When Apple can get this to be 30-40 percent lighter and $2000 or so, and refine the experiences, then I think it will really take off.

      what does take of mean?
for mainstream this has only one purpose and that is for content consumption.
even if Apple can/will reduce to $2000, by that time we'll have even bigger and more affordable OLED/miniLED T.V.
who will get a headset for 1 person for $2000+ ?
you can't even use it for gaming since it only connects with macbook's which is even more expense and gamining isn't that good on macs.
this isn't even appealing to developers. they code for long periods of the day. and for the price of $3500 you can get an amazing setup. and even the eye fatigue and neck strain putting that on none stop...
then theirs the matter of what happens if you damage it. putting it on and off throught out day has good chance you do. imagine how much apple will charge you to fix it. it's so integrated and complex....
this is a fad. If they can come to $1000, they have a chance.
seriously who can afford $3500 on such a needless product.

Not sure about the black-berry comparison though, I'd say if you want to compare these its like comparing the flagship smartphone with the good budget models of phones. Hand tracking on Quest only tracks gross movements like grabbing objects and requires you to hold your hands out in front of you. The default input method is the wriststrap controllers. Eye tracking is limited to foveated rendering and is not an input method, nor biometric security.
Hand tracking on Vision is relaxed, so you can keep your hands down. It is also precise enough to do gestures like pinch to click, zoom, scroll, and rotate, and also shows up natural looking and spatially on video conferencing. There’s no ghost hands, mannequin hands or laser pointer hands.
The AVP processor is 3-8x faster than Quest 3, the display is 2.5x the resolution and MicroOLED not LCD, the passthrough is clear rather than distorted, and it runs the iOS app library rather than focusing on games (which I’ll grant are better on Quest).
The OS, UI, ecosystem (Files/iCloud, Mail, Messages, Safari, Photos & spatial videos, movies and TV, Music, Apple Pay, Find My, keychain, etc), and support are miles ahead of what’s on Quest. Apple privacy vs. Facebook privacy alone is an enormous differentiator that should not go unmentioned.
Basically gaming is better on Quest. For anything else - including productivity to make your investment back - and if you can afford it and understand its 1st gen limitations, I’d go with the AVP.

Oh my God this is bad! I'm pretty sure you have to go into the settings and actually disable hand tracking in the Quest 3. In Quest 2 it was optional but in Quest 3 it's enabled by default. And it's very seamless, you get this floating tablet and you just touch it to control everything. I've seen people on RUclips fumbling with the Vision Pro interface not knowing where to look and trying to control the thing. This is definitely a paid ad by Apple. Or she just has too much Apple stocks. The undeniable advantage of Vision Pro is the screen quality and the passthrough quality but for now, that's pretty much it.

The color vibrancy, the wow factor, that's all part of the "novelty" stage, this will wear out as time passes, then the cons start, this thing is getting uncomfortable due to it's weight, not fitting your face shape properly, etc. Why am I wearing this to watch a movie when I can be much more comfortable sitting on my sofa watching a 4k HDR TV. The finger tracking can be good, but do NOT underestimate the use of controllers, they can also be quite useful and not just for gaming, the buttons on the controllers do various functions, I'll use drawing software as a example, those buttons can let you choose color pallets quicker and easier and so on. I've been into VR since 2017, have had many various headsets but there's no way I could ever afford $3500 USA (I'm Canadian, so it would probably be over $4000 here). This is a headset for the rich, not a mass market item like the Quest line of headsets. And to be honest, I don't see the real purpose for the Apple Vision Pro. I guess as reviews start popping up, we'll see what this thing can REALLY do.

Movies while in bed is something I use my quest 3 for. The AVP does that loads better considering they actually have a simulated 4k HDR tv, vs quest where it's 1080p SDR. The cost of AVP is high because apple wants to ward off their own fans from buying one yet, but even they underestimated their own fan base, which is fine because this product needs all the R&D and funding possible to catch up with the VR market that's over a decade old at this point.

You can also use the OS of the Quest 3 with your hands and it also has passthrough like the AVP... Controllers also give very helpful feedback with their vibrations and you can select much more precise than eye tracking. I really don't see a good use case for the AVP except sitting in a plane or on a train for hours to watch TV on a huge screen. But that's also possible with other headsets for a fraction of the price, also with really good screens and even higher POV like for example a Pimax. This feels all the way like iPhone vs Android phones 10 years ago but this time it's Meta.

Are you going to run around in a FPS game pinching people's heads? Also when in VR having something to actually feel in your hand is a bonus. If you have a gun or a sword being shown you actually feel it.

-> Average hourly earnings increased 0.6%, double the monthly estimate. On a year-over-year basis, wages jumped 4.5%, well above the 4.1% forecast.
-> Job growth was widespread in January, led by professional and business services with 74,000. Other significant contributors included health care (70,000) and retail trade (45,000).
Sure, there were some tech layoffs, about 10,000 total but net a very positive jobs report and NO recession by all accounts on the horizon. In fact most economists believe the economy is “robust”.

It's not like the quest 3 and pro and even 2 has hand tracking and a 120z refresh rate lmao. These are the people they coin as "tech experts" the vision pro is pretty cool but don't downplay the quest 3, a headset that's also really impressive that costs a mere fraction of the price.

For someone who has zero knowledge/experience with VR, & isn't a gamer, please tell me why I should be interested in this ? That may sound sarcastic, but it isn't. I'm just genuinely interested in what I could do with something like this, but can't using my iMac desktop. Thank you.

AVP is a clunky, impractical prototype that Apple is using as a stepping stone to get AR devs on board. Once they release the product they are working towards - lightweight AR glasses - there will be a suite of AR apps ready to go. That is the whole point of AVP. Buy it if you want Apple to step on your face in pursuit of their long-term goal.

APPLE & IPHONE MAY BE BIG THINGS IN DEVELOPED COUNTRIES BUT IN ASIA, WHERE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE ARE PRICE SENSITIVE LEST THEY BUY IPHONES AT SECONDARY OR USED MARKET (EXCEPT FOR THE RICH), MAJORITY PREFERS SAMSUNG AND CHINA MOBILE PHONES , THE VERY REASON XIAOMI AND HUAWEI GAINING MOMENTUM AND CHEWING APPLE AND SAMSUNG MARKET SHARE.
