I planned to run my whole house ACs off of my generator . I have a kick start in both and don’t have a soft start but my AC company said that, although not as good, a kick starter would still allow me to use the generator. However, I was concerned about any possible detrimental effects due to poor sine wave or temporary under voltages so I opted to cool a few rooms with window ACs. If I blow out a window AC it’s much less stress than damaging one or both of my 3 and 3 1/2 ton units . Also now that they’re installed the window ACs come in handy if/when my larger units go down for some reason. That being said it’s good to know from your experience that the generator can handle either. Thank you
The total harmonic distribution on 1150kw Westinghouse and up is less than 5% and is almost on par with an inverter generator. This will be one of the safest regular generators for your electronics.
One thing that may help with the heat is having the exhaust fan as far up as you can. A shed is a long term upgrade I plan on, so have been looking at others for ideas.
@@blupupher I am considering adding a second fan either at the top lid, like an attic fan or just another fan like I have right above the existing fan.
Hi, do you set the selector to Natural Gas when using Natural Gas? I have the Westinghouse WGEN11500Tfc generator and have the gauge to read my natural gas pressure. My meter has 2 psi and plumber installed a 1" tee off for my generator. I have an adjustable regulator right at the meter to reduce the 2 psi to 7-11 W.C. I have a 10ft long 3/4" ID hose connecting from the regulator to generator with 1" to 3/4" reducer at the regulator side and 3/4" to 1/2" reducer at the generator side. I also changed out the stock spark plug to NGK BP7ES and gapped it at 0.024". I tried many runs, setting mine from 7" W.C. up to 11" W.C. In all my runs, my generator ran rough using the Natural Gas Selector and ran smooth using the Propane Selector while using NG. I preferred not running NG using switch set to Propane if possible. But if that's what need to be then that will be it. If I take this route, did anyone get any adverse effect when running to or close to full load using NG with switch set to Propane. Please reply to let me know: it is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
The manual says to always use none resistor type spark plugs the link you have is a resistor type spark plug. I just purchased this same generator and plan to run it on natural gas. Just want to make sure I'm replacing the spark plug with the correct one. Thanks for the videos.

I looked at the prebuilt stuff but opted to build a 5hx6wx3d shed to hold the LP tanks, potentially 2 WGen11500TFC in the future. Can you elaborate a little on the insulation you added. Hi Calvin, I just got the same generator. I am preparing my installation, but I saw on the website of PNG technologies, a seller of various generator kits & accessories, that they recommend a 3/4" inch gas hose with quick-connects that are fully open (a straight pass-through connector with no obstructions of any kind). I noticed the Westinghouse gen has a 1/2" inlet at the regulator, comes with a 1/2" gas hose, and also comes with a quick-connect nipple that has an obstruction. Did you go with a three-quarter inch hose and replaced that nipple at the regulator for something that is fully open and couples to a 3/4" connector to the larger hose? Or are you running the 1/2" that is included with the gen, as well as the included coupling/connecting hardware? On a related question, other than PNG I am having a little trouble finding NG gas hoses and a 50A power cable that seem trustworthy. Do you have any suggestions (vendors), for gas hoses and power cables that you can recommend? Thanks in advance for any info.
@@CalvinGorriaranThanks, Calvin. I'll forego the 3/4" hose for now and go with the supplied hose and connectors (plus whatever else might be needed from the local h/w stores). If 1/2" works, great. I only have a ~25ft gas line run.
I have the same shed. What is the actual width outside tire to outside tire? The spec listing online vary from 26.1 wide to 29.6? ANd how is your THD less than 5%?
I have a question about the floating neutral generator. When the exhaust fan is running off the generator how is this fan grounded? Or, is the exhaust fan bonded because once the generator is plugged into the home's 50 amp inlet the entire system becomes bonded including the 15-20 amp connections so the exhaust fan become bonded as well. Also, any issues with the Carbon Monoxide sensor causing the generator to stall because of the tight enclosure? I know the exhaust is going outside the shed but unless you caulk or foam the exhaust could leak back in and shut off the generator. Did you tape over the CO sensor?
The fan is grounded and bonded through the main panel. The 50A plug is permanently connected to my panel. I have not had any issues with the sensor unless the fan not running. Which in that case, I am good with it shutting the generator down for heat safety.
@@CalvinGorriaran Can you do all the maintenance on your generator without removing it from the shed? Oil changes? Spark plug removal? Air Filter cleaning?

Hey there! This is the wire I used for the 50A hookup. Originally it was buried in the ground when the shed was on the other side of my home. It is now sitting inside a conduit from the shed to the side of my detached garage.
