I love when a homeowner does a good job, nice work Mike. Your videos are a great resource.
Aww he thanks you!!!
My brother and I did my master after I watched tons of your's and Sals videos.
Went with the tile redi in 2020 way before I saw you do them.
The fact that you use them makes my decision feel even better.
Im a builder and have used your videos as a guide to build by own bathrooms. I like how you present your info and back it up with proof that it works. Ive seen your waterproofing vids, floating showers, etc. Gold information for who ever wants to learn. Thank you. ❤
Hi I watch your videos all the time love them I live in Sacramento too and I'm working at Folsom right now too great videos you have love it good job on your tile jobs I do tile for 17 years
Right on man. See you around.
Great tip TC. Here in Atlanta, bathrooms don't have windows and if they do, you cant open them. So one time I thought to use a 16'' turbo fan with 20' long flex hose and extract dust outside via closest window. To protect everything in that path and seal with plastic to create negative pressure all the way to that "closest" window, it would take almost a day so I did not do it. Instead I made cube filter (four filters + fan) with similar but stronger fan and left it inside the bathroom while demoing. They call it Corsi-Rosenthal Box. You might want to check it out. YT got plenty about it. It did a good job, maybe even a great job in helping from spreading the dust throughout the home. GA ❤️ TC back!
Thats how I have my indoor spray room set up (I refinish/restore furniture).. 2 fans installed in the door (bringing filtered air in), and 2 fans at the window (pushing filtered air out) 😊
Ba careful if you are using a flammable paint. Most normal fan motors create sparks that can ignite the fumes. You would need a special fan designed for this situation.
What a great way to vent the dust out. I'm getting ready to demo my kitchen and dining area. Going to do this for sure!
Greenboard 🚫, no waterproofing, mastic used, no failure, lasted 30 years...hmmmmm, go figure 👌🏼
😂 it works until it doesn't. On day or twenty years.
I know hey? I did many many retrofit Reno's on senior housing bathrooms and that maybe 4 out of the approximately 100 I did had damage and it was due to the plumbing fixtures not sealed or bad grab bar install. That said it was seniors using the suite bathrooms. Not a family of five or six.
Most popular method in my city is not using the shower, no leaks and everything sucks except my wife in the house
So no one wants to answer the question of why we need to pay thousands more to fix a problem that doesn't exist. I've answered it previously. Expert level marketing by schluter
Tub surrounds are pretty forgiving as most of the water damage is at the very bottom. The tub absorbs most of the water. You wouldn’t want to use green board in a walk-in shower unless you applied 2 coats of waterproofing and prayed your plumbing behind the wall will never leak because the back of the green board would get damaged. Green board with your redgard should work just fine though. No need to buy expensive crap from Wedi and schluter.
You are like scientists 👨🔬 when you demo bathrooms examining all the little pieces of materials, that’s funny 😄
The bug youre talking about is likely a spring cricket. Im a plumber and see them all the time, hanging around bathtubs, shower stalls and kitchen sinks. They like wet areas
Thats a good and cheap air filtration system.Always remember goggles Mr.Isaac believe me.
Great video! Not sure what came after the first 30 seconds, but great video!
7:33 A tip for DIY or Pros (and might know this, it’s just suggestion for ppl to help Trades out is all), if take cardboard the will cover entire window and trace and cut-out just area where fan exhausts, can tape around cardboard w/ 4 pieces creating a super fast way to vent dust outside w/o worrying to block holes around fan/window or in this case it can help, protect other side of window etc…..
Only downside is block off 100% light from other side, but everyone has own way but I find just cutting cardboard for entire are is fast and anyone can do, which if have a new guy/gal starting or helping its very uncomplicated 😉
Ok, great job Isaac and team, take care and be safe; as always love the work you guys do, how treat everyone and your work speaks for itself, it’s awesome even at 1/8” 👍🏻😊
So glad you turned me on to the Reditile pans, I'll never use another product.
Just to let you know if you didn’t already if you buy a two year warranty with your harbor freight tool and then write the date you purchased it you can take it back for a new one and then with the new tool you traded in buy a new two year warranty you can repeat and never pay but for the warranty. I did it on all harbor freight tools that are alittle expensive and that’s the only one I have to buy trade it in every two years
Make sense with the fans though. Props brother!!!
Came up with that twenty years ago. From a guy who's ground thousands of square feet of concrete with Hiltis best vacs. Wouldn't use it for a big job but great for small DIY. CFM is what counts.
coming from a guy that crushes 200 lb a year, cfm is all u need to worry about. absolutely.
Poor man’s purifier! Good stuff!😊
The K5 is awesome to see
I cut osb with a fan into window hole😊,like the filter idea
I saw your comment you left that wanna-be home inspector, who just bashes everyone and acts like he knows everything. When in reality he probably cant even change a light bulb. It was just great seeing another actual tradesman showing that douche the disrespect he deserves.
