    About the Gallery of Magick books, I always found very suspicious that, instead of quickly describing the meaning of the Hebrew words they use, they go to great lengths, which include a whole chapter, to explain why they don't do it. A brief explanation would have saved them some pages.

    This is one for the wish list. As much use as I've made of GoM materials, their refusal to get into theory or discuss their sources is a source of major frustration for those of us who want to know why something is done a particular way.

  • @MonkeyMac
    @MonkeyMac Год назад +6

    Both Swart and Gallery of Magick get their ideas from the Shorshei Ha-Shemot. This is referenced several times amongst their corpus of books. You can buy a very expensive English version, or several Herbrew editions.

    Swart is a great source for "authentic" Kabbalah, i.e. material based almost solely on Jewish sources. He also has published one work by his late teacher William G. Grey, called Western Inner Workings. I have all these texts and have read all but the last two. The first book, in my opinion, is a must read for anyone wanting to start down a true practical Kabbalaistic path, versus something like hermetic kabbalah. But even those people would benefit from the first book. He draws from lots of ancient source texts and explains them in a very easy to understand way. He also clarifies some origins and meanings of texts that are commonly disputed amongst both both Orthodox and non-Orthodox thinkers. He also despises elitism that runs rampant in the world of Kabbalah. He is a true mensch.

    this book and the next in the series are wonderful reference books, if you do anything with Kabbalah :D the first volume is a training manual, a lot of its techniques are basically the same as in Liber Null, and Initiation Into Hermetics, although with a Kabbalistic flavour, and stuff like chanting permutations of the Tetragrammaton, like in Abraham Abulafia's ecstatic Kabbalah; good choice and nice video! :D

    • @davidnagy1046

      Swart's (and his teacher's, William G. Gray's) system is still Hermetic Qabalah to some extent, but expanded with more Jewish Kabbalah, if you're into things like that, Gary Jaron's books on assigning the letters on the paths might also be interesting to you, and of course David Chaim Smith's contemplative Kabbalah too
      also, if you look for an interesting, Perennial/gnostic path, In Search of the Miraculous by P.D. Ouspensky is good

    I’m doing some research and I agree with one the comments, GoM most likely got inspired by shorshei ha shemot, the are 5 books that not available online. I also believe that Jacobous G was also inspired by Moshe Zacuto.

I'm a bit uncomfortable asking this, but I don't really know where to find a reliable source on this topic, so I just decided to ask you. I like your channel very much and can identify pretty well with your statements and wish you and your channel only the best. your channel really helped me to take the last step to magic because I was unsure if that's okay at all.

      Further to FF and Genghis, look at The Apprentice course, which is on the Quareia website in PDF form, available free - go to model one: Protection Magic. I can't remember if it was Glitch Bottle or Reddit, but one of Josephine's appearances in the last few months, but she advised a weekly ritual bath (instructions in model one) for a period of time - a few months I think. See 'Purification' - a card in her new deck, also available free on Quareia in PDF form, for a bit more insight into the process.

    Would it be possible to do something on the historical, spiritual and magickal beliefs and uses of stones, gems and especially crystals, across cultures, please? I’m always a bit suspicious about New Age beliefs on the properties of crystals as I have never been able to identify their sources. I know lapidary books go back to the 1600s and there are ancient Indian practices of wearing certain gems to mitigate karma. Aside from that, I can’t find anything. Also, my understanding is that Western Occult traditions view crystals more as containers for certain specific energies or even spirits while New Agers see them as something good just to have around. I wonder if by simply having them around they could result in unwanted effects. Lastly, in occultic terms, is salt considered a crystal? Is that why it can be blessed or ‘programmed’? Thank you
