I just wear a backpack book bag like I do all 365 days a year since 1973. I’ve ridden across USA 4x India 2x China, Aussie and Europe with a backpack. Never had a problem. It’s kinda nice because people think I’m just riding across town Even when I’m riding across a continent LoL
I've bought exact same under-top-tube bag for my 26" mtb-country bike (one day rides), it holds spare tube, patches, multitool, sandwich, some cookies, banana, swimming trunks, left side pocket for a phone. Like you noticed - it allows space to lift bottle from seat tube holder. As my frame is small, bottle on downtube conflicts with a bag to an extent but shouldn't be problem on 28" (larger) frames.
i have the roswheel handlebar bag and found the same issue with the straps you did. i just took some old inner-tubes and cut 2 lengths of it then used those to wrap under the bag and up over the bars spaced to about where my bar tape ends before the stem. this seems to keep the bag from moving and because it is the tube rubber it wont mar anything up and will stretch to fit the bar bag in different configurations. this way the weight of the bag is supported from underneath so you wont have to worry about the webbing failing either. i have used a similar system to this for a number of trips and so far no complaints .. and as you pointed out it may not have some of the better features but at 1/4 of the cost.. hard to complain.
After watching this video and comparing reviews online, I ended up going with a middle of the road set-up and outfitted my bike with Topeak Bags. They're definitely not cheap, but they are about half the cost of the higher end bags while being about "as good" in quality. If there's something I learned from backpacking, you don't go too cheap with the pack. It'll just end up breaking and carrying poorly and then you end up paying twice UNLESS, you can't afford something better then yeah, go cheap and use the hell out of it. Sometimes you get lucky and what you get cheap ends up lasting you longer than the expensive stuff, but that's rare and you only find out by taking the chance and spending the money. I think that the Topeak set-up is a good compromise and they back their stuff up. All my Amazon bags of other types (smaller bags) have all failed me in normal use. I'm done renting bags. I'd like to end up with something that'll last me for more than a year or a few rides. I think $100 is a fair budget to start out with then one figures out what they need as their needs make themselves known. I think the premium bags are well worth their costs, but I don't need that much of a build for the riding I do. I lucked out with the Topeak kit. Got a 15L Backloader for $125, the Toploader for $35 and a 6L Midloader for $65, all green and green's about $10+ more per bag. The black ones were noticeably cheaper. I was going to get the Frontloader for around $75, but ended up using a 10L SealLine dry bag I have with a couple of cheap straps and an accessory bracket for a total of $40 ($15 for dry bag and $25 for bracket & straps) and it's a much stronger & more convenient set-up. Thanks for this video. It helped me in my decision making. BTW, if you got stuck in the woods and couldn't move, you could invert that rear saddle bag inside/out and use it as a flag. Blue is the other color besides blaze orange that sticks out in the woods. It would make for a high visibility signaling device.
I am using Rockbros saddle bag 14l and handlebar bag. I think it is the same lineup as the frame and top tube bag, and the front one is very good, millions of ways to strap it to handlebar, comes with foams, has webbing on front, and both are pretty waterproof, don't ask me how I know it 🙃
Grig Hambardzumyan I was looking at the rockbros handlebar bag as well.. looks really nice, but was a bit more expensive and didn’t fit my goal for this project, looks like a better solution for sure though.
a friend of mine used the roswheels bags during a bike touring trip to Taiwan last year. I was using the revelate bags. we came to the same conclusion regarding the handlebar bag. he tried to modify the bag by switching to a shorter strap but it gave even more issues as the straps were not able to hold the bag and it fell off many times on the first 2 days of the trip. the seatpack was better but the material was quite thin and rubbing against the seat collar destroyed it as well.
My first time watching one of your videos. Excellent film production skills. Plus your very personal and honest presentation style along with your subtle sense of humor are great. Really enjoyed it and now subscribe. As a serious cyclist, I'll add... that's a badass OPEN! Hats off!
