i have been flying heli's for some time and i am always asked by people how to set their heli up or how to adjust setting etc.... and now i can just give them the link to this video... this is the best 450 heli setup video i have seen in a while... Great Job mate.
Hello there ,i am using this video to set up an Align Trex 450 ,on an orange dx6i clone .The information is still " golden" ,after all these years june 2022 ,thank you sir
After doing the set up this heli flies a lot better and I also got confidence to fly it higher then a 2story house, I did my 1st 3d stunt just this past weekend and boy did I have butterflies after doing that, I had to land it and calm down.
HELLO WHAT A GREAT VIDEO FOR THE BEGINNER..I HAVE THE SAME TRANSMITTER WITH A 400 BLADE..I WAS NOT VERY GOOD AT READING MANUEL THEN TRYING OUT WHAT I HAD READ,,,THIS VIDEO IS GREAT AFTER WATCHING THIS AND BY THE WAY..THE MAN INSTRUCTING YOU IS GREAT..HE CLEARLY EXPLAINS EVERYTHING...YES AFTER WATCHING THIS ABOUT 3 TIMES .I NOW CAN ADJUST MY SETTINGS KNOWING WHAT THEY ARE DOING...AND HOW TO PUT THINGS RIGHT...THANKS FOR MAKING THIS...IT IS A GREAT HELP TO ME....JEFF
The three stooges must have voted thumbs down thinking it meant to like it. This video was amazing. I adding it to my favorites twice. This was the best informational video on setting up a helicopter correctly . It helped me clear up some rc terms and taught me much more than anything else. It also didn't bore me as your narration is perfect and your angles were great so I could see what to do. Know I can setup up my 450 heli confidently and make sire I get it right.
Brilliant all I needed to know but that the shops were slow to understand and explain. I can now go ahead with cofidence fitting my AR 6210 to my razor 400 (no rx fitted) and fly with my Dx6i. GJ.
Im barly learning all this. Didnt realize how much actually goes behind flying. a pittch helicopter. Mine is a 600 class with a 5000mah battery 6s. Im using the orange T Six with the new Ar620 reciver. So far so good havent actually Got it up yet still taking it slow. Thank you for the vídeo content you put out there. Much help.
Hi Watched this video over and over to setup my heli. you never mentioned that the servo centering should have been done at mid stick. Have to start all over again but, outside of that, great videos you made.
An excellent concise and well presented video. Just what a newbie needs to find his way through a maze of baffling terms and permutations. Thank you Tony.
Tony just one question. I have a Walkera V450D03. Having followed your advice that you set the main blade pitch by moving the levelled swash plate up or down by lengthening or shortening the three linkages, how do you set up the length of the linkages that go directly from the swash to the main blades themselves? I have messed with these and need to reset them. Zero pitch with 50% throttle and the swash half way up its vertical travel perhaps? Cheers. Ian
fabulous video sir. Just upgraded from a blade SR to a 450x and all of the TX setup was totally new to me and quite confusing. Even though i am using the dx8 i was able to translate all of this video to my TX and setup my heli accordingly. Did some hovering in the garage and had some similar tail issues that would have taken me forever to troubleshoot without this. Love your settings and love this video. Thanks a ton! gonna make a video soon of your settings on my 450 all credits will go to you!
I want to thank you for doing your videos, they are very helpful. I have a 450 as well and been having trouble with the servos and thanks to you I got them straightened out. Now only if I can get it lift I will be very happy. However I did find one of the connecting rods was shorter than the other which didn't give me the proper pitch when throttling up so we will see if that was the problem. Again great job on the videos.
Looks like the sr the tail wagging heli your setup is good for beginners people who dont want extreme throttle and to use the maxium power other then that for us out there who fly hardcore were gonna have to figure out our own curves amd set ups but good video to understand the process and get us situated
great info, best I have found. I'm new to it all Xmas 2012 was first ever with a heli. I'm flying the blade Huey. Was a big jump from co- axial but I'm doing pretty good. Just bought the dx6i and flew for the first time tonight with it. Went well, did my first ever low level figure eight. Was not pretty but I got it. I learned a great deal from your video, thank you very much the info it is awesome. Video is clear and everything was easy to understand. Thanks again Brian Chappell
I am really satisfied with your video because I bought an used Dynam E razor without a transmitter and I got a Spektrum Dx6i and an orange dsm2 receiver and your video. Thank you very much. If you can you could make another video explaining the configuration of this transmitter on Phoenix 4 simulator.
