My boyfriend played this for me while I was driving him to the airport to go back home. It was 4 in the morning, and the 30 minute car ride had been mostly silent, with music playing softly in the background. My face was covered in dried up tears because It was going to be a very long time before I got to see him again, kiss him again. He told me this was one of his favorite Modern Baseball songs. We just listened quietly together. It was such a tragic beautiful moment. What a great song.

I love every song and I still enjoy listening to them but I have this pain in my chest for the really broken young girl who found this band.I’m so grateful I had Modern Baseball when I was at my lowest. Crazy to think that this band saved me so many times. I saw them live at Byron Bay Falls festival in 2016 crying and yelling every lyric was one of the most healing things I’ve experienced. Story time kiddos! Y’all don’t have to read but if you do then I fucking applaud you for it. I’m 19 now and high school feels like a distant memory now but it’s also all very fresh. I was best friends with the same girl all the way from back in second grade and we talked constantly and it was fucking great. Along comes sophomore year and my parents divorced, and of course me already suffering from depression went into a whole tail spin. When my mom and I moved into our new apartment the previously mentioned friend helped me move my stuff into my new room in the attic when I finally and genuinely asked her if she wanted to be together and she said yes with this giggle that lit up my world and this look in her eyes that melted my heart. A week later we shared our first kiss and it is a moment that has always been vivid in my mind and I cherish it every day. As time passed we spent every moment we could together along with sordid friends and people from clubs at school, she was in marching band so of course I went to every game so I could see her play and I was in musicals so she always came to my shows. Fast forward to today when I wish I could say this has a happy ending. That we are still together and moving in and things are still amazing but no. Painfully that’s not the case. The fact that I just found this song reminded me of just how bad I fucked it all up. After two and a half years I left her and it was the dumbest thing I ever did. It was two weeks from prom after she already said yes, a week after my senior show where I told her backstage that everything would be ok, a month after making plans to be together forever. Like an idiot I broke it off and whether it was out of fear or a need to get away for a while I don’t know. We still talk and we are at the same college now. Things aren’t the same and I acted like an asshole for a while after which only hurt her more. Now she’s with a new guy and they are getting along amazingly and I’m happy for her. Even though it means that even if I wanted we can’t hang out really cause she’s too busy between work and the boy friend. Like i said though, not a day goes by where I don’t think of her or her smile, that giggle, listening to her sing while I’m pretending to sleep on a road trip, swimming in the summer, vacations in the south, naps after school, Christmas Eve in each other’s arms, it’s all still there and it hurts but it’s beautiful. markedgroo 0 weird times we live in my friend, we are both in turbulent relationships right now. The boyfriend has walked out on her a couple of times and I’m with a girl who wants me more than I want her as i hastily jumped into a relationship to not be alone (again I’m not the best person I guess but we are all flawed. We are at different schools now but growing closer again strangely. She’s going through some rough times and I’m just trying to be a good friend. I still truly want her back but I don’t know if she feels the same anymore though when we do see each other it feels like a spark is still there. I never connected with someone so fast, we went from complete strangers to knowing every detail about each others lives within a week, learning how we both view life in the same light, I never felt like my time with someone mattered so much. I don’t know if this answer is gonna be what you want it to be, but what worked best for us was actually not putting the pressure on for it to last forever because we’re so young. Like literally. We would have REGULAR check-ins of “hey we’re young and our minds change at the speed of light, you still feeling this relationship?” All throughout high school up until we moved in together. And we just got stupidly lucky. If I were you that’s what I’d keep in mind, remember how fast things change in high school and don’t put too much pressure on anything to last forever. And make sure you communicate lots because that’s important. If it’s right it will last forever anyways:)

