Hello, I hope you of all people could answer my question. I want to buy the L-8 but nobody and I mean NOBODY has ever been able to tell me what I want to know about INPUTS and OUTPUTS. I use just one MIC let's say IN 1 all other stuff will be coming out from my computer (Windows 10), I want to send specific applications (iTunes, VLC, Nintendo Emulator) and other apps that make noise to each of the channels --as you do with windows sound settings panel--. How am I doing that now? some trickery with an Scarlett Solo 3rd Gen, ASIOLink pro software and Windows Sound Settings and mapping each app to a different ASIOLink pro input. The I pass it for processing on to REAPER which I have setup some plugins for noise reduction and EQ stuff. What do i want from the L-8? I want it to show as 8 INPUTS and 8 OUTPUTS not only on my DAW but on Windows so i can send apps and all that stuff to independent channels on the L-8 and control that sound coming out of the PC with Livetrack's faders. Can I do that?. I need to assign windows app to separate channels and bring those back into OBS, I'm currently using REAPER as a virtual mixer I do livestreaming to RUclips and I want to get rid of REAPER because of hardware restrictions, can the L-8 do that?. Many thanks for your excellent products.
Not sure if I'm late or not but I do know you can use OBS or some other software and put any recordings into the livetrak and effects such as the sound pad. You can do this via the two usb inputs for 1 through 4 channels (Not sure if you can do more like this). This way it should be interchangeable but I'm no expert. The mixer option will allow you to connect to the computer and you can interchange the audio with the Audio interface button. Hope this helps because it's a little confusing on what you're trying to do.
I'm sure you're aware of it by now but you're literally describing a GoXLR Mini (as I find the extra features on the non-mini version kind irrelevant). It has 4 input channels assigned to faders and an extra 3 digital inputs (that you could assign to the faders if you wanted). You can assign any software you want to any of these inputs in Windows. It has one Broadcast Stream Mix output that you choose as an input in OBS, a Chat Mic output a physical Line In and Line Out and a headphone output. The beauty is that you have a routing table in which you can literally select which inputs go to which outputs in a limitless fashion. You can literally mix them however you need. I know the price may sound expensive for some people but in your use case in which you just need one mic and the Livetrak inputs would be overkill it literally seems like exactly what you need.
If your guitar amp has a line output after the amp stage, you could record that directly, but unless it's a valve amp, then you may as well DI your guitar, record it and add cab/amp sims in post processing. The main way guitars (or any other instruments) are recorded through an amp is close-micing the amp, very often with the ubiquitous jack-of-all mic jobs Shure SM57.
@@nmfl100 Well... if your amp has a line out, then you would get some of that nice valve warmth through that and you could plug that into a mixer as a line input.

I love when he says... "record and play at the same time to record". Bringing back the old school recording days!! I like it!!! Showing my age now. :)
So true. That's the only "real" way to record :) Also in the digital world it would avoid mistakenly recording something when you don't want to.