Excellent video, set up my Align T-rex 450 with orange Spektrum receiver, similar settings but tutorial is spot on, thank you so much for a fantastic video, my heli flew/hovered spot on with slight trimming, GOOD WORK!!!!
I had no idea Dynam produced a Helicopter. Wow! Most guys swore by the DX6i as a helicopter transmitter. I have a nitro heli from Kyosho but It came with a Futaba radio and receiver stock from the factory. I may switch out the receiver. The DX6i is more than adequate to fly up to 4 miles. at least thats what I was told.
Yea, they made a helicopter, but it was not a good helicopter lol. I quickly moved onto other brands shortly after this video which is quite old now. As for the DX6i, I would not trust that Tx for anything more than 1/4 mile, especially if it is the old DSM2. DSMX, maybe 1/2 mile. But without diversity, it just gets sketchy from there. www.Rc-Help.com
@@RcHelpDotCom I quit using my DX6i after it nose dived two of my planes. I found it only works best on UMX planes and no programming. As soon as I add in Rates and Expos, the thing cannot handle it. I have flown my Apprentice on it but even then , the DX 5e that came with it is 100% better. I went to Tactic and have been happy with that. I also have the 3rd gen DX6. That seems to be fine.
Nice job. Quite helpful. If you would have put this video up one year earlier, I think I might have saved quite a lot of money (fewer crashes). First Heli was a Dynam 450 E-Razor. First flight was about 15 seconds long before I put it in the dirt.
MEGA, MEGA, MEGA,MEGA. Thanks so, so, so much RcHelpDotCom, Ive been trying this hobby now for over a yr, couldnt do it myself so got KDS, which took me 3-4weeks to sort out, but your vid just finished everything off, and everything is the same as yours, so im hoping when it comes to moz, i will beable to hoover, anything but crashing will do me, and if not, it can go in the f##king bin. thanks again.Matt
Tony , thank you very much for your videos. I find them very thorough and explained very well. As I am a newbee at this.I am building my first kit ever EXI 450. your video has helped me. thanks again keep up the good work
Great informative clip. I will be referring to it againI'm sure. I have kds and TITAN TRex clone. Crashed both and now learning how to set them up.. Thanks.
Great info Belding an Air Wolf 450 scale chopper just bought a DX6I I'm still pretty green but this should help a lot like I said Great Info Thank You Vey Much.
On the pitch curve settings you mention to have it linear from 0 to 100, correct! when you say low point is at full negative pitch do you mean set it at -100% or at 0%
I will pop over, but your answer made it all possible. I now know what a non SSPM machine is, it has a seperate collective like a full scale chopper. (well not quite the same but the same principle). Well got the tail servo working some how lol. I got Tower Pro 9g servos on it now (Detrum GY48V and EXI metal gear servo on the way). Got everything adjusted so far with my DX6i and the Orange Rx but when I go to take off and the helicopter just spins rapidly, usually counter-clockwise and I can not control it. I think the GY192 gyro is messed up from a small crash but it lights up blue and initializes. I don't know what to do.
Great radio and I've got many of them buying used helicopters and airplanes over the years but always end up selling them off due to the fact there is no 3 position switch. I wish spektrum would of added one.
Thank You so much! really helped me out, just so that i know im doing it well i set up my dx8 with blade sr and centred all 3 servo's plus sub trim and they all are exact centre :) hope im on the right track.
I enjoyed this video, very helpful and well made, thankyou. I am a complete beginner and just researching. On RC Helis, how does the collective work? I can obviously see how the cyclic works (but why there are three pitch links not two is beyond me) but the collective is a mystery. Do they elevate the platform the cyclic servo motors sit on? Do they just do some computations and move the cyclic pitch links proportinately in some way?

Great instructional videos.I fly nitro but i've put my toe into the cold waters of electric helis.I've noticed that when my swashplate goes up, the pitch servo is a tad faster than the other two servos. How do I slow that puppy down?
