Nik secretly preparing to do a How To Polyphia video
If he actually did tho..
Maybe it could also be animals as leader?
Well it's not a secret anymore now. 😅
Hol up
In 30 seconds 😂
It genuinely disturbs me how effortless Tim makes this look. The amount of work this must take to perfect is wild to me.
I genuinely think you shouldn't be so easily genuinely disturbed.
@@radoslav2913 Geniunely WAH AH AH AH instead
I genuinely think you should just do this thing called practice
@@cweasegaming2692 I (genuinely) don’t have the finger length or dexterity for any level of practice to make a difference. 4 strings is the limit and I don’t need that in my life.
@@cweasegaming2692 I (genuinely) don’t have the finger length or dexterity for any level of practice to make a difference. 4 strings is the limit and I don’t need that in my life.
"just give me the tabs bro" most relatable sentence ever
said like a true metal guitarist
Ugh so true xD
I tried to learn the fast picking on playing god and I had no luck lol
i was about to comment this very same thing. im not normally someone who has patience. but fuck trying to just learn off the video of tim or ichika or marcin playing. that shit is too fast, too complex, and the augmentations and inversions are too foreign when your already jumping a damn octave every 5 bars or so. Alot of people dont talk about this. but his muscle memory is insane. he knows where every part of the fret board is without looking.
"We're too fast with the PP" should NOT have made me laugh as hard as it did
Tell me about it! 😂😂
As *hard*

Holy shit Nick I can't tell you how nice it is to have some fucking solidarity on this, I spent like 2 days trying to pick this up and to watch you suffer through the exact same emotions is pure fucking catharsis. You'll get it bud, just keep at it lmao. Tim's right in that once you can kinda sorta begin to do it you just kinda repeat it until your fingers bleed and it sorta kinda (not really) begins to feel natural.
@@spite_beeekilled3643 alright guitar police calm down, it's a metaphor for doing something a lot
what u have to bleed???
@@Dhieen gojira
I can do thump on bass but it feels so uncomfortable on guitar
@@Dhieen my guess is the "pp" mentioned in the video.
Tim is a very good teacher. He breaks things down in a constructive way. I hope he does more technique vids in his downtime
He probably has a director/instructor/coach for his video. I highly doubt he took the time to set this up and record it by himself.
@@ChrisTopherBunnell @Christopher Strong well that's where you're wrong. Tim's JOB is to literally write music in that exact chair for the majority of his time.... pretty sure he can pick up a few teaching skills since he's already mastered the guitar. But a bold assumption from you nonetheless
I vaguely remember he said he used to give guitar lessons actually, which is like a go-to source of income for a skilled musician when they aren't famous enough (yet) to rely on their own music to make money
@@WishMount I am wrong? were you there? do you know Tim Henson personally? Do you know his manager or agents? At the age of 29, his net worth is $48Million. If I was worth Fifty Million Dollars, I think I would have crews and assistants.
@@WishMount You should take a college class in Television/Video Field Production, so you can learn that a room like that is not a simple setup and takes time to arrange, time that he should be spending on his intense production and touring schedule. He didn't make $50M by wasting his time making free promotional videos by himself on RUclips, at least not since he reached his current level of success..
As an old guy who doesn't use a pick but is envious of your shredding, I have to say I enjoyed this video immensely.
As a guy who uses a pick. I have to say I feel the pain in this video
“That’s too fast with the PP here.”
😂😂😂😂😂
tim henson taught me how to quit guitar
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The number 1 prevention method to pick up a guitar for current generations 😅
true

Sometimes I forget Nik is an actual guitarist and it startles me how good he is
No one is forgetting he’s an actual guitarist. Can we please stop with this?
18 YEARS
@@Vynextus jokes on you I have the memory of a snail
Nik plays guitar?
@@Drewthemagnificent not what he said, but what every top comment says where nik is seen with a guitar
I know you meme it up for entertainment, but it's pretty encouraging to see someone as good as you also struggle with new techniques.
Speaking of - if you need more video ideas: I for one would definitely have good use of a Nik Nocturnal series of videos about how to do those fun metal things that some of us never learned to do. Sweep and chug tutorials when?
Figure it out yet?
Honestly Tim's comments on this video about how to properly fingerpick erased 4 years of bad habits of mine and immediately made me click and improve my technique. This guy is not just a skilled guitarist, he knows how to teach stuff.
Then I threw my guitar away in frustration with cramps in my thumb trying to thump. I'm glad Nik is here to make me feel a bit better. Thanks Nik :D.
Its amazing seeing the one who I've been learning guitar from learning from someone else, Guitar is neat.
And now you're learning from someone learning from someone else.
Very neat.
Tim's guitar sounds soo good!