Handlebar bag is identical with Lidl bags sold in UK 3 years ago. I use one of them. I use a handlebar extension as well which fixes the problem with this bag. Regards,
Great review! Hey I like the Rockbros bags a lot, and they make a very high quality watrproof tail bag too. I use the Apidura waterproof tail bag and bought the Rockbros tail bag for my wife .. and to tell you the truth they are about identical in function and almost similar in quality! Except the Rockbros tail bag cost 1/3 as much and has a bit more capacity. She also got the larger Rockbros frame bag which I am envious of compared to my pricey Blackburn frame bag. I am not happy with my Apidura front roll bag, so looking for alternatives now - maybe Rockbros. She has been using the Rockbros stuff for a year now, and it is like new - just finished a 4 day trip today.
I have used a big sleeping bag compression bag with a plastic bag and a strap. Put the handle loop over my seat, twisted it and tied a strap around it and through my saddle. I also used two rubber bands (cut from an old bike tire) to tie a bag between the handlebars. Used it in summer in pretty good weather, with minimal gear on overnighters. Cost me 0€
Thanks for the great info. Consider buying lengths of Velcro to use as extra straps, there's not much it can't do. I also use it as a handbrake, lean the bike anywhere with Velcro lightly wrapped around the lever and handlebar. 😊
So I spent 130GBP on a handlebar roll, 30 on a top tube bag, 100 on a half frame bag, & something like 150 on a seat pack. Total: £410 which sounds like a lot, but as I often use the thing off road, often fully loaded (which really tests the quality of the bags) & pretty much every single day, it was worth every penny. Revelate make incredibly functional & strong kit, Salsa a close second & Topeak are definitely better than Roswheel & Rockbros without breaking the bank. I'd never go lower than Topeak myself because I use this kit all the time & really load it up & ride off road. If I was a weekend warrior or just wanted to do one short tour, then I would definitely consider Roswheel &/or Rockbros.
I've got the rockbros tail, frame, toptube and front handlebar bag x2. Had them all for a year. Use the tail bag for commuting and is holding up well. The whole setup I used for LEJOG. They were great. Front handlebar bag too. One hangs on top of the other and is great for easy access snacks etc. Can recommend.
do your knees rub on the frame or toptube bags? how wide are they? I have a cheap amazon toptube bag that I got a long time ago and I never use it because I hate the knee rub
Do you use the Rockbros handlebar bag on dropbar handlebar or a wide bandlebar? I do have the accesory bag , frame and tail bag from roclbros and love them, just looking for a good alternstive for handlebars.
I use a rear rack and panniers, and it was not enough capacity. Added a small front rack, seat bag, and a second water bottle, better. Bought a Wald basket for more cargo capacity the large size is not heavy duty, so it would be a sleeping bag, tent, sleeping pad, laundry bag, sandal holder. Getting ready for the Great American Rail Trail.
lol I just had a rear rack, layed a black plastic bag over it, strapped all my clothes and tent across the rack My tent poles were laying forwards on the rack, I then strapped another black bag over the top and strapped it all down to the rack I would use one of the bags and some soap to 'wash' my clothes and then strap my clothes across the top of the rack to dry with air I had a few bits and bobs that i just stuffed into little pockets strapped down to the rack C02, spare tube and that, great fun : )
I bought that same roswheel handlebar bag and had the same problem with the straps being way too long. I got the roswheel frame bag at the same time and those straps were too short. I put the handlebar bag straps on the frame bag, and the frame bag straps on the handlebar bag to get it to work.
I have the front bag by Newbowler, same bag and price but with the flaws in the straps fixed. So top straps velcro on the whole strap and bottom one way longer.
I had looked at some rockbros bags not that I plan on any bikepacking trips but it would be nice to have some snack storage. I have a small bag now for my multitool and other little odds and ends.
I have used the roswheel saddle bag for over a year commuting and for a 2day bikepacking trip. Does the job, definitely not waterproof, and seams are starting to crack, and the rub with the seat bolt has created a hole. Overall, not bad for 29$
I have a hybrid bike that I added a back & front rack to. I use the traditional ortlieb 4 pannier set up when touring. If I am going out for a shorter ride, i just remove the panniers and use the ortlieb handlebar bag, frame bag(cost $16 on amazon)...and I have a topeak bag that slides into rails on the back rack. So i haven’t invested in any of the new expensive dedicated “bike bags”. I know some people love them, and I guess they make more sense if riding single track over a pannier set up....but I prefer my panniers set up. It’s all good tho. Whatever works for you.
