I started thinking about the whole intercooler upgrade. Something that came to mind is the MAP sensor. The original intercooler is slightly smaller so it will have different pressure readings. How does the intercooler differ in pressure since it’s larger than the original? Do the map sensors need to be changed to adjust for the difference in pressure readings? Are there ECU changes that need to be made for programming to account for pressure changes and fuel economy changes to the vehicle because the increased size?
Should i buy and change out the piping? I got a big rouch air intake, 3"downpipe to turbo, and 3" from turbo out the back, MBRP exhaust system. Just wondering if changing out the piping is best or just use the factory piping?.
I have the performance package and Ford claims to have a bigger radiator does that come into factor when installing this cooler, will it still fit with out modifications?
Hassan Abulhassan it doesn’t unless you have increased your boost pressures, the stock one tends to over heat and become a bottle neck, so you replace it so you aren’t hurting hp
They're Niche Vicenzas. You can find them on our website here. www.cjponyparts.com/niche-vicenza-wheel-20-x10-matte-black-with-tinted-face-accents-set-of-four-2015-2017/p/W5666/
I love how everything just "pops right off" but when you're doing it yourself nothing ever works out the way it's supposed to
If I ever do this to a eco boost mustang, I’ll have one huge relief due to not having no mechanic experience
Great video! Got mine installed today. Cant wait to take it for a drive and then Stage 2 tune!
Hope you enjoy it!
Bill you make the most informative and engaging videos ever, thanks so much for all the knowledge and tips...
Great video , Bill explains and shows how to very well
is it recommended to get new piping or can you just stick with the factory piping?

No changes needed, the ecu only knows pressure, only change it would need is if it exceeds the map sensor limits in pressure.
Extremely detailed how-to. Very good job 👍👍👍
Thank you!
Do you recommend putting the active grill shutters back on after upgrading the intercooler? Or just leave it off for more air in?
CjPonyParts sucks at replying so we'll never know :/
Should i buy and change out the piping?

What did you end up doing
I have the performance package and Ford claims to have a bigger radiator does that come into factor when installing this cooler, will it still fit with out modifications?
No issues at all installing on the PP Ecoboost
Bill Tumas does the oem screws that attach the sensor will fit on the intercooler? Or the supplied screw is a must?
@@310bootang4 The OEM screw will not fit in the new intercooler, you will have to use the supplied screw it comes with.
And the difference between Cobb and mishimoto is?
Just got this & piping for my '20 Ranger
I’m thinking about buying this does it increase horsepower?
The 7mm bolt inside bumper...can get to it from under hood by inside fender....long ext..wobble...
How much do you charge to do the install
Sorry we do not offer installation.
Bill needs a clip removal tool. Much easier and wont bugger up the clip's pin head like a screwdriver !
Does the same concept work for a 2011-2014 models. I see no vids for them yet they sell mishimoto intercooler for them
No Ecoboost in those years bro
Will this work with a MRT turbo back exhaust?
What wheels are those? Looks great on that RR.
+Joshua McIntosh i think they are cdc outlaws, they look amazing
+Joshua McIntosh Niche Vicenza 20x10 all around
It looks easy to do, except I don't own a lift, it would be a pain to lay on the ground to put the bumper underbody cover on!
I did this using a jack and stands and it was a pain in the ass....took my time, but it took about 5 hours.
@@nickl8830 5 hours going slow, a real pain in the butt. But worth it 👍
Can i install this on the 2017 ecoboost mustang we have in Australia?
do you guys do installs for the the intercooler and the other products you sell? on customers cars?
+John Gerrity Sorry we do not do installations
how can i change the grill to my mustang 2015??
Can the grill shutters stay on with this intercooler or do they need to be removed?
Fraggle Rock they can stay on... I would recommend they stay on.
how much horsepower and torque does it increase ?
Hassan Abulhassan it doesn’t unless you have increased your boost pressures, the stock one tends to over heat and become a bottle neck, so you replace it so you aren’t hurting hp
if i have a stage one cobb tune am o going to have to get it dyno or does it reauire no tune
baddbradd89 im asking if i have an accesport am i going to have to get it dynoed with the inercooler or does the tunner have a tune for one already.
WHAT ABOUT THE SHUTTERS CJ?? WHAT ABOUT THE SHUTTERS CJ ??? Lol
Just like with computer radiators, thicker rads are only marginally beneficial and need higher sustained air velocity/flow to see any real difference.
It’s not a radiator it’s an intercooler, totally different concept
Air to air is a lot different then air to water
has the radiator fluid been drain before the install..
The radiator does not have to be drained.
You guys sell a tool to safely and easily remove the plastic clips. Surprised you didn’t use it. lol!
Kevin Quattro we added the tool after the video was shot.
Hp before and after
The inlet and outlet are plastic??? Nope not for me, I’ve got to replace that
Does this require a tune?
+Boostang No it does not
Roughly how long does this job take?
Should take no more than a couple hours.
Took me 5 hours with a jack n jack stands.
does this set up require a tune?
It does not your temps just stay within a couple degrees of ambient temp.
Hi.I am from Moscow I have avtomobil Mustang EcoBoost (2017 ,2.3)why is it necessary?thank you!!
Well after one or two pull with the factory intercooler your car is basically Heat soak so that helps prevent that
Personally I'll go with the levels intercooler as i think it will make more of a difference but that's just me
This stupid ass bolt behind the wheel well. Why. Just freaking why Ford. Something so simple giving me a head ache
I thought the EcoBoost Mustang has active shutters in front of the intercooler. Did those come off with the bumper cover?
I think the customer "deleted" the active shutters.
The 50th anniversary appearance package does not have the active shutters.
Can this be installed on my 2019? Ecoboost
I just installed this on my 2018 ecoboost today 👍
Yup! 2015-2019
@@bradaguilar4205 how was the install? I'm waiting for my intercooler to come in the mail, any advice?

Hey I was wondering, are the charge pipes needed for this mod or are the factory pipes ok?
not on the stock turbo. it's ok for helping prevent boost leaks but that's about it.
you really gotta say the measurements as ur doing them smh
Why doesn't your car have an air dam?
No mention of the shutters that also have to be removed that aren't on your car. Tsk, tsk.
good LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORD, who the hell buys a 4 bangger Mustasng, at the price they want for them, BUUUUUUAAAAAJJJJJJ...........................
Does this require a tune ?
No but definitely worth it if you live in a hot climate