I know that feeling. The best thing you can do for yourself and her is to give space. Dont text for like a month or so give it time then just try and strike up casual conversation. Don’t multi text. I remember one girl. I was so desperately in love and I didn’t even know why. When she lost interest I didn’t know what to do. I texted this girl over and over and over trying to apologize. It was obsessive behavior it was unacceptable. Sometimes there is no reason and you just have to accept that things are as they are and maybe she will come back and maybe she won’t. I eventually moved on some months later and I’m with the most stunning woman I could have ever dreamt of. So my advice buddy. Be kind to yourself be kind to her create space for yourself and for her even if she never asked. But don’t do it for her do it for you. Get out of your own head get lost and find yourself. Then if in the future you find someone or if that special lady comes back maybe you’ll be more ready this time and it’ll workout. But be prepared when it goes nowhere. Be good to yourself. Love yourself. Find love in someone else. Don’t lament on what was or what could’ve been think about what is. Thats my advice for you from a man who was in your shoes not long ago. Story time kiddos! Y’all don’t have to read but if you do then I fucking applaud you for it. I’m 19 now and high school feels like a distant memory now but it’s also all very fresh. I was best friends with the same girl all the way from back in second grade and we talked constantly and it was fucking great. Along comes sophomore year and my parents divorced, and of course me already suffering from depression went into a whole tail spin. When my mom and I moved into our new apartment the previously mentioned friend helped me move my stuff into my new room in the attic when I finally and genuinely asked her if she wanted to be together and she said yes with this giggle that lit up my world and this look in her eyes that melted my heart. A week later we shared our first kiss and it is a moment that has always been vivid in my mind and I cherish it every day. As time passed we spent every moment we could together along with sordid friends and people from clubs at school, she was in marching band so of course I went to every game so I could see her play and I was in musicals so she always came to my shows. Fast forward to today when I wish I could say this has a happy ending. That we are still together and moving in and things are still amazing but no. Painfully that’s not the case. The fact that I just found this song reminded me of just how bad I fucked it all up. After two and a half years I left her and it was the dumbest thing I ever did. It was two weeks from prom after she already said yes, a week after my senior show where I told her backstage that everything would be ok, a month after making plans to be together forever. Like an idiot I broke it off and whether it was out of fear or a need to get away for a while I don’t know. We still talk and we are at the same college now. Things aren’t the same and I acted like an asshole for a while after which only hurt her more. Now she’s with a new guy and they are getting along amazingly and I’m happy for her. Even though it means that even if I wanted we can’t hang out really cause she’s too busy between work and the boy friend. Like i said though, not a day goes by where I don’t think of her or her smile, that giggle, listening to her sing while I’m pretending to sleep on a road trip, swimming in the summer, vacations in the south, naps after school, Christmas Eve in each other’s arms, it’s all still there and it hurts but it’s beautiful. So yea that’s a thing. Enjoy the song everyone, keep listening to music it’s a helluva thing for us all.

I don’t know if this answer is gonna be what you want it to be, but what worked best for us was actually not putting the pressure on for it to last forever because we’re so young. Like literally. We would have REGULAR check-ins of “hey we’re young and our minds change at the speed of light, you still feeling this relationship?” All throughout high school up until we moved in together. And we just got stupidly lucky. If I were you that’s what I’d keep in mind, remember how fast things change in high school and don’t put too much pressure on anything to last forever. And make sure you communicate lots because that’s important. If it’s right it will last forever anyways:)

I know that feeling. The best thing you can do for yourself and her is to give space. Dont text for like a month or so give it time then just try and strike up casual conversation. Don’t multi text. I remember one girl. I was so desperately in love and I didn’t even know why. When she lost interest I didn’t know what to do. I texted this girl over and over and over trying to apologize. It was obsessive behavior it was unacceptable. Sometimes there is no reason and you just have to accept that things are as they are and maybe she will come back and maybe she won’t. I eventually moved on some months later and I’m with the most stunning woman I could have ever dreamt of. So my advice buddy. Be kind to yourself be kind to her create space for yourself and for her even if she never asked. But don’t do it for her do it for you. Get out of your own head get lost and find yourself. Then if in the future you find someone or if that special lady comes back maybe you’ll be more ready this time and it’ll workout. But be prepared when it goes nowhere. Be good to yourself. Love yourself. Find love in someone else. Don’t lament on what was or what could’ve been think about what is. Thats my advice for you from a man who was in your shoes not long ago. This song hurts my heart,, this year I’ve grown detached from someone who got me through last year, I needed him a lot and it was Perfect. However, people change. He doesn’t seem to care to talk to me and is happy with someone new and this song just reminds me that I’m not over him. Man this is painful.
This song reminds me of the boy I wish I could of have. He liked me a lot and I was too afraid to tell him how I felt. I have always adored him and always told him I didn’t like him because all I wanted to do was protect him and I. I didn’t want to hurt him or ruin our friendship. I was all on his mind, home coming night he tried to kiss me. I got scared and backed away. He then fell for my best friend and forgot about me and started hating me, she lied to me and got with him. The way he looked at you made you feel like you didn’t need anyone else. I never took someone for granted as much as much in my life. I wish I never ignored the signs. He made me laugh and smile more than anything else in this world. I miss him STILL to this day.
