Great video. I think that ethically these lab grown are the only way to go forwards. The earthgrown are expensive due to cartels, and suspect supply chains. Lab grown would appear to be a more ethical choice - particularly if it’s marking an important event ❤
It never disappointed me to watch your videos. I do really love how friendly you're and the vast knowledge of the items you showed us. Thank you very much Michael.
not an investment in the long run, you cant cherish an artificial lab grown thing and would think it twice before passing it down to your children as inheritance, children might feel cheated.
I get that lab diamonds are exactly the same and way cheaper but there will always be something more special about an "earth diamond"... Bit like a factory original car vs a restored one, identical and nobody would tell the difference but the originality makes it that tiny bit more special.
That's true so long as the cartel can keep the supply of natural diamonds limited. If that ever breaks the price will drop and you may very well have natural diamonds selling for less than the lab grown diamonds.
Its the exact same material. Same structure, same elastic modulus, same conductivity, same lattice array, same refractive index, same dispersion, same hardness and same toughness.

Honest question. Since lab grown vs earth grown diamonds are indistinguishable. What does that do to the resale value of diamonds in general? Not that you buy diamonds to resell but If you could buy a lab grown, and then try to resell it as an Earth grown and 10x your money then it seems like a lot of people would try doing this.
There would be an issue of certifications. But again if I have a natural diamond with certificate and identical lab grown diamond... I can sell lab grown one as the natural one and have natural one for 1/10th the price.
@@mrnobody6118 I suspect that there are still impurities that would show up in the natural diamond that won't in the lab grown. Not that anyone would test for that with the cheaper diamonds but when talking about $500k or more it is probably a good idea to do all you can to verify you are getting what you are paying for.
@@mrnobody6118 Exactly my point. Buy 1 earth grown diamond and get it certified. Then buy as many lab grown diamonds of equal size, clarity, and cut, and you could make a fortune selling as many as you want as earth grown diamonds with a certificate.
@@Mott2 it is not 100% indistinguishable, check out traxnyc videos to see the differences and how to test for it. In general ur idea does happen in reallife tho

My wedding set is earth-grown diamonds. I also now own a lab-grown 2.25 ring, center stone 1.25 ctw. It is absolutely gorgeous. This is the way of the future baby!!!!
My only problem with lab grown is that they can always produce more and devalue them even further, which they will, and also they aren’t exactly the same composition as a natural diamond which is how they can tell them apart. Most jewelers love to sell them but try to resell them and you’ll get next to nothing.
yes and I imagine like all technologies, they get cheaper to make over time in addition to just quantity on the market, devaluing them further. I think they are probably bad investments but fine if you want to give as a gift to someone who will not try to resell them
Yes, you write correctly. Even natural diamonds fall in price after purchase, prices are artificially supported by major players. Colored stones, rare in our time, such as emeralds, sapphires, rubies, are considered invistive. And what is shown in the video is just glass produced on an industrial scale, I do not understand how they are sold at such prices.
I honestly think prices of lab grown diamonds will be going up as people get warmed up to the idea of getting the same thing for less. Especially because of the environmental impact of earth grown diamonds. Good marketing will definitely make them increase value pretty fast 😄
Nope, opposite, the tech has gotten better and market is filling out with more growers, price will keep coming down until it hits a bare minimum and should stay that way
There is an over saturation of lab grown diamonds it’ gone down by almost 95% (if I’m not mistaken) just in the last 2-3 years. And will only continue to decline the more labs that are build producing Lab diamonds. The prediction is that they will be just as cheap as CZ in the very near future. Natural diamonds has scarcity because they are so rare which is why the price reflects it and will continue to build value over time
@Shanny Moore earth mined diamonds aren't rare, they're just hard to mine, that's the only thing driving the price. Labs are far from oversaturating the market, they've come down about 1/3rd in wholesale cost as the tech has gotten more efficient, but they'll never be "cheaper than czs" because they still take 6-12 weeks to grow, which costs money, and is far more expensive than the process to grow czs using liquids. Labs grabbing a large chunk of the market has also driven down the price of earth mined stones by a large chunk as well, also about 1/3rd wholesale.
My friend who is a Jeweler refuses to sell the lab grown stuff to people, it has changed his whole business. Not for the rich people like Michael but for those whom a diamond really means something like for a wedding ring, it is not as special.
I often wonder when you see people with huge diamonds on their hands, honestly I believe most of them are lab grown I find it very hard to believe that the average person walking the streets can afford $500,000 for a diamond, but $50,000 in comparison is a huge difference, and just because it’s for a marriage I would be happy to wear one of these. Mine was made many years ago and my two main diamonds are 1.5 each plus smaller around it, yes they are great quality but to buy now would be a crazy price to what hubby paid from the jeweller I knew. Price wise I would rather have a bigger diamond fantastic clarity and bling for so much less cost with lab grown, it doesn’t take away the meaning at all….that’s just crazy, IMO.
Its the exact same material. Same structure, same elastic modulus, same conductivity, same lattice array, same refractive index, same dispersion, same hardness and same toughness.
I appreciate this deep dive into lab-grown diamonds! It's fantastic to see more people recognizing their value. At Solitario Diamond, we offer a wide range of beautiful lab-grown diamond pieces for everyone! 💎✨
folks please don't waste your hard earned dollars on these lab diamonds. as a liquid asset a lab grown diamond will be essentially worthless after you buy it in the case that you wanted/needed to sell. whereas a natural diamond will maintain it's value in the short term and only go up over time. be smart people, i know it's hard.
Not exactly. Natural diamond loses 50-60% of its value upon purchase given it is one of the most common gemstones in the world, 2.2 billion carats is the current stock and 120 million carats are mined each year. You end up losing more for natural. Gems are NOT investments.
@@theonepercent8263 i mean you can buy a 2.0 carat E VVS1 and try to sell it. See how much you get. Unless you are a jeweler who buys gems at 50x their prices then yeah perhaps.

