  • This multi-part tutorial series explores the in-depth details of the Leonardo MD-82 Maddog for Microsoft Flight Simulator. This is not a quick start guide. It is designed to dive deeper into the aircraft and its systems to provide you with a robust understanding of this unique jet. It should be obvious, but all of this information is for flight simulation purposes only.

I am not a real airline pilot, nor have I ever flown the real MD-82. All of my knowledge comes from reading manuals, talking to real pilots, other videos, and my own experience in the sim.

Well, I've already been over to your Discord site, but I wanted to leave a more public comment about your product. You are the best instructor that I have run across in the Sim world. Too much? Nah, I know what I'm talking about, and whether you're a new sim-aviator or a professional pilot like myself, you are a top-notch resource for all of us. I'll be doing a few videos on my channel on the MD-82, and you sir will be given all of the credit. Fantastic job. Truly impressed.

Thanks Moose, learning how much I did not know about this aircraft. Best Instruction around.

Really enjoyed your series. I flew the Maddog back in the FS2004 days. One problem I'm having is the plane is very steer while taxiing. It barely turns. I can't turn around on runways & getting into parking slots is very hard. My hydraulics are set correct. Also, my other planes don't have this problem. Any thoughts?

My guess is either your taxiing too fast or some control setting is not correct. I can taxi and turn quite nicely in the maddog using both the tiller or rudder pedals. Remember, the maddog is nose light, the main weight is at the tail, so it doesn't take much for the nose wheel to start skidding. If it doesn't seem to be turning well ease off the turn and start turning slowly again to try and regain traction. Holding the wheel hard over will only make it worse

@@moosestaffa83 Thanks. I set the nose wheel steering to axis I have & it works well.

Hi, really another phantastisch video! I noticed in your video during taxiing, that the speed on ground is increasing although the thrust lever is in ideal position during rolling, too. That‘s what I observed in my sim, too. Is that a bug or is it an identical behavior in a real aircraft especially naturally in MD-82?

I think that is a Microsoft friction "bug" one of the limitations of the sim