Did you consider using triangle in-frame bag instead of rectangular one? You would have 2 bottles along low tube (assuming you have mounting points for this) and the space would be more efficiently used. I just recently bought handlebar harness from Polish company Triglav and it looks much better than both harnesses you showed -- mainly because it has bungee cord on top and other loops and "hooks" so you can easily attach whatever you want and the price is moderate, $50 (disclaimer: I tested it just on 2 rides now). Good addition to handlebar are super cheap bottle "holders" from Decathlon (BTwin). They are a bit thick so they keep the temperature of the drink in the bottle for some time, pity they are only in black. And they use the best straps I have seen so far, single sided velcro with silicon on the side, just perfect.
@@ridesofjapan Ok, just clarification, I was just referring to shape (triangle vs. rectangular), not size. Triangle bag would allow you to keep poles inside it.
Would love to see an update of this , a lot more AliExpress etc brands doing what looks like decent stuff. Watched this first time around, and watching it again 👍
I have been using that cheap Roswheel front harness for 2 years. Didn't think it will last more than a couple months but it did, not a tear, even the lame straps are doing ok. Hacked my Ortlieb Accessory Pack on it, the mount is reliable. The drybag is too tight though. I wouldn't really recommend it either but it's decent.
I just use a pair of kinda big rear paniards that i paid maybe $50 for. They are waterproof and seem very sturdy, and i can fit almost all my gear (including 2 person tent, 2 small sleeping bags, 1 inflatable sleeping pad, and my alcohol stove set) in just one of these, which leaves me with PLENTY of space for food or extra clothes or whatever i would want to bring. Having all the weight on the rear wheel is not ideal for loose gravel or mud, but it works good enough (for me) on asphalt and dirt roads, so i dont feel any need to improve this setup...
I have the same company bags. Luckily my handlebar bag is wedged in between my cables so it's snug. I use the rockbros rear saddlebag. It's pretty large. I use the company called moose treks full frame bag. Awesome bag so far. On a budget? Get those bags 100%
Just a small correction, I'm pretty sure those are suzumushi (some kind of cricket), not only cicada. I have thousands of them outside my bedroom window... Great videos though. Keep it up!
Roswheel made a big investment in a new line. Designed by former Rapha designer Miles Gibbons. Good looking bags, much nicer than the roswheel stuff you purchased (which seems previous generation). Worth having a look if you are in the market for bike bags!
Correct, problem is the price went up as well... so the new ones was not an option for this little project. The new ones looks nice though... played around with them at cycle mode Tokyo last year.
I just spent about 300€ for my bags. I compared cheaper options but more expensive bags are also much lighter and fully waterproof which saves me about 500g of dead weight
Nice video, i was thinking about getting these cheaper bikepacking bags, but on second thought i decided to go with Ortlieb handle bar bag and gravel panniers, top tube bag and frame bag are from Blackburn, now i'm happy with my setup 😁
Saddle bag: Just put a plastic bag in first, then add your stuff in. And voilà! Webbing? Go to a good outdoor store and buy a bungee cord then either wrap it around or make a loop at the end and have it sewed to the bag.
I like the idea of backpacking but I would hate actually doing it. Lol it's good to know it's more affordable than I previously thought, I guess. Thanks for making this video
Would’ve gone slightly over the budget but Lezyne makes really cheap and quality bags. Their only downside is they aren’t waterproof just water resistant.
I bet you could do a hack with a zip tie or some other strap on the Roswheel front bag for that strap that doesn't reach around your down tube. It would reduce the bag bouncing. Surprised you didn't think of that.
i went for the full rockbros setup (seatbag, framebag and frontbag) they look a lot like the ortlieb, and the seatbag is really really waterproff, it was 125 dollars the entire pack (4 bags, the 3 mentioned abobe and a small front bag that can be used with the big frontbag or alone)
Great information! I think I'm gonna get those bar bags immediately... and look into the larger saddle bag (or whatever you called that bag behind your seat.) I'm very new to distance riding and would love to camp California overnight soon before the weather turns!