Any after a crash repair, replacement parts and tips? And when it's just cheaper to buy a new heli rather than just buy more parts? For me, I have an overly discharged battery (replacement cost $28 plus S/H), might need a new ESC and Motor ($33 plus S/H) That sums up to about a 3rd of the total cost of the RTF 450 E-razor.
Don’t set EPA on rudder channel to try and prevent binding. You MUST set that on your gyro pot, or in the gyro programming. EPA on rudder channel controls how fast the Heli spins in one direction or the other.
On a flybarless gyro, or modern MEMS gyros, you would be exactly right. But on this old GY192 piezoelectric gyro, that pot is for the tail gain, not travel. You have to use the transmitter to adjust the travel with this gyro. Again, very old gyro, but it is still for sale for $5.00 online lol. Not sure why anyone would want this gyro, it's not that great. Thanks for the comment.
Very good video, I bought a DX6i TX and I would like to know if it is possible to control a retractable landing gear of an Augusta-109 fuselage of my 450 heli.
Hi Tony, Thanks another excellent video from you. I have a question. I note that in the video your swash plate on the E-Razor moves up when you throttle up. I am trying to setup my Blade 400 flybar heli using a Spektrum DX6i and Spektrum rx, but my swash plate moves 'down' when I throttle up. The blade angle increases giving lift when I do so. So the question is, why does your swash move down when you increase power?
I am so sorry Tony for calling Jim. Thanks a bunch for the reply. How do I reverse my gyro? I will come join your forum tonight. Any suggestion on what time frame is good to join in? I'm in South Jersey close to Philadelphia. Thanks again Tony.
Hi!First af all thank you for your help! I listen to your advise and took the GP790 and DS425 but it don't works after made the connections.I have dx6i Tx and orange Rx.The servo do a little noise and its very hot. Please HELP!!!
Hey brother awesome video! I'm just getting back into the hobby and found it very informative. Still have a QUESTION if anyone would help me out... First I'm converting a 72 mhz T-Rex 450, collective pitch with a flybar and i got Radiomaster tx16s... I'm looking to buy the OrangeRx R620X V3 6Ch 2.4Ghz receiver ... Will this receiver work for me? Just a little confused with flybar/less and the receivers and if it makes a difference which I buy? Thanks in advance!
As long as the receiver is made to work with the Tx, it should be fine. But not all Rx's will work with all Tx's. Such as Futaba will not work with Spektrum and so on. so as long as it's the same band, it should work fine. You can always come over to www.rc-help.com and post up your Tx and your Rx link you are looking at and we have a great group of people that can help out. Hope to see you there.
Question: I have a couple of 4 channel heli that I want to convert receiver to my new DX6i tx. The 4 channel heli have build in gyro on the pc board and the tail motor only has 2 wire leading from it how would I connect it to the orangerx or do I need to put a gyro on the 4 channel heil and same with the main motor only 2 wires on it. Can I connect a gyro to the tail motor with out a servo? Also have 6 channel honey bee king 3 that should not be a problem switching it over
It it nice that you put videos, at the speed you talk about flying a helo have you any videos about how to do everything with flying for someone that never has owned, flew, built a large helocopter?
Hello I want it to thank you for all your videos they really help me up to build my heli, but I have a question meaby you can help me up, I'm building a 450 fusuno airwolf fuselage and if you check youtube there is a guy who teach how to do build it, to operate the retracts you need to disconnect the single yellow wire for the gyro but when I do that my rudd don't work is that normal or what can I do to operate my heli promptly, I using a Spektrum Dx6i , help me up please, thank you.
Been trying to switch over to my DX6i with the Orange Rx and been going at it days and days to get it to work. Nothing but a pain in the neck! Tail servo is acting up and not working right after I tried connecting everything over to the DX6i and the Orange Rx. Any help here folks??? Thought this was just gonna be like a 5 minute switch over job, not take almost a freaking week! Bout to switch all back to stock RX and TX or slam it into the ground...very frustrated here! Please help!

Tony, There are several Blade Helis like that, both of mine, (300X and 500 3D) are like that. Think its due to the trailing edge design of the head.
Great help, thankyou very much! Regards John
