Chinese animation is really stigmatized because of heavy censorship and patriotism but Novels and manhua showed it didn't have to be that way and in the recent years there have been really good hits in Chinese animation for the international market (Scisor 7, the Daily Life of the immortal king etc.) And of course games like Genshin or Honkai that include a lot animations and internationally known pretty good storylines helped too
Some of the issues have nothing to do with picture quality and everything to do with going from japanese to Mandarin (not sure if there are any that are Cantonese, but I'll just say Mandarin)