I like your setup, I think I would just swap out the sausage bag in the rear for a large carradice bag. Which is about $100 by itself but imo it would be worth splurging on that one... but you could also find a cheaper bag in the same style
Funny that you prefer the black color on the Roswheel bag instead of the colors on the Apidura. Bike gear nowadays looks so boring all in black and dark grey.
Interesting - I thought the manual to the Roswheel handlebar bag says one should attach the middle strap to stem and then tighten the other two straps around handlebar. I use it that way and is actually quite stable (as well as avoid scratching my head tube). But maybe tis way it won't work on OpenUP. Who knows...
Are you psychic? I was looking at most of this on Amazon the other day. And wondered if they would be worth my time or should I invest in the more expensive stuff! Thanks for taking the time to make it
On frame bags, you typically won't see many ports added to welded bags. The main benefit of welding is creating a fully waterproof bag, so effectively adding "holes" to it can defeat the purpose of using that method of construction. To second what someone mentioned below, Rockbros is notorious for knocking off small company's designs and cost engineering to bring it in cheap. Google "rock brothers spurcycle" and check out the cyclingtips article. Fully legal, but kinda sleazy if you ask me.
topeak make really good bags for the price. my topeak bags has equal quality to my apidura ones for roughly half the price. alpkit are ok and used to be a good option imo but i dont think i would bother with how much they charge nowadays...
I love the video post! I’m wondering if you have found or if someone else would recommend a different budget HANDLEBAR bag that would be a better option than the one in the video
You could add water proof bags to go inside each bag which I do even if the bag claims it’s water proof, and you can spray water proof on each bag. Water proof bag - wal mart price varies with size but I got a med one for 5-10 Can of water proof spray 7$ish Once can should do all of those bags
the easiest way is to just put stuff in plastic bags before loading into frame bags. Spray coatings usually do not work well to keep water out after they get dirt on them, or a little wear. Plus seams are hard to seal.
Mark Connelly Honestly I never had any issue with using water proof spray on my gear. I have dont this for years with my military gear that’s been used in combat and training / working in every environment imaginable around the world
I have almost the same configuration and also decided to go with this brands beacuse of the price. I don't get the idea of overpriced bike bags, maybe it's just fashion. I also had problems with the handlebar bag with the bar straps Velcro being too small but for the head tube no problems on my Giant Defy 2016.
Yes very interesting on his choices Definitely saved quite a bit of money and very similar to my setup. Please tell me what you think ruclips.net/video/JsUTt4meZPk/видео.html
Great information as always, yeah, here in the outskirts of Madrid those damn noisy bugs are a pain too, I mean seriously some times it gets over bearing! The heat here, well we hit up to 41°!!! Now it's 36-38° still very hot for me at least. Your bike, and gear setup, very nice in deed all so clean :-) Love your videos!!! Seeing bits of Japan is so fantastic, thanks for that too!!
Haha, for us living in the cold north lots of crickets and cycades are the epitome of holidays. They stand for cozy, warm evenings with lounge music and a glass of wine while enjoying the view at the stars and the yachts drifting in the marina.
Great video! I'm liking your content more and more every time. It would be great to have a follow up on this bags, to see how they age, how durable they are Keep the good work, cheers
Cheers mate! Will sell these bags most likely, while nice (3 of them) like I said in the video, neither will replace my “expensive” bags, so a long term follow up will be hard to do.
Think rain when buying bikepacking bags. What country gets a lot of rain? Scotland. There is a company called LOMO watersports that makes excellent cheap BP bags.
Great! Thanks for the info and time spent. Topeak makes a great 'affordable' handlebar bag too that I really like, but I'd be hard pressed to pass up my Revalate Designs seat pack for anything else.
