Hi I'm picking one like that up in a few weeks. Is it easy to take the door off for transportation.its about 100 years old hinges are similar to this one ! Thanks
@@richardshackleton5681 Depending on the condition of the safe, dust rust etc., the door should lift up and off the hinges. Not only was this man's craftsmanship simply incredible - I'd say he not only restored the original safe but improved its original manufacturing significantly!
I think the people that made this safe would be blown away to see this restoration -a utilitarian work of art. It will make any room in which it sits a very royal room, indeed.

Великолепная работа👍👍 Только довольно странное решение сделать сейфу колёса, по-видимому чтобы грабителям было легче и быстрее его увезти чем вскрыть. Great job👍👍 Only a rather strange decision to make wheels for the safe, apparently to make it easier and faster for the robbers to take it away than to open it.
I said to myself: “if he takes all of that mechanism apart and manages to get it all back together and working I’ll be impressed”. Color me impressed 💯
My OCD was screaming at you when you attached the name plate with one slotted screw vertical and the other horizontal. I was very satisfied to see in the close-up at the end that you had adjusted them, THANK YOU! lol. Great job!
Unreal. Nothing I can say has not already been said a thousand times. That said, it would be interesting to see a birds-eye time-lapsed view of the sheer amount of time and labor and motion that goes into one of these projects. Fantastic work, in any case. I have a safe like this in my basement, was here when I bought the house…..however it’s 5 feet tall, and weighs over 1000 pounds. I’m hoping to restore it some day, I think this video will help. Thanks 👍
Its not that hard to do paint wise this guy here is a pro and its not that big a safe. This is how the big ones are redone .. . Spray on automotive paint stripper aka " aircraft remover "and a stainless dish scrubber will make quick work of the old paint. Now repaint it completely outside w black traditionally. I prefer black engine crinkle paint myself .. but whatever you want. . And then paint an acrylic scene landscape usually on the front of the safe and gold line around it. You can use automotive edge strip if youd prefer ... Then clear varnish the entire safe an extra coat on the front.
Not gonna lie. I knew this was going to look great when you were done. But I wasn't prepared for it to look THAT amazing! Fantastic work on the safe. On the filming. On the editing. All of it.

Видимо под конкретные хотелки делалось, надо периодически вбок перемещать. Что катить что тащить - без особой разницы, по лестнице не покатишь, и все равно ж до машины только :)
I bought a nice (it was pictured as complete) at government auction a safe made of half inch plate designed for a two drawer file cabinet. When I drove over two hours to get it I saw that all the internals had been removed. No S&G lock, no locking bolts or arms and no handle etc. I had to make all the parts without the aid of having another to compare to. I got a new S&G lock on eBay and then began. Large bearing rollers worked well for the locking bolts being hardened steel. Figuring out the wheel to retract the horizontal bolt was about the most difficult part.
Seen a lot of restoration videos and this has to be the most captivating from beginning to end. To see your work progress and vast array of equipment used, especially all of the machining, is very cool my friend.