Insane amounts of compression
@@s.e.n3264 Sounds good, regardless. There are no rules for using guitar effects to achieve your desired tone. Whether it's modulation, distortion, compression, etc. In this case, compression helps with percussive rhythm playing. In other cases, you wouldn't use that much compression.
Have you heard the Chon bubble dream audio tree live video?
@@s.e.n3264 anything wrong with that?
Coz Ibanez always crafted better Guitars.
That's such a nice video, i have the exact same experience, trying to learn this song from Tim's tutorial
Had to laugh a lot here, it looks so easy but it's so horrible hard haha
Watching Nik learn complicated guitar stuff is like watching myself learn how to do the most simple of tasks
I’m glad I’m not the only one that still laughs at PP. I still laugh when I see PP when playing Pokémon lol
Nik doesn't have enough PP for this guitar skill
After the video I realized I'll never be able to fingerpick or thump.
Lol well tell your girlfriend she needs to teach you
@@pandulce4447 nah no female has given me a chance in over a decade. I gave up on that part of life a long time ago. And guitar.
hey bro it's ok, at least you can use your right hand for other things
@@lucashouse9117 Sorry bro unironically :( I know this feel
But it leaves you to become the happiest version of yourself no distractions at least.
@@goldengrill769 I don't think happy is in the cards for me. Crohn's disease has wrecked my life. It's ok though.
I'm a total stranger to fingerpicking, idk if that's just standard practice, but it's funny how the letters that Tim uses for the fingers don't correspond to their English names, but actually fit their French names (and I'm assuming it works for other Latin languages too). Like P = pouce (thumb) and A = annulaire (ring finger).
Pulgar y anular in Spanish

@@gabrielpspsps Romance Languages ftw boiii
I suppose they come from Spanish since classical guitar technique was mostly developed here, but I'm confused about the middle finger being an M. Yes, it can be called "dedo medio" I guess, but the normal terminology is "dedo corazón" (heart finger), so a C would make more sense
they probably come from Italian, like most western music names.
"we are too fast with the PP here" that's what she said
I love watching your videos Nick! Always makes me smile!
Been loving the more guitar focused content keep it up nik love from the Netherlands.
"Woah woah we're too fast with the PP"
I choked on my drink laughing
Tim Henson taught me to how to dougie
'We're too fast with the PP here' - Nick Nocturnal 2023
this video is so hilarious! Nik's transparency and poking fun at himself are so well done! I hope you know you are actually a great guitarist bro!
it’s VERY encouraging how even Tim Henson (for emphasis, TIN HENSON) says it’s very difficult
LOVE this video so much - Nik's entire processing of Tim's tutorial is so unapologetically authentic of what I'm sure is every guitarist looking at someone trying to teach them something. [definitely me!] "just give me the tab's bro" 👀😁
I hate how I laughed at "pp" literally every single time
Once you get used to it this technique is actually not too difficult (as used in this video). It feels great too. I’ve started using it to practice a sweep / finger picking combo that I see Manuel Gardner Fernandez using and it feels godly. Tim is such a boss for taking the time to give tutorials like this
Finally, virgin mathematics rock
Nik learns how to use his PP
Tim is like surprisingly good at giving instructions. It's kind of insane.
Tim's tone is soo good...
Genuinely excited to see you get better at this
Dude, your videos are always amazing. Really love your channel! Keep it up
Dude, thanks for taking us along that adventure to share in the knowledge. Respect. 👊
omg this is giving me flashbacks to learning the classical guitar. God Bless you Nick it's such a P-A-I-N!!!!!
Learnt that etude and practised that technique a couple days ago aswell and your suffering made me feel better. Thanks :)
Tim Henson x Nik always makes my day brighter
dude you're the best haha. i love that you're not afraid to be humble and laugh at yourself. keep doing the great work!
this channel is absolute metal and guitar gold :p love Nik
Nik your videos have been top notch lately, keep it up please
Tim is a monster on the guitar, its crazy
It's just reassuring to see even Nik do something that makes him feel like a new guitarist, makes me feel like even I can learn this shit lmao
2:55 exactly what i feel trying to do this shit
Im glad nik is back with the guitar content.
The editing notes are making me laugh so hard. Great job making the learning of this fun.
"whoa that's too fast with the pp"
that's what she said.
I've been working on learning this for a few days now, and it's like the 4th thumping video I've watched. Just getting used to the finesse that's necessary took me longer than I would like to admit. I'm just starting to get decent at it. Still nowhere near Tim, but his video was the most helpful in teaching me the technique. It really does take a LOT of practice to get it. I'm usually a quick study, but I've been learning this technique for like 2 weeks, and I'm just now starting to feel confident with it. It's so so fun, once you get the hang of it.
Great video!! You’re amazing 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
One of the funniest videos I've watched by you nik
What a time to be the part of the guitar world \m/ love this campaign where Tim teaches different people.
