  • This is the setup that I took on my recent Munda Biddi record attempt, finishing the trail in 4 days, 6 hours and 39 minutes, smashing the previous record by 30 hours!
As you can see this is a very minimalist setup designed for the speedier trips, but hopefully you can take a few tips for any length trip to make your bike lighter and ride easier. Just head out there to ride and have some fun!!!
A massive thanks to Bicycle Centre Cannington, Wembley Cycles and Cycles Bespoke for all their help and advice to set it all up.
Also a big thanks to my sponsors

@declan why did you de ide SP hub compared to Son dynamo hub? Ive been told Son Hubs are better quality and charge at slower speeds?
Interested in you thoughts over the two brands and comment on SP quality.
      Thanks

4 days! Awesome work mate. Lots of these bikepacking setup vids suck but we all watch them anyway to prep if we are doing one ourself. This video was awesome, I think I'm going to steal your pvc hack that's frigging awesome. I also have an sol bivvy and I was wonder what kinda temps did you get down to with that sleeping bag? I never usually subscribe to channels when I'm research but I will to this one. Awesome work!

Thanks for the feedback! It took a lot of time to get the bike right. I have since used the same setup on my CX bike for a ride across India and Nepal, it works well! Let me know how oyu go with the PVC hack

@@declanvondietze4541 The PVC hack is awesome however I did it slightly different as I dont have aero bars I cut 2 45* cuts and ran it from my bars to the headset spacer, which I glued, provide a good mount for my light and gopro on either side. Back to the bivvy what temps could your get down to with that sleeping bag?

I've seen so many of these videos and they always suck. But this one was great! Plenty of detail (but not too much), loads of unique and simple tricks for keeping the weight down, and a really nice bike. I dig. How was the bivy in terms of condensation?

Thanks Max, i am pretty new to the world of videos and bikeepacking so its great to hear people like what i have to say. The condensation wasn't too bad on all bar one night, but it was a lot lighter and easier than the other options I had in mind. We aren't very humid here in WA so it made it a lot easier in that respect

Hey how did you get noticed like in articles and that also how much training did you do ?

I worked with the government departments for a media plan to help highlight the trail as well as myself. It was about a 12 month training plan to get ready for the event with around 20-25hrs a week for 4 months before the ride. Hope this helps?