I used a ROCKBROS top tube bag last year just like the one from your clip and it didnt work for me, it is just a cheap option but not weather resistance at all.
they seem pretty good! you have to shop around to make sure you are getting all the features, there are definitely crappy bags in this price range I would totally relocate the velcro straps on the handlebar bag, order some straps on amazon I don't tour with frame bags or saddle bags, cuz I hate anything brushing against my legs or thighs, even though they're more aero : )
Cheating out on bikepacking bags is a great way to have a horrible trip. As you showed with your front bag, expectations can be shattered in seconds if the attachment system is not up to the task. You never know until out on the trail putting them through their paces, sometimes far from a place where you might be able to repair them. I have seen stitching fail and straps no longer hold after only 5 or 10 miles.
I'm sure you can easily find a double-sided velcro strap, cut it to the length you need and use that to extend the short strap from the handlebar bag. Loose bag problem solved.
Great video, You have a new follower...wondering what kind a bike are You using there (I see it’s a gravel) planning on getting a Gravel Bike next year. Bike packing is definitely a topic. Thanks for a great breakdown. Yes the Handlebar hanging thing isn’t so great😀
Excellent! I was looking for some cheap bike packing bags as I don’t do it often enough to justify buying premium ones and these look to fit the bill except for the front load bag. Though if I may ask, will the straps scruff my bike frame? As I would hate to see scruff marks cause of the Velcro straps. Thanks!
Rides of Japan from my understanding, bike tapes adhesive is quite strong, how would one remove after the trip? Is hot air blower fine for carbon bikes?
Yo! Open brother! Do you have problem with your front handlebar bag rubbing on your front tyre? Im trying to set up my Open for a 300km Audax and I cant seem to fit a handlebar bag because Ive got the front end slammed so much. The best I can find is a small 1.5 L back to store a few things. Im assuming its a common problem but I've seen no one mention it yet.
Hey mate! I run the Revelate design Pronghorn in the smallest size... if I just that on I have plenty of space to spare, but I'm no fully slammed and my Open is a Size L. With the revelate extra "pouch" on the front, I have a lot less clearance... I show it here: ruclips.net/video/3ZdbyDo3n9g/видео.html Usually when I go packed I raise the stem a spacer or so just to get some more clearance.. the Open is pretty low for gravel bike though... Are you on a medium?
@@ridesofjapan Cheers thanks. Yeah on a medium and running no steerer spacers. Im searching around for the perfect sized bag. they're all either too big or too small. I think about 3 to 5 L would be perfect. Ill keep looking! Cheers.
i love the $100 bag setup right next to the Dura-Ace levers lmao

If I am going out for a shorter ride, i just remove the panniers and use the ortlieb handlebar bag, frame bag(cost $16 on amazon)...and I have a topeak bag that slides into rails on the back rack. So i haven’t invested in any of the new expensive dedicated “bike bags”. I know some people love them, and I guess they make more sense if riding single track over a pannier set up....but I prefer my panniers set up. It’s all good tho. Whatever works for you.
Yours is the way to go. Keeps the centre of gravity low.
I don’t need much space for my short trips to a full frame bag has never been on my radar.
Why did I not think of using the same strap for top tube and frame bag ? Thanks !
I have the same company bags. Luckily my handlebar bag is wedged in between my cables so it's snug.
I use the rockbros rear saddlebag. It's pretty large.
I use the company called moose treks full frame bag. Awesome bag so far.
On a budget? Get those bags 100%
Thank you for your research and honest opinion. I will look into these options.
Hey there. Thanks. I just ordered both Rockbros bags. I'll let you know how it goes. Maybe. If I remember. Still, thanks.
very economical set up bro.. im moving towards bikepacking now.. thank u for sharing.
Just a small correction, I'm pretty sure those are suzumushi (some kind of cricket), not only cicada. I have thousands of them outside my bedroom window...
Great videos though. Keep it up!
I like Rockbros. Quality for cost, they are just right.
Those Rockbro bags look of the same quality as the Rapha one’s. Wouldn’t be surprised if they’re the same. The markup would be huge!
pretty sure that the Rapha bags are made by Apidura
I've used a rockbros saddle bag for 4 years, no issues.
