As someone who played both parts of psychonauts, I felt a lot of their essence was lost in the 2nd game, even the supporting characters from the 1st game are more memorable than those from the 2nd, I don't know if they felt they couldn't use the same acid jokes in the second game for seeming "offensive" to some people
Im surprised you left out the line where the director goes "whelp, im gonna go kill myself." And they just gloss over it completely

The writing in Psychonauts was on another level. I would love to be able to write dialogue that equally sounds awesome, funny, serious and natural.
