All Blacks.
Springboks have to work on their passing and timing. Felt like junior level rugby from them at times, and the All Blacks punished them for it. When you got Tyrel Lomax passing better than backs, you know something's wrong, lol.
Another great pod. Analysis and insights are of the highest quality.
This is such an excellent show! Thank you!
Not sure ABs can blame altitude, in every game this year in the last quarter the ABs gave gone misssing..
True
Yeah, that's the result of the subs. But unlike the starting XV, the altitude would be affecting the subs more, further diminishing their performance.
Sure that got a great record winning in jhb.
@@icefarrow7959How does altitude affect the subs more? What you talking about?
This is definitely one of the best rugby talk shows.
As a saffa this is the most accurate unbiased show really love the guys keep up the great show mate
Sam Cane cleaned out Kolisi's cheek....that wasn't classy.
It was reviewed by the TMO. Noone wants to see Kolisi injured but it's a collision sport and it happens.
There were dangerous tackles not pinged from both sides, no point in singling people out.
Cane has form on that one.
Unfortunately it reminded me of the hit in the RWC final 🤦♂️
Uno the one when Siya lead with his head and made contact with an upright Ari's cheek which but somehow it had mitigation 🤦♂️😂🤷♂️
Just jokes bruz 🤣
I completely missed it in the match until they showed it but it didn't look good, Sammy was very fortunate not to go again.
This Pod is better than the other one. Fair and unbiased
14:42 No way that 99% of people didn't give NZ a chance - NZ is always dangerous. Most people on the street and even pundits said it would be close within 5 points.
Phenomenal show guys. Pleasantly unbiased. I love listening to you guys talk rugby.
Love the podcast!!! Miles better than the breakdown
I think Mills is hanging with the wrong click. He tries his best to be level-headed, but the other two clearly rate controversy over sensible analysis.
You guys are consistently excellent, fair and informative. Unlike the breakdowns on The Breakdown (Mils excluded...)
It was a great game; sucked we lost, though that's sport.
Great game analysis, really enjoy this panels weekly pods
Ref was horrendous, springboks never say die attitude, ABs not scoring again in the last 20 min
Brilliant rugga podcast, good insight and excellent comments/thoughts.
Stupid comment
You lost it rather than south africa winning it
Like this show but you can do better than a lame comment like that
Great sides never give up
New Zealand used to be like the springboks are today
Great Game Analytics Gentlemen - Very Mature & Even: John Kirwan take note !! 😅
Great analysis Gents, keep it up, thank you,
Ofa isn’t up to it. Never has been.
I never liked him either but he was harshly yellow carded in that game it seemed to be more of a team yellow than him specifically because he came through the middle of that bok maul completely legally. But yeah Id like to see Tosi given a chance.
With Degroot out I hope George Bower is brought up to speed good all-rounder
Same, but with tamaiti, de Groot, Newell, Lomax, he won't be needed.

Excellent discussion! Fair and unbiased. Enjoyed this one. Let’s go match 2! All nerves should be settled by then.
I feel Razor is just not a good enough coach. I men seriously what has he done... taken the best super rugby team in history and won the competition, like wow big deal a truly great coach takes a team full of players who are not the best individually and turns them into the best team. It only takes an average coach to take the best players and turn them into the best team and now thats what we have with a pretty good group of A.B's playing pretty good rugby and that's just not good enough.
give it some time, he inherited a depleted team , big time players left in key positions...patience bro
Rubbish, they hadn't won anything in the 8 years before he arrived.
His last few years were marred with multiple injury crises, to the point where he was using a 37 year old player in the forwards, so you clearly don't know what you're talking about.
Love your work guys… balanced and very insightful stuff.
Dear All Blacks
Please continue not selecting your overseas players
Yours idiotically
Springboks
only when we become a third world country like you guys we will
It will happen one day but doesnt need to happen yet.
Also they pick up skills ordinarily not seen in SA. And ofcourse back home the new blood are filling the spots left open and playing URC, Currie cup, etc.
whatever the reasons that caused it, and those you listed are true. The benefits have been far beyond what anyone expected. The cause is not the point…the benefits are
Another accolade for your great analysis and insights.
I'm just waiting for Proctor to make his start against a hard team. I trust in Razor though, we never know whats going on in the training weeks.
@@PJSO I don't see any need for Proctor. Ioane is trustworthy in big games against big teams. Better than Proctor on attack and defense.
"Who cares if we lose?" 😮
@@rugbyunit6737 how can you say Ioane is better against bigger teams when Proctor hasn't played any? I'd play Proctor just to try to get a different picture in front of the Boks this weekend.
