Kings County Distillery in Brooklyn, NY, is unique, not just the oldest in the city, but also quietly making some of the best whiskey on the planet, and yes, that included white lightning, or, moonshine as well.
Small batch and hand crafted, using heritage techniques like open fermentation and Scottish copper pot belly stills, they make award winning spirits that will intoxicate you with their rich history.
From humble grass root beginnings making illegal moonshine in their Brooklyn apartment, to a thriving distillery that's literally the beautiful history of the Brooklyn Navy Yard, Kings County is definitely not to be missed and well worth the visit. You can not only tour their historical building where they make their elixirs, but drink in their stunning bar in a converted 19th century guard post, or even take a class from the head distillers themselves, to learn how to make your own magic in a bottle.
