A couple of years ago came down this glen on last day of 2 week bikepacking trip. (Had started at Mull of Kintyre) Stayed at Dunan, then down to Perth for Train Home. It's not a good idea to say "I can always go next year".
Love this video. A wonderful note about a Meadow Pipit appears in the book: The Cairngorms by Desmond Nethersole-Thompson & Adam Watson. 'One of the bravest sights is a cock meadow pipit singing over his territory on a wild snowy spring day when the sun is just strong enough to melt a little snow on the edge of heather and boulder. The grey wave of a snow squall passes over the dead black and white hill, and the wind whips up drifting snow in little spouts and whirls around the rocks. Suddenly, yes, a touch of blue sky, and the flakes sweeping past horizontally above you turn silver in the sun. Down the hill a tiny dark speck flutters off a stone and climbs higher and higher into the storm to pour out a torrent of thin, sweet, tinkling notes faster and faster as he climbs. Then he does a fine parachuting steep flutter back to earth giving slower and sweeter notes and finally a little trill as he comes back to ground. The meadow pipit's home is any expanse of heath or grass with or without boulders on flat ground or hillsides. They are most abundant in sheltered spots where grasses and heather grow taller than usual and thus provide some cover for the tiny nest.' This vivid description of the bird was most likely written by Thompson.
Nice one Murray , I quite like a bike and hike camp myself . I get what you mean camping to get away from it all, loved the nightlapses and hope the knee sorts itself out soon atb Dave
Great video Murray. I just returned from a wild camping trip after filtering peaty water. I use a drop of Milton sterilising fluid in a mug of water and leave Katadyn befree filter to soak a few hours then flush a few clean litres of water through. Works fine now. 💦👌

Lovely video of a place less visited Murray. One thought on your knee. I have had very long term problems with one knee but managed to finish the Munros and their Tops by using kinesio taping each time I went on the hill. Virtually pain free if one tapes up correctly. Have you tried it?

Another great video Murray, been following you since the first couple hundred subs and still have the excitement to watch. Are you seeing a physio about it to try manage things?
Very nice, what beautiful country and mountains, from Australia 🇦🇺Greg. Are you able to let us know what the actual temperature is please, everybody says it so cold, but how cold is it. 🥶
Hi Greg , the daytime temps were pretty warm - probably around 16-17 degrees centigrade (warm for Scotland for early spring 👍) night time temps were probably hovering around zero given the frost on the ground the following morning 👍
Brilliant video!!! Think I might make the same trip very soon. With regards to the knee injury, is it your LCL flaring up on descents? I would recommend looking into BPC-157 treatment as it has completely healed my knee injury (as well well as my elbow too). Great content 😃. Thanks
Another great video, glad you are still getting out despite the knee. Can i ask what type of water filter you are using? Im looking for a new one myself
Great video thanks! What coffee do you use when backpacking? And can I ask what water filter Doing my first summit camp (on An Teallach) in a couple of weeks so getting myself ready for that Cheers Ian
Hi Ian, good luck on the first wild camp when you get there - An Teallach is a might mountain :) I just use the instant coffee that comes in wee sachets - has milk powder mixed in and is ideal for camping. Always tastes good on a camp (not as much when I have it at home!!lol) Take care and thanks for watching ATB Murray
Hi Tom, there was a stream just off the path on the final pull up to the camp spot so I filled up there. But I probably packed a bit of water as the bike was doing most of the hard work on this wild camp :) !!lol Thanks for watching ATB Murray
Nice wee video, Murray. Have been through Glen Almond before on a road bike, but this is a cracking off road option I'd like to explore myself. Just wondering, what do you burn in your wee stove when here's no wood about? Are you carry pre-cut fuel in with you?
Thanks Jester - Glen Almond is a great (and under estimated) area in my opinion, absolutely love going up there :) I do indeed take up the fire logs (with the paper round them that you light). I usually cut them up so as they fit in the stove). Nothing to burn up in the hills TBH so always take my own fuel when its a little colder :) Take care and thanks for watching ATB Murray
@@ScotlandsMountains Thanks for the tips, Murray. After watching and being inspired by your Glen Tilt video, I recently bikepacked to the Falls of Tarf for a wild camp. Took my wood stove, but with no fuel lying around it went unused. I'll have a scout for some of those logs for next time. Cheers

Another great video Murray, been following you since the first couple hundred subs and still have the excitement to watch.
Are you seeing a physio about it to try manage things?
Thanks Nathan and thanks for watching for near the start 🙏 I have been referred to a physio and got third appointment this weekend 🤞🤞👍
..cool video keep up the great content.. Thank you…
Very nice, what beautiful country and mountains, from Australia 🇦🇺Greg.
Thanks
Thanks Martin hope the knee and elbow are all good - I’ll keep these in mind but my physio seems to be helping and the knee is slowly improving 🤞🤞🤞👍👍
Another great video, glad you are still getting out despite the knee. Can i ask what type of water filter you are using? Im looking for a new one myself
Hi James - it’s a Katadyn water filter 👌👍
The famous grouse alarm clock... Noisy things they are
Great video thanks!
What coffee do you use when backpacking? And can I ask what water filter
Doing my first summit camp (on An Teallach) in a couple of weeks so getting myself ready for that
Cheers
Ian
Hi Ian, good luck on the first wild camp when you get there - An Teallach is a might mountain :) I just use the instant coffee that comes in wee sachets - has milk powder mixed in and is ideal for camping. Always tastes good on a camp (not as much when I have it at home!!lol)
Take care and thanks for watching

A very nice adventure ....how much water did you bring or was there water nearby?
Hi Tom, there was a stream just off the path on the final pull up to the camp spot so I filled up there. But I probably packed a bit of water as the bike was doing most of the hard work on this wild camp :) !!lol
Thanks for watching

@@ScotlandsMountains Yeah...the water is heavy ...I usually put about 2L in a platypus for a few hours !
One good vid i have to say
Thank you 🙏
you did gorgeous ,🙌
Nice wee video, Murray. Have been through Glen Almond before on a road bike, but this is a cracking off road option I'd like to explore myself. Just wondering, what do you burn in your wee stove when here's no wood about? Are you carry pre-cut fuel in with you?
Thanks Jester - Glen Almond is a great (and under estimated) area in my opinion, absolutely love going up there :) I do indeed take up the fire logs (with the paper round them that you light). I usually cut them up so as they fit in the stove). Nothing to burn up in the hills TBH so always take my own fuel when its a little colder :)
Take care and thanks for watching

@@ScotlandsMountains Thanks for the tips, Murray. After watching and being inspired by your Glen Tilt video, I recently bikepacked to the Falls of Tarf for a wild camp. Took my wood stove, but with no fuel lying around it went unused. I'll have a scout for some of those logs for next time. Cheers
Good effort mate. ;¬)
You need one of those ebikes Murray. The other week a guy much older than me went whizzing (humming?) past me and my pushbike on very a steep (road) hill. Effortless (and annoying)
