    Any experience with opening them when locked? Just picked up an old mosler (30x53) with an outer door (unlocked) but also has a smaller safe inside (locked) and I don’t have the combo. Located out in Grimes. Nice to see another Iowa safe collector!

      If the manufacturer is Mosler, there are books that have lists of combinations in them. Is it removable? Not sure how to get the combo other than drilling or cutting or a pro with an auto dialer.

    Moved safes for 40 years, here’s a better way to go. Remove the door by simply lifting it off the hinge pins and strap to a small hand truck by itself, then reinstall after getting the safe body set in place. Btw, nice safe!

      Yes, I agree, but on the Diebold I mentioned, the door would not come off without breaking a weld. Thanks for the advice.

      Dear Jerry,
      I have to move a safe sometime in the next few years and was planning to do that. I am still, however concerned about getting it up a short hill. I my will go out the back door of the basement (on level ground) and then need to be taken around the side of the house and to the front. Any advice?

    Of course I moved mine (twice) with door closed and locked. God loves me: combination didn't get changed.

    Wheel drift & dial ring alignment are a common issue of lockouts from use and abuse. MOST Wheels are an interlocking gear design one tooth jump will throw it off! Same as a dial ring moving it will throw wheels off by a few numbers.

      Drift is the word of the day. Thanks for the comment. I never thought about using drift, I just know this happens.

    Could you make a video showing how to line the tumblers up and wat exactly to do in that situation. I just acquired a safe and I believe it has the same issue and I'm totally clueless how to fix it.

    Hey there. I have a large j & j Taylor safe that’s in very good condition. I’m trying to get a rough appraisal to sell it. Would I be able to message you?

    • @iowaunemployment
      @iowaunemployment  Год назад

      I would just go to Ebay and search completed auctions. I had a huge safe that could not be loaded by hand, and it took me 6 months to sell. How big?

      @@iowaunemployment about 5’ high by 3’x3’. It’s insanely heavy. Ok I’ll give that a try thank you

      @@AmB39 I would need a photo to tell you more. I got $275 out of my 3x3 cube. I was able to load it myself and delivered to the buyer who had a skid loader. The moving is the problem. Mine did not have original stencil. If it is original condition that makes a huge difference.

    Old cast iron vs safes of today?

      I would do the same. While digital acts differently, it is still subject to problems.