This was hilarious!!!!! My man…keep pushing
5:44 a tip don’t reposition your hand while finger picking it’ll become harder to pick the correct string 😅
great video as always nick.
i am wanted for arson in 37 countries
Gotta get that number up my man
Why don’t you make it 38?
rookie numbers
The of the legend pick and thumbs around.
Loved the duo pic with Tosin Abasi
Watching you struggle with someone else's lessons is me struggling with your lessons. Love the content.
Lol, great video. I'm here looking at the callous on my thumb, realizing I've a mirrored experience. For me, it's been the fancy pick techniques that I've slacked on. I used to lose my picks all the time, so I developed my finger picking. I should probably load up a sweep picking video now.
Hey Nik, of course I literally just found this video. I don't play guitar at all but to watch you suffer through that lesson was both funny but frustrating even for me! Tim definitely has a style all his own.
Nik is goated for patience and emphasis ❤️
This is honestly inspiring me to learn how to play the guitar, maybe one day💔
When he said "just give me the tabs bro" so seriously and deadpan I felt that
Awesome content! Fingerstyle perspective: try keeping the RH pinky off the guitar. Also try preparing the ima fingers before you pluck so you don't have to think about it.
Super nice to see you try this! As a classical guitarist I am way better at fingerpicking than at playing with a pick, and I can't stop myself from pointing out that you could try to pick more from the fingers and less from the hand as a whole. I see your hand make a little jump every time you pluck the i-m-a fingers, and you should aim for a steady hand that does not or barely move. This will make it easier to play with as little tension as possible, as well as more economical. so you can speed it up better. =)
In the meantime, I will just struggle like hell to learn how to sweep, and get encouragement from your cover videos!
The fact that he can do this at all and didn't give up immediately is impressive.
Mate, your videos just make me bloody laugh. Every time. 👏
keep going, great video
see a teacher like nick suffer to try to do it. says how amazing Tim is.
Tim has the nicest guitars I’ve ever seen
Seeing the guy who covers entire songs in less than a day struggling that much learning a new technic kinda relieves my soul
Luv u Nik
Nik, from personal experience, you'll never stop learning. You're an excellent guitarist/musician so never give up
I’m glad to see Nik be so clumpsy with it like i am with every freaking thing i learn on the guitar haha
🤣 thank you for being real with the struggle of all Tim's techniques
Broooo, nice you checked this percussive fingerstyle out..... its so different from normal playing, i can completely feel with you.
We want weekly updates for this :)
I love you man, your PP laughter. 😂
It's like learning guitar for the first time. I have so little control over my thumb I feel like I'm Dj Khaled playing guitar.
“I’ll get right on it Tim” made me die 🤣
NICE 1 BRUH! I ENJOY WATCHING YOU PRACTISING THE TIM HENSON SIGNATURE STYLE! GOODJOB SIR
I picked up Tim from a Chicken Express back in the day. Very chill guy and open minded.
This was entertaining, good post.
I'm grabbin my guitar and jumpin along for the ride
I learnt this this week, so fun to play
It actually makes me feel better to see Nik struggling to learn something makes me feel less like the utter fail I am 😂
The ripple effect of you laughing at PP which made me laugh at you laughing at PP, made me laugh more
Could replace with slap on the downstream and a slap release on the upstroke(similar technique) then pop with the index mid and ring for a mo funky approach.
Defiantly a harder technique to learn. A few things I can recommend is buy the guitar messenger Tosin thump course, it’s amazing. Second, there’s a really good tutorial I found by ando San that breaks down the movement almost perfectly and that started me off so well with the technique. Also I noticed that you’re doing more of a slapping motion on the string instead of going through it like a pick, you are gonna want to get a little nail in there as well just to add more attack to the string. I enjoyed watching this, please do more.
Nick I believe by next video you can have this mastered
this actually helped incurraging me to get back into learning how to play guitar. thank you :p
Little tip for your thumb technique, your picking motion kind of moves away from the guitar as you downstroke, try keeping your thumb as absolutely relaxed as possible and bring it through the string with force from your wrist, this way when it lands on the next string it’s immediately in position for the upstroke
Drop OMEGALUL breakdowns lmaooo
Thats where i recognize, playing guitar 3 years in music school was important. Learned from the bottom with aucustic on nylon.
Nick: “Just gimme the tabs bro”
Me all the time bc I’m still learning to play by ear
You surprisingly did really good
bros videos got me rolling
Nik demonstrates the frustration every guitar player experiences to a tee 😂🤘🏼😎
Makes me feel better seeing guitarists way better than me struggle with Polyphia
Hey Nick, thanks for the video
Already resting the other fingers is a great tip to increase speed. Now i can practice those crazy ichika ghost notes
