Who is the man that would not weep, if he should see the Mother of Christ in such great torment?"
In these hauntingly beautiful lines, the profound sorrow of the Virgin Mary is brought to life through the voice of Andreas Scholl. The lyrics invite us into a space of deep spiritual reflection, where the pain of a mother witnessing the suffering of her divine Son becomes a symbol of ultimate love and sacrifice. The countertenor's ethereal voice, hovering between heaven and earth, amplifies the sacredness of this lament. It is a reminder of the boundless compassion that flows from Mary's heart, a love so pure and intense that it transcends the agony of loss. Through this hymn, we are called to a deeper empathy, not just for the sorrows of the Mother, but for all who suffer, as her tears mirror the world's collective pain.

Maestro Rosano, How this wonderful melody came to you? Is it just the result of hard work?, Is it a moment of divine inspiration? Could you describe that process?, please.
Hi there! Thank you for your comment! I guess it's a combination of both and a lot of time. After the first inspiration moment I let the melody rest for some weeks and then I listened with a fresh ear and change/delete some notes, again and again, until I was sure that every note was "right", every note was following the emotional path.Take care!
