The DBR1 of Le Mans 1959 is absolutely one of my favourite LM cars ever. Not only was successful, but damn, these lines accentuated by the semi-covered wheel arches, all painted in that beautiful kinda bluish racing green was a true dream. Not to mention the people that lead it to the success, with Carrol Shelby and John Wyer above them all.
Glad a passing mention was given to the DBR1-2. Although not particularly successful I still thinks it's among the most beautiful prototypes ever built especially in its Gulf colours.
3:48 The DBR1 had a special trans-axle gearbox, not the one from the DB3. This box was also fitted to some of the DP cars. It was troublesome. Basically any car fitted with it was guaranteed to fail - but they did eventually sort it out. Too late.
In the comments there is no mention of Roy Salvadori who drove the majority of the 1959 Le Mans win (14 hours) was always faster than Shelby and also competed in and won many races for Aston Martin during the period.

Aston Martin will always be my Favorite British Car Brand 🇬🇧❤
As driven by Terry Thomas in ‘School For Scoundrels’! (“Well of course I’d love to give you both a lift but I’ve only got a two-seater you see”)
Aston Martin won GTE in 2020 at LeMans as well not sure how that is not a success

Don't forget that Aston was early on building Lagondas with V-12 engines.
this are all legend cars.
Which would you like to see back on track again?

Thank you for this. I found myself wishing it longer...
No Aston Martin Zagato?? On looks alone, it should have been included.
The Aston group C cars are cool, but weren't winners. The one you really missed is RHAM1
Shelby drove a Aston Martin and won Le Mans.
Wait. The end you say Aston is not in GR racing anymore. That’s not true at all. They run in The IMSA series
Not as a factory team.
In the Endurance Championship (WEC) too, but not as Works or Factory Cars, I Think.