I compared cheaper options but more expensive bags are also much lighter and fully waterproof which saves me about 500g of dead weight
what bags are you using? 500 gr seems huge
@@losFondos Apidura expedition bags
Nice video, i was thinking about getting these cheaper bikepacking bags, but on second thought i decided to go with Ortlieb handle bar bag and gravel panniers, top tube bag and frame bag are from Blackburn, now i'm happy with my setup 😁
The issue is PRICE. That's what this video is about.
Saddle bag:
Just put a plastic bag in first, then add your stuff in. And voilà!
Their only downside is they aren’t waterproof just water resistant.
true waterproof is expensive to make compared to just coated fabric.
The Rockbros 8l frame bag is great, there are plenty of other ways to carry water more efficiently so maybe try a different tack.
I wish I saw this before I invested in my current bags. Great vid.
I can totally recommend the handlebar bag. Done with it two trips (one week each). But I also replaces the straps. Than it worked for me.
the two rockbros bags actually look quite premium at first glance; seem good value
I'm voting with both of my hands for RockBros and RosWheel Chinese brands. I have lots of their equipment and it is usually good bang for the buck
Ivo Roilev Does the waterproofing really work on the RosWheel bags?
Yes for me RockBros was definitely the way to go

Not my best video
But please tell me what do you thank
Great video! Super informative, great production and entertaining as usual 👍 also just ordered the frame bag. Thanks!
Just bought the latest roswheel waterproof bike packing bags these are called the attack series cheap as chips and fully waterproof
Great video man !Thanks a lot
Dry bags, nylon straps and/or bungees. I have seen dry bags from six euros in t'Netherlands and on fleabay.
Great information! I think I'm gonna get those bar bags immediately... and look into the larger saddle bag (or whatever you called that bag behind your seat.)
I'm very new to distance riding and would love to camp California overnight soon before the weather turns!
Man those rack for back packing starting to make good sense to protect the paint on the bike !
Hydration hose goes through the zipper of Rockbros. Not the most elegant solution, but the rainproofing still works because of the zipper covers. 4:48
Thanks for this. I may get some of the Rockbros stuff.
Thank you. I've been trying to get into bike packing so this video was very useful for me.
Thanks for taking the time to make it
He just uploaded my wishlist 😂
same!
To be fair, most companies "steal" or use ideas of other companies all the time. Look how many copywright lawsuits there are. It's an entire industry.
Nice review! I've been curious about these brands on Amazon. So glad you covered this topic.
Zip pocket on top is perhaps for a spot tracker ?
Very honest. Loved your video.
What bike are you riding in this video? Nice production. Thanks

@@ridesofjapan Excellent. Impressive build.
topeak make really good bags for the price. my topeak bags has equal quality to my apidura ones for roughly half the price. alpkit are ok and used to be a good option imo but i dont think i would bother with how much they charge nowadays...
I love the video post! I’m wondering if you have found or if someone else would recommend a different budget HANDLEBAR bag that would be a better option than the one in the video
That is one massive crank for Touring. One could cry climbing.
Great! We hope see more ROCK BROS products!
You could add water proof bags to go inside each bag which I do even if the bag claims it’s water proof, and you can spray water proof on each bag.
Water proof bag - wal mart price varies with size but I got a med one for 5-10
Can of water proof spray 7$ish
Once can should do all of those bags
the easiest way is to just put stuff in plastic bags before loading into frame bags. Spray coatings usually do not work well to keep water out after they get dirt on them, or a little wear. Plus seams are hard to seal.
Mark Connelly
Honestly I never had any issue with using water proof spray on my gear. I have dont this for years with my military gear that’s been used in combat and training / working in every environment imaginable around the world
@@reynaldorivera7641 what brand do you use? all the ones I used don't bead water when dirty or scuffed off.
Could maybe add in a velcro strap to lengthen the headtube strap. Pokers to ( bush to pokers ) to bush.
Yes very interesting on his choices
Definitely saved quite a bit of money and very similar to my setup. Please tell me what you think
ruclips.net/video/JsUTt4meZPk/видео.html
Great content as always. What do you do to protect your frame from bags rubbing?
Cheers!
Clear frame tape / helicopter tape.