The conditions working in
the diamond factories aren't
very good - Polluted air.
There are two kinds of
man-made diamonds
Vapor Drop and Heat/
Temperature pressure
(the more durable option)
These can be certified
too.
Not really. Zircon is actually the oldest gem and formed as soon as the earth was created (first gem in the world). So your blood diamonds aren’t exactly impressive on that either.
@@here_we_go_again2571your comment is nonsense. First off its chemical vapor deposition (CVD) not “vapor drop” or whatever, the other is high pressure high temperature (HPHT). Both create diamond although CVD is type IIa (100% chemically pure diamonds).

Thank you.
Which one is more durable?

Lab grown!!! Love them
Earth Grown ~ Michael
Lab Grown ~ Adam the Camera guy
~ I say natural grown , i like Michael's philosophy expressing that its symbolized the truth and honesty ... just take it !
You’re not a smart one are you?
I like how natural diamond sounds better
*The cut, clarity and the color is amazing, it's water, big drip!*
I am blown away by these thank you Michael and Adam for another great video keep them comming
HEY PM ...I've got a three ct lab grown diamond & people can be snobbish saying it ain't real so I tell them (& all the disbelievers) the ice in the freezer is man made but it is STILL ICE
Such a good alternative
Its the exact same material. Same structure, same elastic modulus, same conductivity, same lattice array, same refractive index, same dispersion, same hardness and same toughness.
Great video. I think that ethically these lab grown are the only way to go forwards. The earthgrown are expensive due to cartels, and suspect supply chains. Lab grown would appear to be a more ethical choice - particularly if it’s marking an important event ❤
i’m my opinion there is nothing like natural Diamonds something made by nature it always be the best
Someone who makes Michael look boring I would never expect to see it 😂 I need some lab grown diamonds after this
It never disappointed me to watch your videos. I do really love how friendly you're and the vast knowledge of the items you showed us. Thank you very much Michael.
Adam's hands look beautiful today. Nice to see he takes such good care of his nails 💅😂
You beat me too it great piss take 😂😂😂
@@bigupthebeast piss take? Moi 🤣🤣
That gigantic link cuban chain, Patrick!! Bravo, my friend 👏
The chemistry between Adam and Michael is so unique that they could do a show watching paint dry. And Adams editing of th videos is truly unique.
How did this guy out Micheal, Michael?
Loved this guy in the original video. Glad he’s back.
Maybe next time can you feature his Siberian Tiger?
not an investment in the long run, you cant cherish an artificial lab grown thing and would think it twice before passing it down to your children as inheritance, children might feel cheated.
PM you send my eyes rolling with the manner you have mastered the classification of stones away from the music experience that I know yeah
Granpas gone wild
I appreciate the video production where the gem is shown on a softer hand model
I get that lab diamonds are exactly the same and way cheaper but there will always be something more special about an "earth diamond"... Bit like a factory original car vs a restored one, identical and nobody would tell the difference but the originality makes it that tiny bit more special.
That's true so long as the cartel can keep the supply of natural diamonds limited. If that ever breaks the price will drop and you may very well have natural diamonds selling for less than the lab grown diamonds.
diamond is diamond there is nothing special
Its the exact same material. Same structure, same elastic modulus, same conductivity, same lattice array, same refractive index, same dispersion, same hardness and same toughness.
6:18 Michael had me in tears joking about the woke mind virus mob coming after him for misidentifying the diamond. 😂😂
💀 😂
Same, I got a good chuckle out of that. Can't be too careful these days, you don't know what someone will identify as hour to hour anymore. 🤣😂🤣

This bloke is so loaded up with money he dosnt know what to look at
Thank u for this amazing lab grown tour & information on the cost of lab vs earth grown diamonds 💎 & all the large & humongous rocks & kudos to u for being 99% correct in all your evaluations on the 4Cs 😄👍🏻
I suspect people are already doing this. Look how many fake watches are passed as real and they are a much easier tell than these diamonds........ for now anyway!!
absolutely beautiful. If i could sell and be around diamonds and be okay. I would in a heart beat. Such precious stones.
The fact that an earth grown diamond has taken millions of years to become an engagement ring is amazing
That's the romance, millions of years to grow in the earth until it's yours
My wedding set is earth-grown diamonds. I also now own a lab-grown 2.25 ring, center stone 1.25 ctw. It is absolutely gorgeous. This is the way of the future baby!!!!
DeBeers is sad now.
Who do you think invested in the technology?
Absolutely loved this. Michael and Patrick you two guys look great. Let's have more of this please.
And what is shown in the video is just glass produced on an industrial scale, I do not understand how they are sold at such prices.
i think its great they are breaking the diamond cartels
WOW! This is amazing 😍💯‼️
I'm really impressed how cheap they are. 98 thousand for a stone, wow.
The only people opposed to lab grown are the same people already deeply invested in earth grown, can't blame them for clinging.
@@Mike.The.Jeweler Where are you getting your information? Genuinely curious
they will not
Patrick, i hope i have a great mop of hair like yours when i get older. pray for me everyone.
What absolute rubbish.
i like the diamond cartel is being broken up
Its the exact same material.
