I believe a white faced watch is the most appropriate with a formal setting. Take Ashs' advice and wear a tie and spiff yourself up, your wife will smile and you will be happy .

Best advice ever is to think about what the bride is wearing... and useful advice for married life!

I strongly agree with the sentiment to wear a tie for the wedding. "If not now, when?"
My go to tie choice for weddings are light grey silk grenadine ties (reads as silver, both fina and grossa are fine). Combine it with a white linen pocket square and a boutonniere in a colour fitting the venue/theme, or a more jazzy silk paisley pocket square in a suitable colour combination.

    - Wear a tie.
    - Wear a pocket square.
    - Make sure the tailor also affixes buttons for the braces.
    - Wear the 'Bambino' (or something similar) as it is a classic and subdued watch. Skip the Tudor, Longines etc. watches as they are not discreet enough.
    - And as much as those working boots may be synonymous with Australia, stay clear of them and get hold of a decent pair of dress shoes.
Good luck and have a wonderful wedding!

I have big plans to wear morning dress to my wedding ceremony and white tie to the reception. I already do this for my birthday, anyway. I plan on having a string quartet and pianist playing Satie and Strauss rather than a DJ, and I'd love to do a Viennese waltz routine with my wife.

I say splendid plans sir. If I ever got married again the morning suit would be what I would choose. Ron

One can always take off the necktie for the reception. Also braces are a smart alternative to side adjusters. The tailor can add the brace buttons to the trousers. Clip on suspenders are a no-no for a proper wedding look. Just suggesting. Congratulations!

I admire the dedication and advice you provided to this gentleman for his wedding apparel. You are a fine chap Ash. Cheers!

I’d recommend that the chap have an extra matching shirt on the day of the wedding. If it’s going to be warm, one doesn’t want to look like a contestant at a wet T-shirt contest.

I'd agree with Ash here and consider adding a tie to the ensemble as well as taking into account what your bride is wearing - it's one of the very few occasions where you get to go for it & you don't want to be outshined by your bride as many grooms do by their Mrs. If you're really going for that summer look, a tan linen suit would hold up just as well.

If it helps.. I wore that exact same Peter Jackson suit to a real estate awards night jam packed with big earners, I did not look out of place. It’s a great suit generally speaking.

Excellent advice, Ash. A silver tie and the Bambino watch would compliment each other and go perfectly with the suit. I've read that a belt should not preferably be worn with a three piece suit as side adjusters or braces make for a cleaner line.
What might seem a little too formal to you now, Brad, will in time prove to be the right decision.
R.M Williams boots, fantastic footwear and classically Australian, great choice.
i would love to see cravats become more common. You just have to look at Cary Grant or David Niven to see how stylish, versatile and practical they are. It has recently been worn in the latest Mission Impossible movie.
Few people mention the after sales cost of 'high end ' watches. Potentially up to £200 in servicing every 3-4 years with the watch being at the manufacturer for about 3 months!

    Wear a silver Glencheck tie.

Congratulations Brad on your upcoming nuptials. I have to agree with Ash Wear a tie and a silver one would be smashing. Cutting the belt loops is a good idea and side adjusters would look great as long as you can match the suit material. I would go with buttons and braces as the suit can be used for other occasions down the road. As for footwear I would get a nice pair of black captoe oxfords. Boots are too informal. Just me. And the Orient Bambino would be a good idea. Best regards. Ron

First and foremost congratulations to you Brad!
I'd say wear a tie if you are already wearing a navy suit but if you feel it's too formal, wear a patterned blue informal cravat, a suit without any neckwear just looks sloppy and it's your wedding!
Plus a cravat in it's informal guise is well below the formality level of a tie so it won't break up any more relaxed beach-impressions.
Watchwise I'd also say go with the white-faced Bambino dress watch, I feel (and that's probably just me, stylistically I'm stuck in the early 20th century😉) the other options are just too "sporty", too casual.
Best regards and best wishes for your wedding

    Spot-on advice, Ash, as always.
People wear all sorts of things to weddings. Shorts and hawaiian shirts, jeans and t-shirts, or leather jackets and biker boots - if that what the wedding "theme" is.
But in this situation, if you're going to the bother of wearing a tailored suit - then wear a tie. (The silver one Ash suggested would be an excellent choice.)
I did a Google search for images of men in suits without ties at weddings, and without exception, no matter how handsome the groom, or well tailored the suit, it always looked just a little "off." Next to the bride in her dress, the fellow always looked overly casual or under-dressed.
As others have noted, if you want you can take the tie off for the reception. But I think you'll come to regret not wearing a nice tie for that special moment when you "tie the knot". (Sorry 'bout the unintentional pun...)

I would definitely go with a tie, especially because the wedding is not on the beach, but beach adjacent

Forget the waistcoat in hot weather, It's also important to get a suit made of a highly breathable fabric (e.g. Fresco wool, or wool/linen/silk blend) . Avoid fused suit construction. Same goes for the shirt - needs to be a natural breathable fabric. Finally, don't wear those work boots with a suit. Have a great day!

Braces! Buttons on the trousers. Clips are for little boys. Nice white formal braces.
Chelsea boots take a great mirror shine on the toe.

Terrible suit - too casual for the own wedding and furthermore looks 2 sizes too small. Terrible choice of footwear : brown never goes with navy and brown never suits for a wedding.
Completely agree with Ash - a ( silver) tie is needed.
Neither of the watches is appropriate. Divers Longines or Tudor are completely out of choice. Orient bambino would do, but in golden case on a black strap.