Great information as always, yeah, here in the outskirts of Madrid those damn noisy bugs are a pain too, I mean seriously some times it gets over bearing!
The heat here, well we hit up to 41°!!!
Now it's 36-38° still very hot for me at least. Your bike, and gear setup, very nice in deed all so clean :-)
Love your videos!!!
Silicon boot / tent spray will waterproof all those bags quite well and inexpensively. The lowest cost solution that weights zero gr.
Great video! I'm liking your content more and more every time. It would be great to have a follow up on this bags, to see how they age, how durable they are
Keep the good work, cheers
Cheers mate!
Will sell these bags most likely, while nice (3 of them) like I said in the video, neither will replace my “expensive” bags, so a long term follow up will be hard to do.
Think rain when buying bikepacking bags. What country gets a lot of rain? Scotland. There is a company called LOMO watersports that makes excellent cheap BP bags.
Looked at Lomo bags, but frame bag out of stock. Are they any good?
Great! Thanks for the info and time spent. Topeak makes a great 'affordable' handlebar bag too that I really like, but I'd be hard pressed to pass up my Revalate Designs seat pack for anything else.
Yeah, definitely no reason for that!
I used a ROCKBROS top tube bag last year just like the one from your clip and it didnt work for me, it is just a cheap option but not weather resistance at all.
Nice. Just sold me on that frame bag.
Cycling in Japan selling this kit on TCC in a bit
@@ridesofjapan Video was too convincing and I already bought one. TCC getting lively recently though so don't think you'll have to wait long.
they seem pretty good!
you have to shop around to make sure you are getting all the features, there are definitely crappy bags in this price range
I would totally relocate the velcro straps on the handlebar bag, order some straps on amazon
I don't tour with frame bags or saddle bags, cuz I hate anything brushing against my legs or thighs, even though they're more aero : )
I’ve seen the Rockbros a few times on Amazon!
Roswhell has also an option with rubber bands, but it's more expensive a little bit.
Nice! Can you tell what is the bike in the video? thanks
Aurélien Jagot Open UP ruclips.net/video/6Vv5TXBziHs/видео.html
I got my four Ortlieb panniers used on Ebay. No, it wasn't $100, but they are amazing.
I'm sure you can easily find a double-sided velcro strap, cut it to the length you need and use that to extend the short strap from the handlebar bag. Loose bag problem solved.
i use Vaseline on my rockbros bag. Kinda worried that the Zips will give way. Lolz. Lub is the Key
Man I really enjoy your videos. You crack me up! Please keep them coming!
Great video, You have a new follower...wondering what kind a bike are You using there (I see it’s a gravel) planning on getting a Gravel Bike next year. Bike packing is definitely a topic. Thanks for a great breakdown. Yes the Handlebar hanging thing isn’t so great😀
Cheers mate!
You can check out my bike inside and out in this build video ruclips.net/video/6Vv5TXBziHs/видео.html
Excellent! I was looking for some cheap bike packing bags as I don’t do it often enough to justify buying premium ones and these look to fit the bill except for the front load bag.
Though if I may ask, will the straps scruff my bike frame? As I would hate to see scruff marks cause of the Velcro straps.
Thanks!
Always put some protective tape on the areas were the bag attaches to.
Rides of Japan from my understanding, bike tapes adhesive is quite strong, how would one remove after the trip? Is hot air blower fine for carbon bikes?
Omar Tan clear protective film/tape can usually be pealed off by hand, if there’s any adhesive left a bit of chain cleaner usually clears it.
Rides of Japan thanks!
use silicone tape and wrap around frame. It is self adhesive to itself without any glue and also adds a little rubbery padding.
you found such good options! ty!
I show it here: ruclips.net/video/3ZdbyDo3n9g/видео.html
Usually when I go packed I raise the stem a spacer or so just to get some more clearance.. the Open is pretty low for gravel bike though... Are you on a medium?
@@ridesofjapan Cheers thanks. Yeah on a medium and running no steerer spacers. Im searching around for the perfect sized bag. they're all either too big or too small. I think about 3 to 5 L would be perfect. Ill keep looking! Cheers.