Fan for life, lol
Or, idk you could do your job correctly
@@Will_Russell that has nothing to do with my point.
But yes, people should do things the right way, but when they don't, I'm not going to berate them or talk down to them as if I'm superior to them
Bro that shower is nice
Mike did a great job. I forgot to get more closeup video. But he did really good.
Great idea. Thank you Isaac
As a kitchen/bath contractor for decades, my guess through just rescuing diy//homeowners doing bath/shower on their own just leak and fail within 3 to 5 years just because of improper use or high expectations of products or even tools like notched trowels.
Plumbing drains improperly or spending big $ on fixtures without knowledge of
proper installation are doomed to leak, create mold, and lead to being rescued by Tile Coach pros guys in every region.
i'm doing my bathroom now and have a filter cube on the floor. the bottom is 20x20 cardboard , the 4 sides are each a 20x20x1 merv 13 filter, and the top is open. i lay that same lasko box fan on top blowing upwards. this setup moves way more air than a single filter. when it fills up with dust i vacuum the filter pleats
Great idea!
You can buy the most expensive water proofing, or the cheapest it all depends on the skill level of the installer . And if hes using proper installation methods per product .
Think after 30 yrs with no waterproofing... Held up ok actually. Of course mold is not good but it was a trooper! Couldn't just push in with hand. So we need to install the feet on the fan??😅
Nice tip
they sell box fans with a slot for those filters. Also, if youre venting out to a window whats the point of putting on a filter? You should only use a filter if you can't vent outdoors.
Maybe he doesn’t want to blow dust all over whatever is outside the window.
He said it’s to catch the dust from blowing on the neighbors property
I've heard of contractors in California getting fined for throwing lots of silica dust in the air. Maybe it's to avoid that?
Guess u can't fart in California without being fined
@@apex007 yeah stupid idiots trying to prevent silicosis amirite?

As we both know, there are two types of wall mastic . The yellow mastic from the early 70s and type 1 organic adhesive. Here is your chance for some great content on RUclips. Build a box out of sheet rock and tape the joints and coat the inside of the box with type 1 organic adhesive and add water to see what happens!
Here is a thought as well . Is roll on water proofing made up like type 1 organic adhesive and will mold grow on it?
I agree with you on the mold issues and that organic adhesive allowing the mold to grow. When this system is used in a wet area it is hardtop keep the grout from molding up because the mold is behind the tile in the adhesive!
If you ever need a date check on a house build look at the bottom of the toilet lid, bottom of the sink , or even the bottom of the tub!
Safety squints. Wore mine today cutting rebar.
That’s smart
Its disposable and its reusable 🤷❤.
A lot of guys are wearing ear/eye protection and respirators for tile demo… breaking up tile is loud!
Seems a bit counter intuitive. If you set the fan up in the window, what’s the need for a filter? Does it really matter to blow the dust outside? It would make more sense if the fan was recirculating the filtered air in the room cleaning your breathing air instead of blowing the clean air out the window…just a thought.
Basically, just like growing weed...create negative air pressure and scrub the air. SO if u do tile and grow you can just snag your scrubber if there is no window, beat the sht outta the room with no dust and take that puppy back home just in time before lights turn on to keep scrubbing the air, baby 😉
What is that thing in the shower above the towel holder??
most areas its called a d!ldo rack.
One time I broke a tile on my house and had no thinset left, so I set it with grout and is still there years after🤣
the reverse antrotaliothropic method is popular around here.. set tile with grout, and thinset the joints in. all day brother.
Isaac wear your PPE!!! :P
Yo bro hit me up I'm starting my channel based out of San Diego and setting tile for a long time and following you for a minute too trying to get you that doing videos and generating business down here took a lot big sacrifice to start my business get license and everything I have my c-54 I have my be general as well here in California looking for customers that want a quality service in a job that's going to last I work on them one by one any information or tips from you would be greatly appreciated for one tile guy to another also if there's any work out there let me know I'm down to travel
Xmas tree is up in the middle of the summer?!
Nice catch! It’s more than a Christmas tree. My teenage nephew loves countries and flags. We made him a flag tree. He died this year so we have refused to take it down. It’s always there in his memory. At least for nkw. 💙
why filter air going outside 🤔
That filter is not needed at all. All it does is reduce the effectiveness of the fan. The only reason why you would use a filter is if it was blowing back into a living area.
You cheap ass 😂 seriously, air scrubber on Amazon 400 bucks and save you more money than getting all those filters. I've had two of them for years now, and they are jammed up and I love them! And shout out to Isaac for all the hard and awesome work you do brother! Keep it going!
Safety squint!!!

25 years ago we would do all repairs wt grout alone.changing tiles.soap dishes etc. Grout was very different then. Today has Minimal adhesion. 🤷♂️
